I have to agree with this. In DD1 there was such a broad spectrum of stats you could obtain in a single piece of gear that when you finally did find a really high end one, you pretty much jumped for joy. If you tie the scaling to the weapon and then use the hero stat as the modifier you get a much larger gap in damage potentials of weapons and it makes the grind a bit more but it also makes it feel far more rewarding. I know some people don't like grinding for gear but tbh DD is supposed to be a very grind-heavy game and if you dont like it then its probably not the game for you. Me and my friends used to spend hours a day just doing Akatiti Jungle trying to get the best obsidian weapons and each time we finally got one the feeling of achievement made it so worth it. So i really think the scalability of weapons should be like it was in DD1. It makes the grind more rewarding imo.
