  1. Yeah he got a job and it became pretty apparent that Trendy was looking to hire some new talent. If that's really all the contest was about they should have just said so and that would've probably saved a lot of people some headache. As far as which of the maps is likely to win, that's no longer entirely decided by the player base since the vote is 60/40 favoring judges opinion (was pretty much that way last time anyways.) So disregarding that 40% for a moment (Which Tower Wars holds unanimously right now.) Judge vote might likely favor the map that's been custom crafted over all others. Or you know it just might not. Funny thing about voting isn't it? And since this is an important day (in America) regarding voting, in the same spirit I hope a lot more people pay attention to what has been presented on the workshop, not nearly enough people have voted, looking at the subscriber to rating ratio on any of the contest maps. I'd be saying this even if I hadn't entered the contest myself. I wouldn't worry about that ratio. Everyone's ratio is higher than subscribers. The only thing that matters is thumbs ups versus thumbs down. Plus they are probably going to pick two entries this contest by the sounds of it.
  2. Except we never saw all of what the Trendy Judges had to say.. 3 out of the 7 posted something. It doesn't matter so much but hearing all of their opinions would have been nice. Feedback for a level designer is one of the most important things for growth. Especially from people who work in the gaming industry. Through praise or criticism, both are very important. That being said, I hope ALL of the judges get time to jot down some points for all of the entries. Doesn't have to be a full 3 paragraph review. A short Pros & Cons, and maybe a blurb or two about what could be improved upon would be sufficient. We pretty much knew who won that contest as soon as the devs made an entire youtube video about its excellence. He now even works for Trendy because he showcases some pretty crazy talent. Not only did he design and test the map, but he created 90% of the content for it. I have nothing but respect for that guy. Crazy is looking to win this my contest if I had to make a guess. His work is pretty damn stellar. Plus they have him featured all over their site and he is an active community member creating tutorials and everything in between. Also, Tower Wars is has a really good chance as well. That is an entire new game mode for Trendy to make maps for. I wouldn't be surprised if that game mode is purchased by trendy. Overall there are some pretty unique entries in this contest and I can't wait to see who comes out on top. Hopefully my map, Gallowmere, does well! Good luck to you all and keep up the great work!
  3. Thanks for replying! I see, it would be nice if steamwork shop had support for contests such as this. Maybe you guys could bring it up for the next contest? That would be really cool.
  4. Hey buddy, I don't want to be a bother but, wouldn't having maps using thumbs up ratings for victory in the contest be heavily biased for early bird map submitters? There are maps that were uploaded right as the contest started like tower wars because they were all ready in the makes. By the time the contest was announced some maps just tagged themselves as contest maps in their next uploads and already had whopping amounts of votes. Just saying, I do not think that this is a fair or accurate way to represent the community and map makers. Maybe you guys are tracking the new thumbs ups? Any info on this would be great, I could be mistaken thanks.

The version I submitted unfortunately suffered from a overlooked bug. I totally forgot about it and I spent the majority of my time making the map as sexy as possible. This made me over look a few things in retrospect and It is a real same that I didn't test my map out more than I did. It is a great lesson to have learned though! I will do much much better in the next contest! YOU GUYS BETTER HAVE ANOTHER ONE! I absolutely love when companies get the modding community involved like this. Not only does it help you guys out, but it gives fans a chance to make a really awesome content and learn a little more about game development. All in all I wish I could have gone back and changed a few things, it would have made my map fair a lot better in my opinion.

The paths are many and dangerous in these woods. however, this also opens many defence strategies. With this map, Forgotten Graveyard, I wanted to give players multiple choices for defenses so that every time they play new strategies could be used and discovered. I wanted to make the map require skill and team work over just choking enemies at the same few points across the map for the entire duration. I achieved this by giving the enemies various avenues of attacking any said crystal, which really adds urgency and frantic gameplay into the mix. Overall I wanted to make the map feel like something new and fresh to the franchise with intuitive gameplay by giving players tons of option to complete the map. For the theme I chose a graveyard setting because they are my favorite settings for any type of game and I am sure I am not alone on that. A lot of this levels inspiration came from Medievil, a horror themed platformer game for the PS1. I am also a huge survival horror fan with both movies and games. For its location, it is based on the outskirts of Etheria in the mountain region beyond the main castle, where the source of the evil seems to be originating from. I actually bought DD because it had Halloween content, even though it was basically a re-skin, I loved it. I want to continue its legacy with this level and I hope you guys and the community enjoy my submission! There are 3 crystals to defend.   15. Here is the latest and greatest version of my map. Since this forum is popular with the modding community, I will post my maps changes here so you guys can test them out!
