About Haven

  1. As someone who codes, I think they can fit a number of different groups without making significant changes at all. You kinda hit the nail on the head. I think Trendy might be so focused on creating that "end game" (that level of difficulty that everyone can keep trying to play) that they may not realize that some of us have the ability to keep playing this game for a very long time without the restrictions that are being imposed. Adding a whole bunch of cool stuff is important...for both the developers and the players..stoke that creativity...just wondering about the whole product management/business aspect....Need to understand the customers, pick the direction, and let us know versus confusing us. If their goal was to make money with dungeon defenders / be a popular game, they picked the wrong type of game for that.
  2. Hi, I don't know of any other Haven's in discord so I'm going to assume you're talking about me. I checked our message history on all people under the name "concrete_fish" and the only message history we have is me selling you a 10/10 range mod for 50% of it's normal value which was sold for 25m. If you'd like I can post our chat logs but I figured there's no need to do this as you can simply check the logs as well (& a small invasion of privacy). So in our history we never traded mod for mod. As far as the steam ID you posted, not only does it not link to my profile but it doesn't link to any profile. I also never changed my name on the dd2 account I play on before. If you'd like to sort anything further out or send me all the screenshots you have, I'd love to see them and assist you. My discord: Haven#1279
  3. I'm not rude to any players I think I'm pretty fair to almost any player as long as they're not very dumb. As far as devs it's hard to be nice when you write very long recommendations and their response to the recommendations is ignored and they only talk about why I shouldn't doubt them. I find it hypocritical you say that it's a step in the right direction when nothing has been proven yet.
  4. I suppose I'll start with the unique reward remark. I can't talk about what will be in the future of the game because I simply don't know that, but even if this combo doesn't proc diminishing returns the biggest reward we're getting out of the map is a revert on (in my opinion) something that shouldn't have even been added in the first place. DR should've been weapon man exclusive, I'd go into further detail on this but it'll take me all day to explain and I've already made a lengthy wall of text as why it was a bad idea tl:dr wm was strong but they nerfed all cc instead of exclusively weapon manufacturers. The reward so far in itself is 1 step forward 2 steps backwards. Preference or not in this new minigame in fire defenders 2; this game mode is very different from what onslaught was prior to the update as I believe you were talking about with: "the game is going into a different direction than we thought" I'm not sure if mixing their most unpopular game mode with their most popular is the best way to force upon new content. The new map is dead in c7 because no one wants to complete it compared to the other frost map. If you like incursions it might be cool for you, but for people who just want to defend the crystals and not the bonfires or the bling kings pot of gold i gotta do every week for 600 medals, isn't "cool" to be forced upon. I could recommend things to make the solo mode of the drakenmap in onslaught better; such as the amount of fires required to light per breath scale off of players, but it seems every balance change or patch I find myself on the forums trying to think of solutions for mistakes trendy is releasing in the first place. Instead of getting shot in the leg and me putting a band aid on it; I'm going to remove the bullet. This is an extreme analogy but to someone who completely disagrees with where recent balance changes are going this is EXACTLY what it feels like. We're here thinking of ideas to fix a bad implementation. Incursions should just get huge buffs on rewards and not be in onslaught in my opinion. Most likely you won't agree with this because you enjoy it, but if this is the way the game is going why have different game modes in the first place. The only game mode I enjoy being mixed with the other game modes I dislike isn't going to be fun for me or many other players that enjoy the fundamentals of Onslaught. I hate to bring up runescape again but, they have in game voting polls to vote upon what comes into the game so devs can see where they can spend their time effectively. In dd2 everything is hidden until released and if we like it awesome, if we don't we get this. If something like this was in the game where players could voice an opinion and it actually be considered it'd probably be a lot more healthy. and if you don't feel like reading all that ***; basically I think this thing has a spot in incursions with significant buffs to rewards specifically to incursions so it can still be enjoyed, just not in onslaught. I read your whole post, seeing every side of a debate is important. and i agree with buffing incursions in some way, they have no rewards or incentives, lack luster perks, low mod lvls, and a harder version of an equal lvled expedition. and DR is a polarizing opinion. I like DR, i understand its importance in a game with an ever increasing difficulty system, and can understand why its in the game, i respect that you have your opinion, i have read your walls about how you don't like it, and even tho we disagree, i doubt its going to be reverted, maybe. Personally, if i was playing this game and update after update i saw changes that i hated and didn't agree with, id put the game away and find something that fits my likes/dislikes better. Its why i no longer play Warframe, fishing and mining for an endgame shooter isnt my idea of fun, as for using the market to farm platinum, gross, no ty. So after a few updates without any high lvled content, i chose to stop playing the game. Im kinda bummed, i liked that game, but their direction wasn't for me. I hate to say this, but im not sure DD2 is the game for you anymore. You have said many times, their changes have been a constant step backward for the game, for many updates now. Prolly time to pull the DD2 bullet out your foot and find something else to fill your time. Cause idk about you, but every patch, goin to the forums and going "trendy is ruining everything" would drive me up the wall and id stop playing what i felt was a game being killed by the devs. Ugh this developed into a "if you dont like it so leave" post. But i mean there isn't anyone forcing you to stay, if your not having fun why play video games? I'm sure there is a game or 2 ya got lyin around you haven't played, go play those for a month or 2 and come see if this game has changed. Nothing wrong with a break, i took a break after proteon shift because the content was boring. I already went from resetting twice a day to doing a floor a day if i'm lucky. I don't think dd2 will release a patch that will make me not play it (although I wouldn't be surprised.) To throw away a game I put 1k hours+ on because the balance team doesn't know what they're doing is unlikely from my point of view. Riot has much better balance changes but sometimes they're questionable and I have 5k+ hours on league. If they release a bad patch I know they'll fix it in 2 weeks- a month and during the time it's not that great, it's still fun. DD2 on the other hand logging in I know they aren't going to fix it. They haven't fixed many towers and for the ones they do fix they overdo it. Not that long ago shocking revelations was released on a tower with an attack rate of 0.38/s and it has a 5s aoe stun. This is the balance team changing this game do I have faith? absolutely not lmao. If their balance team was changed I'd maybe see light but yeah, it probably will never get better. I'm not gonna trash 40 resets either because of a bad patch I'll just play a lot less. But me playing less doesn't fix their problems, nor the other people who still put up with their problems. Telling anyone who doesn't agree with trendy to leave is gonna cut those 600 actives up real quick. Most conversations I have about balance if not all of them end in this way, so I wasn't too surprised. The only difference was you made it past a sentence then mentioned the leaving thing.
  5. So i do apologize, the salty comment was only directed at that one person, not anybody else, he was rude, i was rude back, anyway not the point. I think whether you find it fun or not is a matter of preference and taste, and that cant be argued over, no point there. You don't like it, i do, we enjoy different things i can respect that. And the solo experience for the map right now needs some improvement, also true. As far as 10/10 mods go, i never once said to just replacing 10 mods every few months. tbh i don't have a t10 tenacity, i wish i did tho, and i don't recommend changing mods around every content drop. That would be gross to do that, losing one 10 mod is hard enough, every month getting rid of mods like expired food wouldn't be fun at all. As far as a reward, we have not seen all the new mods that come out of that map yet, they are on a rotation. The 2 mods we have seen, the ice chip and the torch bearer, well one of them is a flair in your mod slot tbh, and the other, when combined with drench, Completely freezing anything that can get stunned, and it looks like DR doesn't affect it at all. A completely new elemental combo on the first week of rotation is 100% a unique reward that does matter (i'm working on my barb with an ice chip AND shock, gonna be amazing) and is a sign that they are looking to make the game better. I do suppose that "better" is subjective here, but everyone can agree having unique rewards IS good for the game" I also don't care too much about who plays this game, and the numbers behind that. I highly doubt trendy will remove the dragon and relegate it to an incursion with the sad state that they are in right now. and i sadly don't think that incursions will get an overhaul anytime soon (i would like them to be relevant, but splitting a small player base further would be bad for the multiplayer aspect of the game) So i guess all i'm sayin is that the game is going into a different direction than we had thought, and it wont be for everyone. But jumping on the forums and just trashing the content that they work hard over doesn't help anything. hopefully they look at ALL the feedback and change the game so everyone is happy, but that will be difficult cause i rly like the dragon, and some people rly hate it... That's an awkward spot to be in for trendy. 6. I'd ask you to really reconsider what you're saying here. I try to be as active on all of our social platforms answering as many questions as possible and addressing any feedback that warrants it. You can see my post history and who I respond to, which is pretty much everyone that raises a concern in a constructive way (some people posting for the first time on the forums, or having very few posts at all). Taking an approach of (this is paraphrased) "they won't listen to me, I'm not Juicebags, dumb garbage changes", you probably won't be met with a lot of openness and communication. We'll investigate the pain point that you're conveying, but it's not healthy for the community and us to approach and encourage that kind of feedback process. We are reactive to the needs and wants of our entire community, and we take all the feedback we get very seriously. However, the community is a large group, and just because we make a change or add something that you don't necessarily enjoy, doesn't mean others don't. We're not a group of evil people looking to make people suffer, we want the game to remain healthy and for players to have fun with what we make. We have the humility to admit that we may not get it right the first time, but give us constructive feedback, and we'll try our hardest to get things into the most enjoyable state possible. In my opinion, this game has changed a ton and I have loved every second of these last updates. As compared to the OG days of lack of content, characters, variety and overall lack of interest in the play style of the game but still hanging in there, it has been worth it. The pay off of patiently waiting has pushed this game to the top of my list for sure, this is where it should be because this has always been one of my favorite games, due to art style, game play, the fact its a RTS tower defense, but also has the active play style you don't get from some tower defense games. By far my only gripe is that you guys haven't made another hero in the last few months or have had an announcement about a tower only hero! ;) I think the game is going in the right direction and am loving all the new content. The trap changes were huge for me personally due to them honestly not having that same luster as DD1 traps had, now I feel like they are back there again with the same style of mechanics. I plan on spamming the hell out of them when I finally can get my tier 10 tenacity servo! Other than that though the elemental combos make the game much more enjoyable and you have to find a good combo to make them work. Every tower I've used recently while playing again has been very, very viable and that has made me so happy again. I can find myself building a variety of 4-5 different defenses per lane all used for different purposes thanks to the servos. Like building an aura specifically for frost mobs, or another tower as a boss killer. It's so amazing to see such variety now. Hopefully you see this and fulfill the request that I know a lot of players have had of making a tower only hero to balance out the DPS only heroes that are already in the game. Like the summoner from DD1. Til then keep up the good work. Myth Hate to rain on your parade but I can tell you don't have a lot of time in the game or you're not very far in onslaught because you wouldn't say every tower you used is viable. Unless you got very lucky with the ones you picked and you didn't pick very many than it's just simply not true. I get this is the ***ride trendy thread even though it's the exact opposite I was trying to point out flaws with the game but opinions like this don't help at all, especially when it's just not true. Thanks anyways I guess. To start out, I’ve used a lot of towers and I’m on floor 115, I started at floor 30 and I got there in 5 days, so yes most every tower is viable with a correct setup and strategy for them. So instead of attacking my opinion maybe you should try to use something outside the meta. When this game was in the original days there was t much that was useful. Coming from what you just said I’m gonna assume you’re probably somewhere in the 400s. Cause if you’re not you need to reform your statement. There's towers that are just superior versions of others making the others irrelevant (some terrible on their own). You don't need to be rank 1 to notice these things. Given you can use C7 medallions to 250+ Try water geysers, skeletal archers, blaze balloons and compare these to weapon manufacturers, PDTs and flame auras. It's night and day and the first defenses mentioned will no longer be usable/viable after a certain point in comparison to others. My statement remains the same and the game has a lot of problems around balance which is likely to not change given the history of it.
  7. I think the new mode is actually easier than another omega wave, much easier actually. The only difference with an omega wave if you lose it's because you miss judged how a lane would go (or you got hit with a bug you didn't know about.) In the new 'incursion' we'll call it, if you lose it's not your fault everytime. You can get hit with bad rng a few times in a row and this can make this really frustrating. If you play solo (which most onslaught players do) you could hit the fire 10 times in a row and not light it with burning strikes or you can get it first try. You can get hit with a bunch of assassins in a row as the dragon comes down to freeze stuff. This isn't fun to play against and you really don't feel like there's much of a counter to this. Now you can hit me with the "just get tenacity on all your defenses and take off your previous 10/10 because the patch changed the game 4head" or you can tell me to delete my previous 10/10 mods on my dps and to put oil or fire to remove rng. Should I really be deleting my 10/10 mods every single patch? If I wanted to go keep the fires going I'd go play this: At least this one gives me a reward. Even if you think i should just delete everything I worked for last month because this month trendy hit us with a new perfect patch, the previous incursions into onslaught don't change the gameplay much. They're just new bosses, drakenfrost hit these things so your defenses continue to do what they're supposed to do and hope you don't get bad rng whilst doing so. If I lose I want to lose because I messed up building a lane, not because i didn't throw enough lumber into the furnace. This boss should only come out through lanes in my opinion and not this whole new floor even if it's easier, it's not onslaught and it sure isn't fun.
  8. and if you're doing anything other than resets if you look at leaderboard of highest floors pushed this looks even far worse. You can get a duo if you're willing to go like 15 floors back, it's not a jump right in and play sort of thing. You would also have to wait for your duo to get on and vice versa. There's an advantage for duoing but it's a pain in the ass to maintain.

  10. ... you’re missing the point. The game is free to play, with a small majority of players contributing towards server upkeep and development costs via in game purchases. In most cases, it’s the ones who don’t contribute anything, that get on the forums after every single update to have a go at the development team. They’re already getting a game for free, using somebody’s server bandwidth for free, and yet still think they have some divine right to complain. I got the point, that's why I made fun of it. Even if it did matter if they spent money or not you have no idea if they did, you're just assuming things about the person that you don't even know.
  11. LAWLTA stayed: “players have been asking for new enemies/mini bosses/bosses for a very long time” ; I would love if you could point out where you jumped to your conclusion? Did you even read LAWLTA’s response? Also, to further backup that point, I welcome the inclusion of bosses into onslaught. It Spices things up and requires you to develop new strategies. And if that’s too hard, then maybe tower defence isn’t for you. Lawlta could've just said the players wanted the game to die and we have no way to check majority of that so I'm not even going to bother with the first paragraph lawlta posted. The second paragraph he said "Players want engaging epic moments with cool rewards" The dragon looks cool flying around, but is there really cool rewards? Not really. There's also not much engaging except for sit on one spot with a ranged hero and shoot the fires so your defenses continue to work(pray you don't get headstrong assassins). If anything this is just tedious not difficult. This looks like an incursion, I wouldn't mind if the boss just came out of a lane like a normal boss; but you're forced to do this incursion every 10 floors for no real reason. This just seems like a 'you can't afk' floor just like the original release of siege rollers. To tell him to say 'don't play tower defense' is kind of a dumb statement because it's not the game he signed up for. If he wanted incursions he'd go play those. I don't know much about him but he said he does onslaught pushing, why would someone in late game content want to play tag with a bonfire in this new minigame? the new boss is whatever but to force this game of incursion tag every 10 floors and in chaos was not a good move in my opinion. Instead of making an incursion dead content they made the brand new map dead content because everyone is going to play the other frost map so they don't have to play minigames.
  12. Ummm I don't WM spam. I actually barely use it. >.< LOL But I tend to not go with the current meta's. Being creative and finding other equally powerful, or more powerful avenues, is more exciting. It's obvious you don't use WM because you wouldn't be taking this stance. The issue here is they, in my own painted words, catered to the top level players in the past. The other 90% of the player base stagnated behind those that were not in the top ten percent. It's one thing to have end game, it's another to make all features available to all players. Catering to the top level players is what you're suppose to do. 90% others didn't stagnate at all actually, bottom 90% was and is just fine, it always will be. I'm not going to live in a world where we balance around the people that ask for carries that's a horrible place to stand by and I disagree with anyone that suggests this. Anything can be used in chaos except maybe water geysers as a main defense. What you have to understand is, people were spamming WM because it's a REQUIREMENT to push very high. This isn't a perfect example however there is a reason no one at the top of the leaderboard is moving far. 7 seconds until no stuns against bosses with 1b+ hp.. come on. DR calls out anyone who uses CC ever, that's another BS claim because this didn't hurt wm this hit everything that does crowd control, in this game that's a lot of nerfs. No, DR isn't being called out too early. If they cannot play the game because of an update or their relics they spent 100s of millions of gold on are now absolutely useless, there's going to be an outcry and for a good reason. We're not arguing what the possibilities of DR could be, we're arguing what it is. What it is right now is absolutely terrible for the game. I'm not going to discuss what DR should be as I could spend all day on this topic. DD2 Isn't ready for a big change like DR because the game was already incredibly unbalanced before it came in and now it's going to be a nightmare to balance around. The patch is being called out because the balance changes are garbage, there's not much more too it. Like I stated before, you don't need to kill the top players experience to make the normal players experience good. DD2 has a place for grinders like myself in onslaught and a place for casuals in chaos. You don't need to kill either parties to balance this game. But to choose chaos 7 > onslaught, your most dedicated players with the best balance ideas is just a complete joke. The people asking for carries are not going to get priority balance over old players that love and know the games ins and outs, that's ridiculous.
