An important thing to note here is that the game is still in beta and Chromatic very much appreciates any and all feedback. Do try and remember civility. Thank you.
Now into my own feedback for this Beta.
So far I'm not hating the towers at all and they seem a little more giving than DD1 in some areas but loses in important areas that seriously bug me.
Upgrading and Repairing towers in both DD2 and DD1 were infinitely better simply because of an important factor: It was easy to target them.
In DDA it seems that when towers overlap each other (Aura and Traps being stacked on top of each other) it becomes ridiculously harder to target them when you wish to upgrade or repair them and it really screws with the defense part of the game. This should be changed to make it easier to target so it doesn't screw with repairing/upgrading.
Leveling. This is actually something that was well done here, I hated DD2's leveling system and loved DD1's. What makes it better here is the stats are Linear like DD1 and leveling is across the board for all your Heroes, simple and efficient.
Now onto the Hero gripes, I have.
Monk: Why does the Ensnare feel so... garbage? It was such a good aura in DD1 yet here it feels terrible. Maybe it's just me but this is how I feel as the enemies don't feel slowed down at all, especially Kobolds. Defense boost is horrid in my opinion, drop it on a location and let it buff towers, it sounds good in theory but not in practice. Old boost buffed towers in a radius around your Hero and healed defenses at the same time, I don't hate the ability to drop it in a location I hate that it doesn't heal defenses.
Squire: Towers are all in a good spot actually the only issue I have is Hero abilities, Circular slice seems a little weak and the other seems a little useless.
Apprentice: Was the Lightning tower even buffed? It still feels as weak as it was back when DD1 released, it didn't even become better until CDT buffed them because they sucked. Mana bomb is pretty shit too and the other ability I don't even know what it does.
Huntress: Getting rid of the Invisibility was a good move. It wasn't very useful. Traps are actually alright so I don't believe they need changes.
What about the Stat sheets? Please change these, the UI is fine I just have a few minor issues with it. Clump up Hero/Defense stats into one menu for easier access and just place some kind of divide between them. Make Stats the first thing you see instead of Items for convenience's sake. Allow us to view each Hero ability and what they do because not knowing what does what is really irritating. Perhaps make the stat screen smaller and not open up a new menu, I don't know why it was decided to be changed from a pop-up menu but the pop-up was better.
Now onto the more important questions.
Because of the Hero menu being like DD2, what does this mean for specified builds? Most if not everyone in DD1 had a Tower and DPS version of a single Hero dedicated to doing one thing, granted Nightmare was really stupid in scaling. DD2 didn't really follow this too much but still had something of that.
My question is: Will we be able to visit the Defender Forge if there will be one for more precise things like Tower builds and DPS builds?
An Alternate Solution: Allow us to have multiple Hero blocks as something along the lines of a Loadout so we can set up a DPS and Tower Loadout and freely swap between them.
Will Nightmare be balanced? It really wasn't in DD1 and I never experienced DD2's equivalent.
Will any other Heroes return, say like the Summoner? Part of the problem of DD1 is you NEEDED the Summoner because it had its own units which made Nightmare 10x more manageable.
