About Travysmo

  1. I agree, Assassins are simply not fun. There is no argument to change that. I am thoroughly surprised they have yet to be changed.
  2. I agree, the reality of assassins is that they are simply not fun.
  3. So I did not use a more populated lane yet, the other side I could test as well, but I tend to spam like 10 or so FA over there with only 1 WM, so the results of that would be biased. I can say on that side, I did have one FA (I am assuming I put it in a great spot) that outperformed everything on the map pulling over 600 million damage. Either way, I did re-do the test with a Mark, I took a screenshot of the mark and medallion, they will be included in the screenshots. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178833 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178813 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178397 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178415 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178430 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178459 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178473 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178497 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178516 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178529 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178547 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178563 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178584 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178606 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178630 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178644 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178563 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178695 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178715 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178730 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178746 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1091178768 Sorry for all the links, but that is the end of every wave, one SS of the WM and one of each of the 3 FA, as well as the SS that shows the medallion used and mark used. As a note, the bosses on that lane were 2 Malthius for the first two bosses, then Slekeleon on wave 4 (I think), and a plaguing hulk on the final wave. Neither me nor the gunwitch helped with any of the bosses and let the defenses kill everything, all I did was repair the wall if it needed it. In the end, totaling the damage between the 3 FA was 545.4 million, while the WM pulled a total of 377 million. I plan on testing a few more things out between the two defenses, for one I plan next time on that map to swap the medallion and mark and see if the WM will out perform or if the FA will stay ahead. Another thing would be to find an area that has more mob density and test that as well, with similarly placed defenses. Are you using both WM and flame aura in the exact same lane? Shouldn't you be doing the same map twice, once using WM and once using FA, and then comparing the dmg output (even time per round)? If you are upgrading FA then you also need to factor in dmg from blockades and other sources of dmg (i.e. proton nodes). The strength of WM is in the fact that it doesn't require any upgrades. If you are not taking this into account you are limiting your ability to make accurate comparisons and creating bias in your results. If you are spending 100% of your resources upgrading FA, the TOTAL dmg of your entire build needs to be compared. You could upgrade all FA for one run (assuming this uses all of your resources), and compare the total dmg (or time per wave) to that of another run on the same map using WM where your resources have been spent upgrading things like proton nodes and blockades. If you have 4 lanes, upgrading all 4 FA in each lane isn't going to be possible, so the total dmg output should, theoretically be lower to that of maxed out proton nodes+blockade+WM (i.e. maxing 4 proton nodes and 4 blockades will be possible as compared to maxing 12-16 FA). If you are going to compare WM and FA without factoring in total dmg or time, you need to compare them straight across at base stats (this is simpler to do and we already know WM will outperform FA in this scenario). A possible limitation is how many resources you spend repairing walls. If you have max frozen proton nodes (WM run), this will eliminate a lot of dmg from bosses as compared to a tier 1 frozen proton node (FA run). It may also be plausible to compare resources evenly spent across all defenses in the FA run. There are a large number of simulations that need to be run in order to accurately answer this question. In short, comparing the dmg for a fully ranked up FA to a WM isn't a relevant comparison, as of course the FA will do more dmg. It is the TOTAL dmg (or time!) that needs to be compared.
  4. I have never had any of these issues on the NA server while playing on PS4.
  5. Same thing happened to me as well. Unfortunately a lot of people don't realize that ascendance levels are more or less irrelevant. I just afk farmed some shards in C4 until I hit level 100. If you don't want to do that, play C5, get to wave 2, kill the single boss and get some gear. Lose on wave 3. Repeat until you can beat wave 3. Just continue this until you can beat C5, it is long, grueling, and very painful but it gets the job done.
  6. Using the best tool in your toolbox makes you a child?
  7. I use this trick for dead road and throne room to get a more secure seal. Having a complete seal mattered a lot more in DD1, where enemies were much more likely to go around a barricade, but there are still a few times this little trick can save you in DD2. Just for those that care... 41% is the greatest increase the angled trick will ever provide you. As one side gets longer, the % goes down, but it's still respectable and useful for some maps. For those that actually care to figure out the exact %... Take the ratio of the short side (s) vs the long side (N*s), where N is the ratio between the two. The ratio between the diagonal and the short side will be Sqrt(N^2 + 1) / N. So for squares... N = 1 since both side are equal, Sqrt(2)/1 = 1.41, or a 41% increase... I think most walls are about N = 2 (long sides twice as wide as short side)? So Sqrt(5)/2 = 1.12, or a 12% increase. Right, but if 2 blockades are already effective at blocking a lane normally....why do you need to them to cover a larger distance? If I only need $30 to fill my car with gas, why would I prepay for $100 (assuming you have exact change)? There is no point. While it is interesting to think about, its actual application is almost 0, it is overkill. That is all I am trying to say.
  8. You would have to be very precise with the angle, but theoretically yes. In the end though, does it really matter as 2 blockades will cover 99% of all lanes anyways?
  9. Its Chaos 7, arguably the easiest chaos. A detailed guide is unnecessary.
  10. Then remove likes on comments? I do not see the point in having likes without also having dislikes. Is this not creating bias in and of itself? Rose tinted glasses.
  11. They are intended to be CC'ed. Their recall timer is delayed during CC. So if you stun them for 5 seconds, you get 50% more time to CC. So it's not about DPS as much as it is CC. The faster you knock them off, the more time you have as well, because the 5 second silence can eat up half of your 10 seconds before they disappear. Secondly, skyguard DPS is a lie. a 600k DPS skyguard deals 200k DPS to an assassin (1/3). Lastly, if you can't kill a single assassin with a full 100 resource proton charge, I think something is wrong with your gear o.o... While I'm surprised that you can even get that much of a charge off without being interrupted in general... An even decently geared AP EV2 should kill an assassin in less than 5 seconds. Of course... that's provided you can get far enough away from one to use it, get through the animation, and fire it at one before it disappears in the first place... it's so slow o.o But in general... yeah... A mob that fully heals like them is just a bad design to begin with imo. I generally go with this strategy: 1 geyser trap near skyguard and frozen proton nodes near barricades The literal second an assassin jumps on me I am able to use the geyser trap or the proton nodes to get them off me, I jump away to create distance, shooting them with my primary weapon to try and proc my shard stun, and immediately begin to use proton charge. If I am lucky with crits, I can kill 1 before I overheat. If there is more than 1 (i.e. 95% of the time) the single second of an extra stun is enough to make it to where I cannot kill them in time. I am very easily able to solo clear Chaos 6, however, the assassins are still a huge annoyance as they are relatively unkillable when there is more than one. I was even able to clear an entire round of Chaos 7 last night, however, my gear level wasn't high enough to receive Chaos 7 gear. Even in 4 player matches the assassins are almost always the very last mobs to die, and are usually killed off instantly by the map ending (this happens when there are 3 or less mobs remaining on the map that have been alive for an extended amount of time). As a side note, if you are shooting your proton charge assassins are unable to stun you (on PS4). I assume this unintentional.
  12. Lol? I can solo Chaos 6 very easily when using other methods. If the reflect beam "trick" only works when you heavily outgear a Chaos, then it is a subpar method.
  13. If I can't kill them with a 100 resource proton charge beam, a 600k dps skyguard shooting them, all while sitting in a WM, then they have too much hp. If it is intentional that they full heal upon vanish, then their hp needs to be scaled wayyyyy back.
  14. This was the only video I found and the video doesn't work: https://www.reddit.com/r/dungeondefenders/comments/672ouf/chaos_7_3_player_reflect_beam_damage_build/ They suggest using flame aura to kill the exploding kobolds, however, a single flame aura will only kill kobolds if you heavily outgear the chaos you are in. Not trying to shoot down your idea, I am just unable to reproduce your results or find evidence in favor of it. Point me in the right direction if you feel I am wrong.
