  1. Trading in some capacity is coming. Not able to give details at the moment, but getting gear from one player to another will be a possibility. :)
  2. Massacre's difficulty spike is going to be that every enemy now has 7 machetes, 4 snakes, and a box of pineapple pizza.
  3. In regards to physical items, it's a combination of getting backer information, getting a survey out to relevant tiers (i.e. shirt size, or what they want their portrait to be), then talking with manufacturers to get things started, receiving all those goods, and then shipping them out (and working with shipping companies overseas). It's a process to say the least.
  4. Good question. *smooch*
  5. DEFENDERS! Today we announced yesterday that tomorrow we want to pivot our goals with any future games within our studio. There’s a lot to talk about, so for now we’ll just go over the big bullet points, because who even reads these things? The text is all bold because everything is important. Our artists are too busy, so we're going to draw these things for you in MS Paint to the best of our ability, which are the peak of art. Let’s smash that like and subscribe button: After our Kickstarter succeeds, we will be launching a second Kickstarter for a new Dungeon Defenders dating simulator. It is currently known as Project: Smooches, it is 9 years into development, and all the characters are mo-capped (motion captured) by Steve Buscemi in a fat suit (a true professional). New company mascots, the Chromie Bois. We got all three of the good ones: Our current Kickstarter has received so much support so quickly in such a short amount of time. We want to reward our players with an accelerated experience. Instead of our next project being Dungeon Defenders III, we’re going to blow away YOUR expectations by making the next installment in the Dungeon Defenders series being Dungeon Defenders VII. Here is an illustration of our new and main hero of DD7, Nimbus Conflict: You already love him! We realize that being Chromatic Games, some people have a hard time reading our text and logo. We’ll be creating a more colorblind friendly sister studio, Monochromatic Games, with the logo being specifically black and white. To provide the best Dungeon Defenders experience, we are now working on the Chromatic Launcher. This will have all your favorite Dungeon Defenders games in one place. No more pesky Steam, Epic, Uplay, Origin, MyGames, or any other launchers, you just have to use ours. Surely you don’t play other games, ours are the only ones to play. This is only available on your phone. Do you guys not have phones? We’ve got you covered. cPhone One. How’s it said? Don’t worry about it. Buy the phone and use the launcher. Everyone in the studio is going to legally change their last name based on the survey results taken at the beginning of this post. Gator sword. We’re looking to hire about 30 voice actors with no experience that can help us recreate every episode of Seinfeld in a special Dungeon Defenders VII map called “Jerry’s Apartment”. Here's the concept probably: Oh cool, a gun with legs. Too bad we have a fire-breathing muscle gun. (final concept art): Smell-o-vision update coming to all products once Oculus releases their new N-VR (nasal virtual reality). The Apex Legends pinging system, that’s pretty cool. No silly April Fool’s day posts. There’s a lot that we’re hard at work on and are really trying to churn out to provide the best experience possible. We want you to join us on our journey and hopefully make the best Project: Smooches errrr Dungeon Defenders game possible. Follow us on our social platforms, you know the ones. To make all of this potentially but probably not possible, but to make Dungeon Defenders: Awakened the best experience possible, check out our Kickstarter by clicking this whole paragraph. There’s less than two days left. Also there’s a secret link somewhere in this text. Smooches, Chromatic and Monochromatic Games
  6. We have our Chromatic Weekend Wind Down on Fridays, but that's comprised of us streaming DD2 and hanging out with the community. This may evolve over time, but Q&A + Dev Streams are not a weekly thing.
  7. DEFENDERS! Tomorrow, March 29th at 3PM EDT, we're going to have a Live Q&A session on Twitch for Dungeon Defenders: Awakened! In order to get questions answered easily and have prepared answers, we're asking any and all of you to post any questions you may have here. Make sure to read all the posts before yours so that questions aren't repeated, and we'll do our best to answer them during the stream. We're excited to discuss more of what we've been working. :) For Etheria!
  8. I actually was the one to undo whatever was done to your account. You got accidentally included in a clean sweep of bots. I talked to the person who initiated that sweep, and they said they had no idea how you were included, but there wasn't any specific reason you were flagged as far as I'm aware.
  9. It means that just because you dislike or don't agree with a specific user, that it does not turn the forums into a place where you can harass/degrade/bully/antagonize/etc said user because of dislike/disagreement.
  10. Greetings Defenders, Our expansion, Power of the Ancients is right around the corner. As a game and studio we are constantly evolving, and are trying to provide the best experience for our players and community both in-game and out. To not only keep the forums as a place to share with one another and provide great feedback, we want to make sure it only gets better as our community grows. This means we are updating our guidelines slightly to maintain a constructive, welcoming, and awesome atmosphere. Let’s take a look! Posting Guidelines Update Courtesy and Respect - Our game is full of a wide variety of people with various backgrounds. There is zero tolerance for insults directed towards sex, sexual orientation, race, spiritual background, disabilities, language barriers, handicaps, preferred platform, skill level, or anything used as an attempt to degrade another user. Users - Harassing or bullying other users will not be tolerated. This is a place for people to share their experience in-game, and come together as a community. Disagreeing or not liking a particular user does not turn the forums into a platform for the aforementioned. Dev Bashing - As developers in an ever-changing game, we are susceptible to making mistakes. We’re people, just like you, making a game that we hope you enjoy. Sometimes things don’t turn out how you may particularly like it, sometimes we overlook something. We see every post, and constantly encourage constructive criticism. The majority of the changes we make to the game are based off this feedback, and we’re thankful for your support in making the game better wherever we can. That said, we’re human, and prefer to be treated as such, so insults and talking-down will not be tolerated and promptly removed. Posting Standards - We want the forums to be a social hub where people feel welcomed and come to converse or inform one another. You all do a great job of helping others when asked, or informing them of ways they could improve if they are running into a wall they can’t quite get over. They are active discussions, and they are wonderful to see within the community. To have the forums continue to be a welcoming platform, moderators will remove posts that are: rants/rage-based, misleading titles, advertisements, spam, discussing closed/removed threads/posts, or any other inappropriate material. Privacy - Posting real life information of yourself or another user will be removed. Personal information will be removed regardless of the format it is provided in, and focuses primarily around name, address, e-mail, account information, IP addresses, or any other identifying info. Game Data Leaks - Within our ToS we discuss that you should not be datamining any information, along with sharing protected information. If we see this information posted, we will remove it without discretion. Things change with a live game, and we want to avoid misinformation or specific expectations being set that would not be met. NSFW material - This is anything that includes gore, pornographic, or otherwise adult in nature or offensive content. Trolling - Baiting users and belittling one another will not be tolerated. Anything skirting the line as inappropriate behavior under the discretion of CG or Moderators. If there is a failure to meet these guidelines (as well as our rules and guidelines posted here), we will at minimum execute the following: First Offense - Private Message Warning Second Offense - Two Week Suspension Third Offense - Permanent Suspension The first two offenses will fall off after a year from when they were initially issued. The moderation team will be able to track this information easily, so if you receive a warning and want to inquire about them, reach out to us. You will be notified of any warnings/suspensions. Sometimes we may not be the first to see something that may be against our guidelines. If you happen to see anything that concerns you, feel free to reach out to me or any of our moderators: Alhanalem Chesticles RaNgErZ-BERT These changes will not apply to the vast majority of our community, because you all tend to be pretty amazing and know how to present yourselves as such. We’re just making sure that we can continue to cultivate a growing community where people like you will feel welcomed and enjoy their time here. Stay awesome, Defenders! The Dungeon Defenders II Team
  11. It depends on the scope of the game and scope of DLC. We want our DLC to be big and feel meaningful. There's a 99% chance that platforms would not be cool with these carrying over. We cannot confirm, but we would not want to set any expectations on that, and are fairly confident it is not something that would fly.
  12. We want to get as many of the flex goals completed as possible. Some require more time or bringing on new members who have the specialty for a specific feature/service. It's all up in the air, but we're funded, so DD:A is coming regardless! :)
  13. A copy would need to be purchased for each platform. The platforms wouldn't be happy if you spent money on an Xbox product and then wanted Sony to also honor that purchase. It'll be similar to how Final Fantasy XIV handles the same functionality.
  14. You'd be able to use them on any platform. However, platforms require that you have a copy of the game purchased for each specific platform you use it on. This will most likely include DLC as well (Final Fantasy XIV is a perfect example of this).
  15. Shards are going to cost 12001 defender medals each. :)
  16. Defenders! We've been out at GDC and have knocked out goals, which thank you so much for all of your support. We were wanting to wait until we got back to get this out, but we're putting it out now! Since we're on the go, I'll be posting on Mark's behalf (he said someone only with superb wisdom such as myself could do so): Hey Defenders, While all of the Kickstarter awesomeness has unfolded (and it keeps climbing, which is awesome because it gives me more design work <3), we’ve been pouring over the feedback that we’ve gotten on our brand spanking new forums. I’ve been looking for an excuse to make my first post on here (haha he's not making it, but it is me, Lawlta), and luckily, there was one particular thread that caught my eye on the other day. A lot of defenders continue to have a rather lively conversation about loot acquisition for DDA. I thought I might take a moment and share my thoughts with all of you. Tower defense is the soul of Dungeon Defenders, but loot is its heartbeat. It serves as a catalyst for creativity, a reward worth chasing, and a means to push towards new and exciting adventures. We’ve learned a ton from the approaches that DD1 and DD2 took with loot, and I wanted to offer you a glimpse of our guiding principles that are helping shape DDA’s loot acquisition: The steps to get a piece of loot is clear and attainable. You are able to set a goal for yourself and intentionally target the loot you wish to obtain. Targeting loot DRIVES you toward the most exciting content available to you. You are not forced to replay content that you’ve out-leveled and no longer find engaging. DDA contains pieces of loot that are incredibly special. These items inspire you to partake in a long-term journey across the entire game. They are a reward for the most skilled defenders with the wherewithal to conquer some of the toughest challenges of Etheria. This special loot empowers you to take on the most epic fights that the Dungeon Defender universe has ever seen. These fights are an intense crescendo that let you take full advantage of the loot you earned and reward you for your mastery, effort, and dedication. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for the future, and how humbling all of your support has been thus far and in the future! Dungeon Defenders is starting a new chapter and I can’t wait for what’s to come, not only as a developer, but as a player who loves Dungeon Defenders with all his heart. We are still having active discussions on much of the game’s design and are using your feedback to help drive us forward. Please keep it coming and know that it shapes all aspects of DDA. Love, Mark Telfer Lead Designer

    March Check-in w/ LAWLTA

Greetings Defenders, We’re getting closer and closer to the next Dungeon Defenders II update! Our focus is on taking big strides to make this update as player-centric as possible, with even more player-centric changes coming out in future updates. Currently we’re working on Dungeon Defenders II and Dungeon Defenders: Awakened (check out the Kickstarter here), so we’ve been super busy and working at 385% (real metric). We have a lot to go, and this intro is long enough, so let’s get into it! Shard Vendor We’ve seen so much feedback on Shards for so long, and we’re able to now do something that makes it easier to receive them and farm for them however you want. Our primary goal was trying to get the vendor into an easily navigable menu while easily seeing as many shards as possible. Here’s what you can expect to see: We went through a lot of ways to figure out how to make them easy to get. We looked into shard dust, but then you’re still limited to farming a specific chaos tier to actually be able to earn a specific shard. We looked into ways of converting shard dust into different versions, but the ability to make that easy to do was very messy and hard to use (very frustrating), created a ton of technical difficulties for us, and ended up requiring more inventory management. Eventually we ended up landing on making them purchasable with Defender Medals. We currently have an RPG test going (contact dani.moore@chromatic.games if you want to join the test, are 18 or older, and can sign an NDA) testing this specific feature, but we do not have a specific price set yet. Going with Defender Medals allowed us a way to provide players a concrete way to earn them in multiple ways. If you want to farm a specific tier, you can still do that to maybe increase your chances a little more; but if you want to keep progressing while playing engaging content or just do dailies, you are now able to do those things while working towards a specific reward. Oh, and one last thing. This badboy has search functionality in it as well. It’s pretty dope. Chaos VIII Shards We’re bringing back Chaos VIII Shards. These are a slew of shards that will be obtainable through higher floors of Onslaught (similar to Chaos VIII Ampuoles). Because we want these shards to feel special and rewarding, they will not be purchasable with the launch of the Shard Vendor, but will be making a debut at a later date. We have some veteran Defenders who have held onto these for a long time, and the majority of these Shards are going to be re-enabled. There are two Shards that we are removing as they cause either tech issues (making mobs get stuck, lowering performance, etc). They are Harbinger’s Exile and Elemental Chaos. We’ll have a comprehensive list of these Shards with the update notes. New Mod — Poison Mod! We’re keeping good to our word and adding in Poison damage! There are certain towers that have Poison damage, and there is a Poison Damage Chip as well that can be applied to weapons. There may be a new weapon or two that comes with it by default… Also what would elemental damage be without any kind of combo? We’re currently adding our first Poison interaction. This one is pretty awesome. Combining poisoned enemies with earth damage now petrifies them. It’s like turning your enemies into a work of art. New Weapons We’re adding a slew of new weapons that you can earn while playing through Onslaught. At various tiers within Onslaught, you have a chance to receive an additional treasure that contains a random new weapon from that tier. Some of these weapons a few Defenders have seen before, but we’ve got a ton of new weapons that players have never seen, here’s one: There’s a lot more info on these drops and when you get them (you do get guaranteed drops), but we’ll have more information on these new weapons in our update notes. Campaign Gating Currently we’re working on changing up some of our campaign progression. This is to focus on letting Defenders play together as soon as possible. Our focus is to make this process feel as good as it can be. With what we’re able to do here, this could affect different areas in the game for future updates. More! There’s more coming as well, but this is a sneak peek, so we can’t talk about everything. We’ve been hard at work, so give us a little longer and we’ll get a quality update for you, our GLORIOUS Defenders! Social Defenders To get reliable updates on what’s to come, be sure to check out our social platforms for the latest juiciest beans to be spilled: Twitter Facebook Discord Twitch The entire team has had a blast making this content, we cannot wait for all of you to get your hands on our next update. Stay tuned for more info soon! For Etheria! The Dungeon Defenders II Team
  18. If there's no pizza in it, then what's the point?
  19. Please avoid leaks. However, since it's out, we've got two series we may or may not be working on: Initial D-fender: For the trailer, click here. the other series is a sitcom called "Don't Talk To Me Or My Dragon Son Ever Again":
  20. There's an easy way to solve this: just make all stats 0. It evens out, easy peasy. :)
  21. There's going to be tons of enemies, and there's no limit to the names that we can add. As for the skins, we'll be getting a preview out for them soon (the Crystalline one is pretty amazing)! Also, from a dev stand point, the one thing we want to communicate is that we're super grateful for any and all support you guys have put out. It's seriously been a big boon for us!
  22. We're taking a radical approach and using pizza as a currency. Pineapple pizza is negative currency and explodes your wallet/bank.
  23. The current idea is that you don't get any gear until the third DLC, then you only get one piece of random gear, and it can be traded up to 7 times. Welcome to my TED talk.
  24. He's the chief crab people engineer as well, which requires a coat and hard hat.
