  2. I've been a busy lad, my apologies for not addressing this sooner.


    There's a decent amount of toxicity in this thread. The thread initially was a bit touchy, but it's changed course and gone to Not-So-Greatsville. As there are multiple parties involved here, I'll leave it at this:  avoid personal attacks, focus on the arguments. Letting egos surface causes discussions to derail. We don't want to take action against individual users if we do not have to, but this isn't a place to slander one another.

    This thread is locked to prevent any more of the back and forth.


  3. Greetings Defenders,

    Protean Shift Hotfix 3.2.1 is now live on Xbox One! We're still working hard on getting our next update out on time, and were able to get an issue fixed on Xbox in the mean time:

    • Voice chat is active once again. There had been some changes with how Voice Chat works in Xbox and we needed to make adjustments so that it functioned properly.

    There's been a lot of feedback we've received about voice chat functionality, and are currently investigating ways to allow players to mute public voice chat for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There's a lot coming, so stay tuned for more info!

  4. Submitting the error codes through any methods provided by Microsoft can be very helpful. If you have any screenshots of the codes, feel free to PM them to me.

    We are reducing the amount of maps needed to complete in a floor with our next update that is not too far out. This should help considerably with these types of crashes as well.

  5. Make sure you guys avoid attacking each other, and stick to being objective with your criticism, instead of subjective and emotionally charged with it.

    Two points to address:

    1. Our metrics are very healthy with all platforms combined. You can speculate all you want for both sides, but the truth is both sides will never be right, because you don't actually know the real numbers, so everything is based off feel and guessing. We don't give specific numbers (steam charts does this, not us) to prevent these kinds of arguments from appearing. We're continuing to develop the game and don't have any plans to stop in the foreseeable future.

    We're getting closer to talk about some system changes (and some new beans) that are going to be coming in the update. We've used feedback a lot of you have provided in our recent surveys to help polish some systems (we've heard the feedback on multiplayer bonuses, and have something cooked up), and we want to give Ancient Power the same treatment. We've been hard at work tuning it to some of the wants and desires of the Community, and would love one last chance to get some feedback on the current system to make sure we aren't missing something.

    Fill out this survey, and let us know how you feel about Ancient Power. By doing so, we'll be selecting one winner to receive any cosmetic currently available for purchase in the game (even in Defender Packs). This survey will last until Tuesday 3PM EDT.

    In the very near future, there are going to be some big changes coming to Onslaught, details which we are going to be sharing soon. With this evolution of Onslaught, we wanted to make sure and spotlight one of our bravest Defenders, some of you know as Marcos [BR]. Marcos is the Defender who has dived the deepest into Onslaught, blasting past any expectations we had.

    Will he be able to get to Floor 999? We think so, but we wanted to make sure and have a little fun with it as well. From now until Marcos reaches Floor 999 or our next update releases, we are going to be holding a Community Event:


    The rules are simple:

    • Use any meme format
    • Cannot be offensive
    • Must be encouraging
    • Must be positive
    • Post it here
    • Only one entry per person

    It can be anything from low effort to incredibly high effort. We'll be going through all that follow the rules, the studio will vote for the (at least) two they like the most, and then also choose one at random. Winners will receive a special prize coming in our next update that we cannot show just quite yet.

    We can't wait to see what you make!

    In solo play, it's minimal. When you multiply the amount of items received in multiplayer, it starts to become not minimal. We tried to make sure that the reduction was as low as possible while making sure that the amount of gold received via vendoring in multiplayer sessions didn't have huge negative impacts on the economy.

    Income is not reduced by 1/4th. I've covered this in other threads, and validated by data that we've pulled, it is not even CLOSE to this number. Here's a list of things affected with this patch:

    • Selling price for gear to vendors reduced.
    • Item drop amounts and Victory Chest amounts in solo play left alone.
    • Map completion gold earned left alone.
    • Consecutive Win Bonus gold earned left alone.
    • Ancient Power gold gains left alone.

    We're not going to go into exact specific numbers, but the majority of the gold you earn is from map completion. Any perception of previously getting more items and getting less now is wrong. The average amount of items is the same, something we've verified and watched carefully. There are always chances to receive more or less gear drops, these have not been changed and again, the average remains the same.

    The total gold amount that players earn from completing a map (without Ancient Power bonuses or Consecutive win bonus) and selling all their gear now is somewhere between 100%> and 90% of what they earned before Patch 3.2. Not going to say where this amount is specifically, but it falls in that range. It gets closer to 100% (won't ever be 100% exactly, but gets incredibly close) the more Consecutive Win Bonuses you have and the more Ancient Power you have as well.

    There are probably a multitude of reasons players may feel its significantly less, I believe the main one is it's something that's being paid attention to more because it was mentioned as a change, and there are guesses on how much specifically earned. I believe one of our streamers even came forth saying they checked their previous VODs and their current playthroughs, and they're getting the same amount of items on average. 

    The bottom line is, I can tell you with certainty that this value of "1/4th less income" is flat out wrong and misguided. We've made sure to monitor this very carefully.

    Ok got some numbers.  Just ran 3 random consecutive maps in c7.  Number of items I received excluding shards was 26, 22 and 23.  Does that tally with what you were expecting?  Those are the sort of numbers I am getting consistently which is not even 3 lines of a bag.  I am sure I used to get anywhere from four through to six lines of a bag during a map.  Either way I am down significantly on gold.  

    I have now gone from ascension 158 where I hit c7 through to ascension 214 and found only one shatterquake mod and still have not found a shocking revelation mod.  I would find either of these regularly before the patch if I used the required character as my DPS.

    We can look into it, because if it is lower than previously (which our data currently does not reflect it is), it's a bug for stats we did not change. The only change made was to multiply Victory Chest gear based on amount of players in a session, nothing else was touched regarding gear.
