    I have one final question, why do I need mats?

    Assuming I only use 4-5 relics for each AP reset, and it only costs gold to upgrade them. Do I need mats to upgrade the mods on my relics? or will they auto upgrade to higher tiers as I upgrade the relic?

    Basically I dont know which mats I need and why.

    As I understand it: I go to like Onslaught level 100+ on my first reset, then do i climb to 100 again each reset? or just to 30?

    I will obviously only upgrade the relics/gear im using on my core heroes. which is basically 4 relics, maybe 5 (no longer really use SGT's as they are poop XD)

    I also guess i would upgrade my squire and my ranged monk gear too.

    does this mean you need to grind each chaos difficulty etc to upgrade your relics? I assume I would keep my existing relics as they have all the nice mods that I want. Please tell me you don't lose those right?

    Ouch at that game design. That kind of thing should be instantly fixed. But good to know!!

    As for the rest of it @Zimmermann you would need 2mil gold and 1 chaos 8 amp to turn the 10/10 c7 relic into a c8 relic. If you wanted to transfer that mod to an existing c8 relic, you'd need 25 pristine clusters and 200 medals / 60 gems to move it over.

    can i make a C8 relic with lets say a Tinacity 7/10, and then just farm up the mats and reroll for 10/10. or is there some hidden/unknown to me reason to not do this?

    As it seems like getting a C8 maxed out relic will be a shorter grind then a 10/10 mod (assuming bad luck)


  6. so im a total noob when it comes to mods (quit game before they were released)

    can one of you respond here with the complete process to get 100% tenacity effect? Also I presume this does not help against the freezing aura from frost orcs?

    second question: anyone know what I should do with pristine motes? as I have a lot of those compared to other mats.

    heh I started the process of quitting when they brought out mastery as i couldn't stand being forced to build in a specific way, however yes that version of Onslaught was the nail in the coffin. They massively improved Onslaught which brought me back after I had played multiple season of Path of exile and needed a break from that.

    DD2 is clearly going in the right direction, just sometimes it feels to slow with miner issues like UI and quality of life changes. I think its just as important to give feedback on problems and the frustrations caused as it is to just give feedback. Now that doesn't mean flaming, it just means expressing the consequences of a problem as sometimes devs don't realize how irritating, demotivating and frustrating a small issue can be.


  8. So I reroll the lost temple map over and over till i get the least awful lane mods.

    I build, but for whatever reason I miss place a load of towers (lanes activated that I have not seen in a long long time) So i am rebuilding and failing a few times. 

    Then I get 2 lanes that are utterly awful at opposite sides of the map this causes me at least 3-4 failures to complete the wave, but at this point im committed to this map as I am on wave 3. I work out the timings and win the wave eventually. I then have to do some IRL stuff its been at least 45 mins at this point.

    I come back cruise through wave 4 and have a similar problem as wave 3 on wave 5. I work out the timings but make a mistake and fail the wave with 14 monsters remaining, so i know its super easy to do. this is over an hour of play time on this map now.

    I am confronted with the usual Y to retry, N to quit, and my "start wave" muscle memory kicks in and I press G. 

    END OF GAME.

    What a complete wind up!!

    on a screen that gives you 2 options Y or N, G should not even have an effect. to continue one must either Press Y and start the next round or press N and then get to press G to end game. The game does not even mention that G has a function at this point...

    Anyway super frustrated, at this silly UI issue or bug?

     

    Stuff like this is really damaging to the game as this is the psychological effect:

    "ugh I cant face rebuilding the entire map... "

    loads of negative thoughts go through your head regarding this, rerolling the map mods, getting horrible lane mods, having to replay waves again etc. 

    All of this ends with you just quitting the game for the time being, and sometimes when you are planning on going back to the game you remember "oh yes I have to redo lost temple" and you just think... "ugh all that building again..." and you end up playing overwatch.


  9. Hi guys, My question is regarding Boom Servo and how it works.

    1. Must a Tower have the killing blow on the enemy to proc Boom Servo?
    2. Must a Tower simply deal damage to an enemy to proc Boom servo when the enemy dies?
    3. Must the Tower just be affecting the enemy to proc Boom servo when the enemy dies?

    So with that sad, could a boost aura cause enemies to explode if it simply slows them when they die? (Boosted Grasp shard) or does some damage to enemies (Drain Aura) to cause them to explode when they die or does it simply not work at all with this kind of tower/defense?

    I think ill get that Automation shard + aim for 100-120 then reset. and forget about getting a T8 relic, seems T8 relics are a waste of time if you are resetting for ancient power (if im not mistaken).

    the F273 firstly is not remotely realistic for me as I have no plans on building each lane independently or min maxing to the point where thats doable. In addition I dont even have or will ever have 3000+ ascension levels to make that kind of grinding worth while.

    Starting with 1000 ascension sounds really nice even without being able to stack endless amounts of defense power into 1 defense. I dont really want to play with 1 hero for 1 defense. I would rather having 2+ defenses per hero just so I dont waste insane amounts of time switching heroes and then forgetting something and have to go through switching all over again etc. It would be way to clunky and frustrating for me heh.


  11. Hi Defenders! 

    I am a returning player just wanting to play casually after over a year break. Basically I have completely lost touch with the basics of the game, so am quite enjoying learning it again, however there are a few things I would really like help with.

    1. What are the cookie cutter shards for defenses? (Is pure Defense power, ignoring crit viable?) I am running auras mostly, and using speed/range/defense power on my LSA and speed/range/water on my FA. I am paying close attention to my speed caps, and obviously would drop that shard if i could cap my speed without it, though not even sure how important speed is.
    2. When should i reset for Ancient Power? Currently just climbing onslaught to maximize my ascension levels before resetting at level 52 now. Do i Just keep climbing until I cant go any higher then reset? should I farm T8 relics first? Should I evolve my core shards first? Should I have a specific amount of gold/mats etc first? Am I over thinking this? XD
    3. What should I sell to other players? what are items everyone needs that sell fast and easy? currently vendoring everything and ignoring the market system as I literally have no idea how it works. Any good tutorial videos anyone knows about regarding this?
    4. What is the drop rate for T8 relic tokens like? Should I not expect to find any until nearing onslaught level 100? or am I due one already with reaching just level 56?

    Will add further questions when I think of them.

The impact of this would actually be huge in my opinion.

    If by BSOD you mean "Blue Screen of Death" this would not be DD2 it would be your PC.  It sounds like you have something corrupt or very messed up (Windows Update can even cause massive heartache).  When you receive the BSOD what does the memory dump tell you?  If it is occurring in PoE, Overwatch, and DD2 is the memory dump reporting the same thing? 

    It could be something as simple as a file.  However, if the memory dump is referencing the kernel that is pretty bad.  The memory dump could also reflect bad sectors on your hard disk or even a failing stick of RAM (those are the extremes).  More often than not formatting your hard disk (complete format) and reinstalling the O/S is one sure fire way to rule out software issues.

    hey, so two things.

    1, yeah the info you gave me on the cause of a BSOD confirmed what i already thought, I am not the best with computers so having someone verify my thoughts is always welcome. I always knew the BSOD's were an issue with my PC and not with the game(s). Its been 3 days and no BSOD since i made a few changes so I am hopeful things are improving but im still a little worried.

    2, my point of DD2 crashing or BSOD's, power outages, D/C's was more about giving plays some security outside of having a perfectly stable pc, game, connection, power supply. Having a "resume button" would be such a quality of life improvement for us all as everyone has had a d/c or game crash that plays DD2. The systems Overwatch and path of exile use are not perfect but they are far better then if you dc/crash you lose.

  14. gave it 1 last shot just to rule out bad luck, wave 4 I placed a blockade on the wrong side of a forking lane (previous game the monsters went left, this time they went right), I didn't actually even check the purple wisp line and caused myself to fail. Anyway hit that lovely "retry wave" button, and it BSOD'ed my PC.

    I don't think I have the patience to retry until after some patches with a huge wave of bug/crash fixes.

    Other then that, the game feels great, really wanted to climb some onslaught to maximize resetting my char and start grinding away at ancient power. Anyway till next time^^


  15. I have over the past few months really missed playing DD2, but sadly each time i try and return.. I can be half way through a map and it crashes. Crashing out on Lost Temple at wave 4 is enough to make me not bother again. 

    Now it could be bad luck, but on the first game when trying to return both times its a real disincentive to even bother. When a game hasn't got its "hooks" in yet, it really needs to win continuously to get players invested.. otherwise its "ugh, screw it.. i cant be bothered".

    Now I get bugs/crashes happen, but on a game like this it would be fantastic if you advanced the "retry wave" to save for up to 15 mins on disconnect/crash. This alone would resolve this frustrating issue of crashing/disconnecting and not wanting to have to repeat everything all over again.

    I remember even when I played this game obsessively in the past, a poorly timed d/c would stop me playing for that evening.

    With mods you should be ok though? Earthshatter with Earth Toss shuts down most lanes (except for the frosty ones that throw out lots of mobs, where FA and ballista work nicely), FA melts frosties, PDT deals nicely with controlled burn, LSA is great against bossess.

    Well i used to only use apprentice, squire and monk, but i dropped the apprentice because all i used from her was her frosties, and they are just no good anymore because of how they agro EMP kobolds. its sad but its not worth it unless you have crazy range on them and then positioning just gets awkward. I still use squire just for blockades, but I wanted to only use Monk so i could limit my grinding as I would only have to have 4-5 good relics total across all my defense heroes.

    Now ofc I know i could simply use 1 extra tower, and to follow the ground defense theme i could use a water guyser, but its just not as reliable because of the slow attack speed (tho not tried recently). also it breaks my setup a little which is just 4 heroes in my deck that i never change.

    Anyway, ill wait on the fix to shards and try again. I have very little time and a hell of a lot of solid games to chose from, so I am generally picking the ones were I get to play my style first an foremost. But DD2 is always there ready for me to invest some time in when the right patch comes along :)


  17. I came back after a long period away, and noticed my aura build was not working anymore... turns out the water elemental shard has been turned off. This is sad news, and frankly while the game has not gotten its hooks in yet, has caused me to quit once more.

    May return when its turned back on again or there is some other cool shards added which makes a 2-4 tower build work. I was never a fan of using 20 tower types with each lane being different, I liked making a build and clearing with that. 

    Other then that really like the changes to the game, love the customizability to relics (and gear tho i haven't bothered with that yet) the war table is great now (market place is still a wtf moment, and probably needs rethinking). but in general this game is getting so so much better, its just super unfortunate that those tiny things are tragically things that seem to always manage to break my build.


  18. I have to say, i really do like the changes to enable players like myself who enjoy specific builds rather then building every lane differently made in the most recent patch. Not only does it add much needed loot complexity and depth, but it allows "builds" to return, rather then countering each lane differently.

    It was that very aspect that forced me away from the game, as many of the defenses i simply didn't enjoy and the very idea of having every lane with a different combination of towers was something i was really against (which was why i disliked mastery so much).


    Anyway love the changes and wanted to give you guys some positive feedback from a returning player, though I am playing extremely casually currently. Also really looking forward to the removal of 3 maps per onslaught level (dreamanime) told me about. With a small daughter, i simply cannot invest enough time for 3 maps in a row during the day when i manage to escape for 10-15mins while she sits in our sliding door cloths cupboard while she plays "trains".

    Of course, perceptions will change once it comes to speed grind........

    thats my point though, in a month they still want you to play and you will still have to play this map every 3rd map in Onslaught which will cause a lot of frustration. I just don't see why we need to not learn the lessons of the past and make maps according to those lessons?

    Anyway maybe only a loud minority dislike Bastille, and maybe im just unaware of the silent majority that enjoy it. Again, not trying to hate just seeing some things that are glaringly frustrating to me and seem to just be repeating the problems of the past.

    btw an easy solution to this is the following:

    • Double the drops
    • maybe add an animation short to inform you a new lane is opening just like Bastille incursion lets you know the boss is spawning. With the option to cancel it and remove it in the options.
    • Double the chest rewards (both loot and shards)
    • Double the XP and gold
    • Basically treat these long slow maps as 2 maps in one.

    Mastery

    Mastery forces players to either play with all heroes or not bother, how does this work for those with only the classic 4 heroes? Has anyone tried to do mastery with the original 4? (I never bothered trying as when I started out I just wanted to get it done) This is a problem I had with the game back when the first heroes were being released. Content was balanced to the new overpowered heroes and those with the originals had to just farm medals to then start playing.

    In addition to this some of the achievements just seem designed to be annoying rather then fun. 10+ defense types, 1 of each defense type, build in under 30s+ the aforementioned defense types. There are a few more but I cant remember them as I quit dd2 mid M4 for the above reasons.

    Onslaught

    Forcing players onto your new map on every level past 60 (or whenever this starts) is just awful. Stop forcing players into tiny map pools or single maps its the worst thing you did since NM4 incursions, and you just kept repeating it in trials and now even worse in onslaught. The community was so so clear about this issue and iamisom took notice and past this feedback on. Yes we get monster scheduling may have been an issue but its just not good enough anymore. Let players choose maps or pick from a pool that includes all your maps.

    Forcing players to replay 3 maps to progress one level makes no sense, just have one map per level... why make it more convoluted and ambiguous then it needs to be? When you guys were explaining how the leveling worked on the live stream I honestly had no idea what you were trying to explain, it was so unclear and overly complex.  If 1 map per level is to simple or somehow breaks existing difficulty scaling just give each level 2 maps, none of this 1 map then 2, then 3 then repeat nonsense and just have it automatically save progress after each successful map.

    Ancient Power

    brings back the problem of having 1 hero per defense as it further compounds the oringal ascension level problem. When blacksmith originally suggested this system the idea was 1 hero could dps and build all towers. Sadly at the time pet stats mattered way more and ascension scaled to 999 per tower/ability etc. This was semi corrected with the caps being reduced and new content where pets did not scale removed them from mattering also. Now new players have always had this issue with needing multiple heroes, but once you had 500+ ascension one couold start to actually have a couple of defenses per hero and also be able to DPS. But with Ancient power this problem is going to return and stay due to caps increasing and the constant reseting of ascension.

    Was this problem even considered? whats the solution to not having 1 hero per defense tower and the return of the builder/dps issue?

    New map

    Remove new lanes opening as you play, it just slows down the game and turns the whole experience into a slow drawn out ordeal especially considering its always the 3rd map on each Onslaught level. What a horrible experience on the first play through missing a lane opening on wave 5 and being tricked into a 3 map loss. Stuff like that is annoying, wakes up my wife when I sware at the PC and causes me to insta log out. I do not have the time or patience to play 3 maps every time I make 1 silly mistake.
