Is anybody else experiencing unusual lag on ranked??

Recommended Posts

Damn Trendy, quite crafty fellas, the HIB thing skyrocketed the user base, it's been ages since I saw more than 3k players in-game.

But that's besides the point, I was just speaking with some steam friends about how the game is feeling kinda laggy in ranked, and even more on open.

I just fully checked my connection and everything is working as usual.

Or maybe it's because the steam sale, could that affect ranked latency?

TrendyNet itself doesn't affect your connection because you only use it for game saving and authentication. Nothing like hosting is involved. Granted Steam is having its Sale so downloads maybe slower but any actual lag would be on your end or the host end if you're the client. (or the Internet).

Alrite, I guess it's time to look for stealth spyware.

I found not watching Netflix helps.

I have had, at one time, DD running on 5 computer with Netflix streaming on an iPad and 2 TVs and experienced zero lag. Having an awesome connection helps the most.

This :) 50/50mbit on fiber so I'm getting pretty good feedback when I host ^^

I tend to lag in most other games I enter though, more than just the europe-NA travel time.

1) Check your net connection. Make sure your up and down speeds are where they should be for what your paying, check packet losses. If you have spyware sending out tons of request this should give a hint to that.

2) Anything updating itself? Windows likes to update as well as other programs.

3) All your connections connecting? Limelight and Valve connect from many different places. A firewall, router, Peerblock can block some of these connections. Are these connections allowed to fully go through? Normally blocking one of these just end up in a disconnect, but something can be limiting them.

4)
Background task. Look at what is eating up memory. Any process eating up lots of memory, then go to zero again. CTRL+ALT+Delete to check these.

5) Driver and sound updates. Sometimes we install stuff that over rides our original drivers. Other games, apps, video players. When that happens then performance can be compromised as our game trys to run through that "NOW" default driver.
This has happened to me several times.

Firewall. Get a good firewall that will tell you want is coming in and going out. If you have a virus, you need to at least lock it down.

Comodo is very highly ranked, and will let you know if anything try's to go out or come in. It's also free.

Good luck in finding the issue.

Mike.

What's really bugging me right now is every survival I've tried to do, Steam will kick out for literally 1 second, then be back.

So all my progress is lost and I have to setup everything all over again.

It's not my connection/computer. Nothing has changed on it in over a month (it's my 'gaming only' pc). This problem started last night and has carried over into today.

Have nothing else using bandwidth - 10/20MB cable.

I think it's an added anti virus, and computer tech help.
