Anyone else here waiting for Torchlight 2?

Recommended Posts

Astro,

The Torchlight games are dungeon crawling hack n' slash loot games along the lines of Diablo. They are done by Runic Games, a studio founded by some guys who left Blizzard North after Diablo 2 (Max and Erich Schaeffer are two, honestly don't remember who the third was at the moment). As one might expect given that fact, Torchlight one plays quite a bit like Diablo 1. While the first game does have some shortcomings, it was a rush job. The Runic devs were anxious to get a game out the door after the demise of their previous endeavor Flagship Studios (the mid point between Blizz North and Runic). As such, the game had a development cycle of only 11 months and was released in late 2009. Torchlight 2, on the other hand, has spent at least two years in development and is building very nicely upon the foundation of TL 1.

If you're interested in checking it out, Torchlight has a free demo you can play. It is time/level limited, but if you enjoy it you can unlock the demo with a purchase and continue your existing demo character from where you left off. Torchlight one is also available as a pre-order bonus for those who pre-order TL 2 through Steam.

If you'd like to try out TL1 and see what you think, shoot me a PM with your Steam ID. I've got an extra gift copy I can send your way.

Torch Light, in it's current form is near perfection. It's only drawback is it's lack of CO-OP support.

I'll probably pick up Torch Light 2 when it launches, because Diablo 3 is starting to wear thin and having experienced Inferno difficulty, it has nothing more to offer.

Can't wait. The only question I see is steam or no steam. I currently plan on buying straight from Runic and avoiding steam since I'll be on the road in the fall and won't always have inet access.

There's offline mode.. Though usually I have issues starting that up when I'm not connected to the internet, so you have to go into offline mode while you're connected. Pretty annoying.
