Gamblor 0 Posted June 2, 2012 My recent builds, nearly half my time is spent carefully placing minions on buff beams, its extremely difficult to place them correctly to get the buff. In a 'slap forehead' moment, I moved one mid-round off a buff-beam, then remembered I could control and move them manually. Expanding that to pre-game, rather than spend 30minutes placing minions carefully on the beams (in aquanos) I summon them anywhere, then manually move them on to the beam. They seem to compress better as well, keeping them away from walls. Its cut my minion setup time to 1/3 of before. Might be old news for the experienced, but a new idea for others. Bogdanov89 1 Posted June 2, 2012 Not sure i understood what you are saying; do you mean you found out how to use the "Overlord" mode, or something else?
ZombieGirl 0 Posted June 3, 2012 He means instead of summoning the minions directly upon the buff beams (in which case minions must be spaced by a certain amount, much like towers/turrets), he summons them wherever and manually moves them onto the buff beams, in which case they end up being more compact than if you tried to build them directly upon the beam in the first place. Arctura42 0 Posted June 8, 2012 I do this all the time, except very often I have harpoons on the buff beam already, which initially made it much harder to have them go onto the buff beam as they would follow the harpoon instead and not actually go where I wanted. Worked around this by ordering the minion to move past the buff beam, then ordering him to move onto the tower when he was passing through it which made him follow the harpoon, and then manually commanding him to hold defensive. This allows for very high saturation of defenses and minions on a small buff beam, and otherwise just lets you place minions inside towers - don't know if you can do the same with the crystal, but I assume you can. Xjphantom 0 Posted June 8, 2012 You can also use the "move defensive" command to effectively do this, and yes, they can be "inside" a crystal
Defender 001 0 Posted June 14, 2012 If a minion dies while on the beam, does the beam go down?
Rominus 0 Posted June 14, 2012 If a minion dies while on the beam, does the beam go down? Yes it does, same with if you sold a minion on a buff beam during combat phase.
Waffletime 3 Posted June 14, 2012 I call this the "Aperture Effect". You start off with a clearly defined core that everything branches off of. Each branch also has branches and so on. After spending a majority of time on these branches, you will inevitably return to the core but totally have forgotten the basics in the flood of advanced techniques. Named for that one bloody test that took me an hour and a half to solve in Portal 2 because I forgot I could walk through portals.
