imported_some_guy 1 Posted May 24, 2012 He is a lot of fun to use. Does he make the game easier? Sure, but I don't see why that's such a problem. First of all, you're not forced to use him so if you feel that he takes away the challenge then don't. Or find some creative way to limit yourself (i.e. doing the campaign maps with only summoned minions). And let's be honest here, when you're running Aquanos to wave 30 (which seems to be where several of the OP complaints that I saw came from), you're not doing it so much for the challenge as you are to farm better gear. Second, he is going to help out with progression significantly, imo. We all know that progression in this game needs some work, and the summoner is one of the answers. You could make the argument that it's paid progression, but then you can say the same thing about the Series EV or even just the shards map themselves (for the fact that it comes with early access to nightmare). The fact of the matter is that Dungeon Defenders was obviously designed with future DLC in mind (I knew this when I bought it), so it shouldn't be too surprising that some of it makes the game easier, unless you just want them to do map DLC only which is no fun. Some of the people that are complaining that he's OP are probably the same ones that got the jump on nightmare gear before all the buffs, so they had an advantage over the rest the players that are trying to do it now. I think it's great that those who were late to the party are now getting an advantage too. Besides, how many game companies (let alone small ones like Trendy) release DLC like this this far after the game's launch that adds a completely new mechanic to the game and can completely change the way you play? Not very many. Usually It's just a map/skin pack. Trendy has done a wonderful job at extending the life of their game and keeping things fresh. And, I know this is only a very small amount, but I think the only reason some are complaining that he's OP is because they don't like the fact the end game content is going to be more accessible to us middle of the road players. They're not going to feel as 1337 when we can get supreme weapons and armor too; they couldn't care less about the challenge aspect because the game was already a cakewalk for them before he was introduced. And when players were complaining that the new mobs made nightmare too difficult, I would always see the "Nightmare is not a finished product and you should expect changes that might make the game more difficult. Learn to adapt QQ" retort. Well, hey... nightmare just changed again (so did the other difficulties, but nightmare is what most of us here play) but you knew it wasn't a finished product when you bought it so stop complaining that it's easier now. And also, this off topic... but I think it would be a lot of fun if we could get some sort of Summoner pvp map where 2 (or more) summoners can have their summoned armies duke it out. tl;dr Summoner is awesome. Great job, Trendy.
Lourishinfox 0 Posted May 24, 2012 I don't complain a lot, and I'm sure we can all agree that trendy introduced a new game mode into DD. I don't see him as OP, but he does make soloing easier. You have a good post here, and I'm sure everyone from trendy will like it :P Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

snipyro 0 Posted May 24, 2012 Great post, I agree completely. Loving the summoner as he is, and it's definitely helping my friend and I enjoy the game more. Would love to see more of this kind of innovative work from Trendy. I hadn't played DD in a long while as I didn't find it interesting anymore...but this just got me back in the game. Myster2 0 Posted May 24, 2012 I haven't had a chance to try him yet but i'm loving the concept. I stopped playing DD after sharken for awhile due to being extremely annoyed as I was just starting to get into high level survival then that got destroyed by sharken.
