Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 Very sorry for this double post but I forgot I cant edit at work and I have to get this done at work so please delete this one --> http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?62568-Urza-s-Massively-Oversized-Gihugeant-Noobie-Primer-GuideThe Noobie Guide Revision 1.02 Next to add: Player submitted info. I like to help new players with tip that the rest of us found out the hard way. I have tons of hours played but a lot of it is afk shop. I present a massive amount of Tips for noobs. The key point of each is in bold. This is an extremely long post but it is super handy info for new peeps. This post took me many many hours at work to complete. Please give me a nice reply and a 5 star rating if it helped you. Also post a reply if you see information that is wrong. There is a glossary at the bottom of page.GENERAL GAME INFORMATION1) Nightmare is in BETA. PROOF:A) This is so players understand that nightmare is undergoing continual balancing. B) Nightmare will not leave BETA until all eternia shard expansions are released and further balancing is done. So you are a BETA tester. Welcome to the team. Help them out with positive feedback and bug reports.C) Classes will continue to undergo balancing. Don’t get bogged down with playing the current “IT” class. The continual balances will even things out in long run. Just play what is fun for you. If you get too set with using 1 overpowered class then you will get hammered when that class is balanced.2) Tavernkeep perks. The tavernkeep performs many functions: A) Will allow you to rename, respec, or get an experience boost. This xp boost is usable once per level. B) Will sell you items that change each time you beat a map. You can lock these items from changing if you don’t have the mana to buy them right away. Note that you should check the tavernkeep’s weapons each time for the cardboard tube as it’s a very rare weapon as is a novelty of sorts. Contrary to what I originally posted, you dont need the PAC to be able to get this weapon. Correction on this by dtr86. C) Buys items you don’t want up to 600m.3) Minimap Information. The minimap default key is shift. It will show you useful information in an overview of entire map including all of these:A) Players locations.B) Tower locations and health of towers. The redder the deader! Aura and trap will blink red when near death.C) Enemy spawn zones and enemies. Enemy spawns are purple half circles (Will not show flying spawn zones). Enemies are represented by their picture. Very handy to track down the last couple of monsters in an uberfest or to see where ogres are spawning so you can go dps them.D) Chest locations. These pop out loot and mana. Give all the mana and give to the builder! Default to drop mana is M.E) Loot! Loot is represented by a colored dot with the exception of accessory is a mask symbol.1) Green = Upgrade for your character. Will override other colors. They should change this and make upgrades for your character blink and keep the color. 2) Blue = Mythical 3) Violet = Transcendent4) Yellow-Orange = Supreme5) = All Accessories4) Active Character Tower Damage Boost. A character that is present in a wave has towers that character built boosted by 33% damage.5) Etiquettes. Be nice and do these things!A) Ask a game host what the loot rules are before you start yoinking items. He may make you wait till the end of round, only take upgrades for you, free willy lootfest, or if you take anything then you are kicked because he is greedy! I myself go free willy most the time.B) Don’t go afk in people’s afk store or a game without mentioning your reason. C) Explain to someone why you are kicking them from your game.D) Upgrade a token to at least within 1m worth of base 200m, 400m, or 600m. E) Don’t lord over noobs and refuse to explain or help them in some way.F) Dont just DPS in a map unless host asks you do. Repair defenses too.G) Don’t make forums posts whining about the reasonable cost of DLC. It’s a business. IF they don’t make money then you won’t have to worry about the price of future DLC because there won’t be any future DLC. Don’t like the price? Wait for a sale or skip your coffee for the day. Problem solved.
Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 HERO RELATED1) Respecing. You can respec as many times as you wish for the low price of 100k. This resets all level up points and allows you to choose distribution again. You can hit control while pressing a stat to instantly raise it to max or put whatever points you have left into it. Remember not to go over 100 speed because it won’t do anything.2) Character Speed and the speed cap. A total speed higher than 100 will not make your character move faster but your choice of character will. The female versions of the classes move faster and have less health with default skins. If you are going to make an inactive tower based character, then you may want to make it female so she moves faster. Note that some skins people tell me change some of this. For example the Mitt Romney skin makes the male squire move quite fast or so I have heard. You will find that having less than 100 speed is a significant handicap.3) Hero Cast Rate. This affects how fast you create and repair DU defenses. A hundred is fine here to summon defenses. You may want considerably more if you need to repair defense. Too low and it will take you too long to repair or create defenses to be worthwhile. Don’t fret having to put some points in here instead of another stat. Many a hero has had to put points into this stat to even it out.4) Hero Arsenal. You will want to start with either a squire or apprentice and go tower based for your stats and items and upgrade your weapon for dps. You can have a total of 32 characters. Your goal in the future will be to get the following characters in your arsenal at LV 74 at least:A) Tower Based Monk or Initiate - You will need ensnare and strength drain auras.B) Tower Based Huntress or Ranger - You will need at the very least gas traps.C) Tower Health EV - To make the EV walls which are the bestD) Pure DPS char with DPS pet - For use in maps/challenges where monk support is no good. Your choice on what character to pick as your pure DPS here.E) Monk Support - This character is invaluable for boosting towers and character damage. A very fun character to play. Combine with a genie and nosferatu or lemurian halberd to keep the buff up.
Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 EXPERIENCE RELATED1) The Level cap is 83. It takes a total of 150,103,538 XP to reach level 83. Some key points are below:A) The best way to level your characters is by playing a speedy map on nightmare relying on the wave completion xp for a majority of the xp gain. Insane/nightmare aquanos survival are also ways to do it with insane being particularly useful if you want to watch tv or afk it. Glitterhelm is fast and so is misty to some extent, and aquanos. You can also beat the queen solo using a EV reflect beam. You can just restart aquanos if you cant beat kraken. The 35% xp boost recently implemented makes nightmare the best over insane. 2) Splitscreen is win. You can also speed up leveling by using the virtual or real controllers to level up more than one character at a time. This is advanced and requires some effort to set up. Took me a couple of hours to get it all working. You can see how to do keyboard virtual here --> http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?52007-Xbox-Controller-Emulation-using-Keyboard-Solo-Splitscreen. This is the guide I used. I have some posts in that thread that might help you. There may be a better method now. Keep in mind your extra characters will need a dps pet to make it easier to kill an enemy. (Laser robot is good here letting you position the character behind walls and stay protected) The character should not build and if that character or the character’s pet kills an enemy then that character will get the *1.3 only used weapons bonus. Protect with reflect walls if needed. If you do it perfect then you can get close to 5m xp from glitter nightmare for your afk characters. Your main character will most likely get hurt and miss the no player damage bonus.3) Buy some. You can visit the tavernkeep and buy xp each time you level. 2) Bonus experience. You get bonus experience based on awards and multipliers. Awards are bonus of experience for doing sometime like killing 10 enemies is 5 seconds or keeping full defense units for the wave. Multipliers are the ones that make a big difference. These are as follows:A) No core damage = *1.3 (If your crystal gets hit and you don’t know how it could be an archer doing it.)B) No player damage = *1.3 (A very odd bonus in my opinion rewarding players who go and hide)C) Only used weapons = *1.3. If you use towers that do damage then you will not get this so you can use the ensnare for example and get it. This one sucks if you are the main builder as you will not get this bonus. It seems you have to kill at least 1 enemy with your weapon or equipped pet to get it. Laser robots work well here for afk splitscreen characters.
Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 ITEM RELATED1) Overcap stats. Sometimes during high survival waves items drop with stats over the cap except resists. These stats will become 117 for people that were not the host of the game in some cases (at least they did back in the day). If you make a trade with someone and this happens then request a refund. I have not had this happen in quite some time and it may not exist anymore. If you buy a guardian in tavern and it has over 128 (not 100% positive on this number) boost then it will overcap goto a negative when you buy it. Sometimes even if you are host you will see an item on ground with overcap stat like block on a weapon that will become a negative once you pick it up. 2) Armor set bonus. A set of armor of matching type (pristine, mail, ect) gains a bonus based on its quality. Note that the change from myth to transcendent is only 3% so myths can be a bargain over transcendent if you can find some with high stats and upgrades. A) Godly or less 25% B) Mythical 30%C) Transcendent or Zamira 33%D) Supreme 36% 3) Multiplayer loot. Loot drops with better quality with the more players in a map. This is especially important in monster fest maps where 8 players can be in the game. Will have to investigate further as I have seen some forums posts against this now.4)Upgrading items. Keep these in mind when upgrading your items:A) Tower stat scaling. Tower damage is most important in general.1) Monk – If you like the heal and electric aura then you will want tower damage high. If you only use aura for ensnare and strength drain then you need damage to be so high. I will work on getting exact numbers in the future. The one thing you don’t want to do is pump range past about 1800 as the diminishing returns are horrible. I had 3k and another guy had 2k and the difference was about 1 inch. I would say tower health would be most important for ensnare only aura user.2) App – Tower damage is most important. Tower rate is 2nd most important. Don’t skimp too much on tower health or range though. Get at least 1000. 3) Squire – Tower damage is most important. Tower rate is 2nd most important. Don’t skimp too much on tower health or range though. Get at least 1000.4) Huntress – Trap damage is most important if you use proximity or inferno. 2nd most important stat is trap health as long as you have 1000 or so range and rate. You don’t need mega stats if all your huntress makes is gas traps. Trap health is most important if you just use traps for gas. If you get range too high then your traps of same type can overlap and set each other off so huge trap range isn’t always a good thing.B) Pro mode will let you quickly upgrade an item with just a click. Be careful though as it is easy to misclick this way.C) You always want to upgrade number of shots and attack speed on dps weapons and pets whenever possible and then damage of the weapon. There is no reason to ever upgrade a hero stat or tower stat on a pure DPS weapon as you will always choose more damage over stats.D) Keep these in mind for upgrading armor: 1) You always want to upgrade resists on armor that your character will be wearing when the round starts. If you have a character that comes in and builds something and is swapped for another character when round starts then this character's armor does not need resists. This is known as an inactive builder. 2) You can upgrade armor to a resist of 23-24% straight away and then upgrade it once every 10 levels. To make the most of your 1 every 10 upgrades get a resist to 23-24% as soon as you can. Don't spread it out in each resist. Physical is the most important resist to get 90%. 3) Resists in nightmare are multiplied by .55 and not in half like I originally posted so you will need 164% in each for max resists. The best way to upgrade your stuff for use on nightmare is to start a nightmare survival map and do it within the map. This is so you don’t waste points upgrading past a limit. You don’t have to worry about this until you get armor with 200+ upgrades. This information was fixed by betaworx.E) Any item fully upgraded can be renamed. This can help you organize sets with the same name. Handy to include the type of armor in the name. If you mess up and just hit accept on an empty rename then the weapon will be named based on actual name of weapon and its upgraded level. If you don’t need the very last upgrade on an item and don’t care about the rename then leave items one upgrade short. These items sell better because then the buyer can rename them. You can cancel a rename by naming the item anything and then clicking back option in item box. Sometimes this will bug the item so it cannot be renamed. You can fix this by dropping it on the ground of tavern and picking up most the time. You can also fix by trading to someone and they trade it back to you.F) Most people will upgrade the base damage of a weapon and not the elemental damage of the weapon. This is because your HERO DPS stat increases base damage and not the elemental damage. There are reports of some weapons that elemental damage of the weapon is increased by the HERO DPS stat. It is unknown if this is intentional or not. At the very start of game you may want to ups elemental damage of your weapons since your HERO DPS stat will be low. You will then have to rely on magic blockades or darkness traps to remove immunity of monsters that match the element of your weapon.G) Upgrading DPS pets. Always upgrade attack speed and number of shots to max first so you don’t forget later. Then upgrade its generic damage. You only want to upgrade the elemental damage of a pet when you are first starting the game. This is because your hero dps stat will affect the generic damage of your pet and when you first start this hero dps stat will be low. You should never upgrade a tower stat or a hero stat on a pet you want for pure DPS.
Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 ECONOMY1) There are 2 mana caps in the game.A) Soft Mana Cap is 600m. You can reach this cap from selling items either to tavernkeep or from the start of round autosell in a map. If you are 599.9m and continue to the next round in a map which auto sells all the items then you will have 600m.1) If you sell an item worth say 657m to the tavernkeep, then you will get 600m.2) If you hit sell all in your full item box and those items collectively are worth over 600m, then all items will sell and you gain 600m mana. 3) IF you are over 600m and sell items then items will be sold for nothing.B) Hard Mana Cap is 2 billion. You can reach this cap ONLY by selling items in your afk store or trading with players. 2) Mana Trade Bug = Never trade all your mana away. There is a bug that sometimes strikes when you make a trades. in which all of one person's mana is in the trade. This bug makes everything involved in the trade disappear. So If you buy an item for 600m mana and are making the trade then instead give them 599.9999m. This does not happen when buying from people's stores. Information on this bug --> http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?61732-WARNING-to-traders!-The-trade-bug-is-back-with-a-vengeance. Where to go if this happens to you --> http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?59752-Trade-Bug-2.03) Mana Tokens aka Tokens. The short version is that a mana token is any item worth 200m or more. The most common versions are 200m, 400m, and 600m. They are the default item to make trades on forums and buy items in tavern showcases (on ppl tavern floor). Retributions seem best to make 400m tokens that I have tested because it takes the least to upgrade them to 400m. Use the highest value weapons you can.A) If you have an item close to 400m or 600m (perhaps old weap) then make it a 400m or 600m token. Making 1 400m mana tokens is more expensive than making 2 200m mana tokens.B) For some useful information see my guide here --> http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?50422-Sticky-me!-Mana-Token-Guide. I haven’t updated this post in awhile but I will do it eventually.4) A Sell No-No. Selling items or mana for real money or trading items for games is against the rules. You can get banned if you do this. You run a great risk buying in these stores because many have hacked items. If you find a shop selling for real money or trading for games then See below. Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 SELLING RELATED1) AFK store tips and information. A) People hate going through folders that are empty. Label them as empty. B) You don’t need subfolders unless you have many items that need separation. C) Keep it simple if possible. If you only have 5 pets for sale then you only need 1 folder called pets. You don’t need a folder for each pet type or number of ups.D) Repeat customers want to find NEW items fast. Dedicate one folder just to new stuff. E) Customers will want to see the best items fast. One folder for transcendent and one for supreme is a generally good strategy.F) Some ppl are in search of very big weapons, novelty items like strange colored weaps, or bright colored or big pets. You can sell these in your store even with bad stats in some cases. G) If you go to a store and some items have a black border and you cannot see the stats then this means the seller is close to the mana cap of 2billion and the game is preventing you from buying the item. Ask the seller to spend mana.H) If you can specialize then this will help you. Like All Transcendent items or genie store or only positive stat armor or only transcendent and supreme.I) Name your shop something memorable and catchy and include trans if you are selling trans. Many ppl name their store WAP and it gets confusing remembering where you have and have not shopped. I did better with the name Urzas Green Eggs and Ham Shop than Urzas WAP 100-200 stats shop.J) Items you put in store for storage that cost 0 are still listed in Dungeon Defenders Store so ppl will ask about them.2) Tavern Floor Showcase. If you are going to use the tavern floor as a showcase then keep all these in mind:1) Make a way to identify your steamID so ppl can friend you and contact you. You can rename a cheap item (A Big weap works well) and drop it on ground or make a folder in store or do what I did and make a seller character (barb or EV to hold extra item) and have this character have all renamed items with notes like Welcome 2 Store. 2) You also don’t want to drop items you could sell for 600m or less as these should go in your store. 3) You don’t want to drop bad items or items you have no intention of selling or serve no purpose as this is will cause players to think all your items are bad or not for sale and they will leave. 4) Earn all your trophies. Makes your store look more pro and you as well. You want to look pro don’t you? 3) Forum selling tips:A) You can sell items for tokens or trades here --> http://forums.trendyent.com/forumdisplay.php?32-PC-(Ranked)-Trading-and-Grouping. B) Take pics as a character that would use the item.C) Don’t take a picture as a barbarian. Ppl don’t know what his tower things mean and whatnots. D) Take pictures of weapons, pets, accessories with it in item box using the item info button. This gets you the best pics that are easy to crop in my view. Make sure to unlock before taking picture so the lock symbol isnt in the pic. Armors you can take pic with armor on ground of tavern so you get the smaller pic. This is because for armors you dont need to see the size and color.E) Crop your pics to make the stats bigger and load faster. Dont make the pictures too big though. Being able to get at least 2 side by side in post before it moves down is good. F) The size and the color of weapons, pets, and accessories are important. Size is more important than color. Make sure your pic shows the item size at the very least. Accessories need to have the look shown as big as possible. Armors dont need this so you can make those pics very small by just taking pics with item on ground and not in box.G) If you do take pics with item on ground of tavern then do it naked so the compare pics don’t come up or be prepared for ppl to make offers on the compared items.H) Information you should have on your post are as follows:1) Your steam id.2) How you plan to have auctions end.3) How you handle buyouts.4) How much you value 200m, 400m, and 600m tokens with regards to mana and how much current special items are worth in regards to tokens. For example, humungo eggs most ppl are valuing at 3-5 200m tokens. Most ppl also value 200m tokens at 250m and 400m tokens as 2 200m tokens. 5) The minimum increase in bids. IF you don’t specify then ppl will beat a 45 bid with a 46 bid and that will piss ppl off.
Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 HACKING To report a player for hacking use the official link here --> http://dungeondefenders.com/report-a-player1) How to detect hacked items is now divided into 2 sections because of post by merryjester. These sections are things which 99.99% assure item is hacked and things that just make it more suspicious an item is hacked. A) 99.99% sure these mean item is hacked.1) An item with a worth of 1 with no upgrades or limited upgrades. It takes hundreds of upgrades to get a pet or weapon to even approach being able to roll over to 1 mana.2) Is the item super huge? Hacked items will sometimes be abnormally huge to the point of being funny. The reverse doesn’t seem to be true. I have seen some ridiculous tiny legit items.3) Does the armor let a lower character equip it that should not be able to? For example, a transcendent armor can only be equipped to a level 78+ character. This doesnt apply to zamira armor.4) Does the item have a prefix reserved for another type? For example, only armor can have the enchanted prefix and only weapons have the electric prefix.5) Does the item allow you to upgrade it past its limits? For example, you can only upgrade a mythical to a max of 360 and a transcendent to a max of 420. If you have a mythical and it lets you ups it past 360 it is hacked. 6) Are the item stats out of order? For example, on the middle row on armor, the armor will always go from left to right = hero health -> speed -> hero dps -> cast rate, ect. If you have an item that shows cast rate -> hero dps -> speed then its hacked. I will get some pictures in here for the guaranteed order but text wise it always goes like this from left to right: Hero Health -- Speed -- Hero Dps -- Cast Rate -- Special 1 -- Special 2 -- Tower Health -- Tower Rate -- Tower Damage -- Tower Range7) Some hacked weapons will be obviously hacked and have 99999 upgrades or do 15000 damage at level 1 or an armor at level 1 with 99% all resists. Make sure you don’t miss these.8) An armor without upgrades that has a 0% in a resist.9) An armor with unlucky prefix but all positive resists at level 1 upgrade.10) Something that makes no sense like a weapon with extra projectiles that shouldn’t have it like a squire sword or a weapon with resist physical on it or a armor with a picture of a shroomite. B) These make it more likely an item is hacked in order of important with most likely at top. These do not 100% mean an item is hacked.1) An item with a worth of 1 with hundreds of upgrades. This was supposed to have been fixed so more info is needed on this.2) Is the item renamed? Items with many upgrades that are maxed but have no rename are slightly suspicious as most ppl will want to rename the gear they worked hard to upgrade to max. If on rename you just hit accept, then the item name becomes the identifier and this is how it happens. 3) Does an armor/pet let a lower character equip it that should not be able to? For example, a transcendent pweapon can only be equipped to a level 78+ character. Merryjester pointed out that some map completion rewards have lower requirements like the mythical sicarius. So before you report for this look the item up to see if it is a reward weapon. I will list the ones ppl list here but I am not going to investigate at this time: A) Mythical Sicarius. B) Reward pets like the epic chicken. The epic chicken is transcendent but you can equip it at level 70.4) Did you get the item for too good a price or from someone you don’t know or it was dropped in your store? Check profiles if buying and see how much time they have played dungeon defenders. IF they are on a level 1 char and have say 5 hours in the game then the chance that this is just an extra account selling hacked items is very high. Ask for their steamid. People who give that out readily are less likely to be hacking. Does this person sell items with 400s to 3+ stats and have only have 20 hours played? Look at their screenshots on steam profile. Some ppl don’t realize you can look at these unless they block or move them from public. Are there hacked items on this page with their character name? You can actually find this out anyway using steam overlay.5) Does item have attributes that exceed wiki? If in doubt do as much investigating as you can. IE check the max stats for the item on wiki. A retribution for example cannot have an attack rate of 8 or higher. Wiki does have errors though so this does not 100% guaranteed an item is hacked but it is a strong indicator.2) Steps to reporting USD item shops or shops trading for games. Fairly involving here. These sellers are somewhat cautious if they have a lot of items for sale. A) Play it cool and pretend you are shopping so look around a bit. B) Find an item your class would want then ask how much it is.C) Barter a bit as it seem more likely you want it.D) Get them to quote a real money price or trade deal on something. E) Screenshot them with F12 if using steam.F) Goto steam overlay and then recent players and current game/recent game and then find and copy the link to their profile. G) You now have all the information to report them. Thx for doing this.3) Steps to reporting USD mana shops - These ppl will commonly name their shop the trade value so it might say 2b = 1$. These ppl are not very cautious as they don’t have much to lose if caught. ( Prolly not many item on ground.)A) Play it cool and ask if you can get a discount. Say Can I get 5b for 2$ (This is based on my 2b = 1$ example). They hack mana so they will do it.B) If they try and negotiate through steam then just continue to do it ingame if you can. You can take a desktop screenshot with print screen and paste to a program like paint if you are feeling up to this much work.C) Once you got them admitting to selling mana in game for real money then screenshot them with F12 if using steam.D) Go to steam overlay and then recent players and current game/recent game and then find and copy the link to their profile. E) You now have all the information to report them. Thx for doing this.4) Steps to reporting hackers. This takes some experience to spot sometimes unless blatant. For example after some playing you would know retributions don’t shoot 5 bullets, dragons can’t have an attack speed of 10, and a weapon will not have enchanted in title as that is reserved for armors.A) Hover over the hacked items and screenshot them with F12 if using steamB) Goto steam overlay and then recent players and current game/recent game and then find and copy the link to their profile. C) You now have all the information to report them. Thx for doing this.
Urza 0 Posted May 17, 2012 GLOSSARYA) G - Asking you to hit G, which is the default key to start round.B) WTB - Want to buyC) WTT - Want to tradeD) WTA - Want to auctionE) Token - An item used to store mana for future use. Most commonly a weapon made into the 200m or 400m version. Sometimes called mana tokens. F) Mana crystal - Alternate name for mana tokenG) Active character - A character that stays in the round when it starts.H) Inactive character - A tower based character that never stays when the round starts.I) DPS - Damage per second. Good stats for dps but bad for other.J) Tower - Good stats for tower but bad for other. K) Hybrid - Good stats for tower and dps with no pertinent penalties. All around good. Give to your best active character. The most powerful but hardest to equip characters in the game are hybrids.L) Crystal/Core - What you are defending in alot of maps.M) Mana - Lifeblood of game in terms of spending to upgrade items after map ends and making and upgrading defenses in a map.N) Ninja - Another name for the Dark Elf Warrior or DEW or to pop in a map and steal itemsO) AOE - Area of effectP) XP - Another name for experience points. The points to level you character.Q) Grind - mind numbing slog through maps (often glitterhelm) to either level your character or find loot.R) Affinity - The bonus dmg and immunity a creature has. A fire spider has a fire affinity. Remove it to make the spider weaker and vulnerable to fire.S) Support - A character or item that is neither dps or tower based and if a character is most likely active. An example of this could be a health/repair barbarian to just loot like mad and repair on uberfests without any fear of dying once your towers are all made or a monk with high health and defense boost to boost towers and not die. These are rare builds and they will not always upgrade weapon or pet dps. Example: I have a monk with high tower defense boots and health and some dps. He has a ranged nosferatu and a genie. I use him in Halloween spook to buff tons of lightning towers buffed with buff beam to kill the 2k mobs very fast. T) Ragequit - To quit a game without any explanation. Done after something depressing has happened. For example, someone that has left tavern unlocked might ragequit when they come back and find all their items gone.U) WAP - This is an acronym for weapons, armor, pets mostly seen as names for ppl’s stores.V) OP – overpowered. Andy 0 Posted May 18, 2012 N) Does the item have a value of 1? Hacked items very often have a value of 1 mana even with tons of upgrades done. Items have been known in the past to get stuck on values but I have never seen one stuck on the number 1 since the roll over was fixed. A item with a value of 1 I would say is 100% hacked. Somebody prove me wrong here. Well recently, i had my seahorse pet re roll to 1 mana. I found it myself and it was pretty good and decided to level it. after around 275/304, it re rolled to 1 mana. It's not hacked :(
Orcacide 0 Posted May 18, 2012 I thought you were leaving. Just make huge posts complaining about a player made economy and blame hackers, say you're leaving and then come back a couple days later and make a huge guide to...the economy?
KamelJabber 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Orcacide, go away. Urza, great write up. I'm going to read it again :) I haven't played for 2/3 days either, can I still post?
Gilgehmesh 0 Posted May 18, 2012 This may seem strange but I don't rename my max level gear (especially armor) anymore. If I ever have to sell it, it make it easier for buyers to see what "quality" the armor is (i.e. mystical, transcendent, etc.) However, I rarely max upgrade my gear. Urza 0 Posted May 18, 2012 I thought you were leaving. Just make huge posts complaining about a player made economy and blame hackers, say you're leaving and then come back a couple days later and make a huge guide to...the economy? I had this guide in the works for a long time and finished at work to get it out there. I have lots of time to burn at work and cant play D3 at work. I am on vacation from playing DD and not from trying to help players new to the game on the forums. This is pretty much it though. I wont have anymore started threads for some time and I feel I do have to respond on these threads for questions and whatnots. Once these threads die out then I will fade away.N) Does the item have a value of 1? Hacked items very often have a value of 1 mana even with tons of upgrades done. I dont see why u cant post. Thx for compliment. I hope it helps lots of peeps. That is all I care about are the peeps in DD.This may seem strange but I don't rename my max level gear (especially armor) anymore. Gear that is maxed but not renamed is not a definitive indication an item is hacked. It is just slightly suspicious is all.

Bipper 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Nice guide - lots of good info. Just one point I'd like to see either the Trendy official confirmation for, or it be changed to the more accurate description. Beta Testing. I've seen nothing *anywhere* officially from Trendy that Nightmare is in beta. Nightmare mode is described as 'Early Access' on the Steam page - beta isn't mentioned and they are two very different things. Early Access, is simply as it says...early access to whatever content Trendy decides to make available. There are no agreements or systems in place between Trendy and those with Early Access to feedback, report bugs, etc, etc except in the informal setting of the forums. Beta Testing, is a formal software development process where timelines are key to the final release of the product. Beta Testing normally involves a closed set of testers with various mechanisms for them to report back and interact with the software developers. Thuis urban myth of 'Nightmare being in beta' is utter nonsense - unless, of course, you can point me to the official statement from Trendy, and if so they're rewriting the industry recognised standard for Beta Testing... Incidently, the new mobs released - Djinn, Sharken, etc, *also* appear in Insane maps which are not thought of as being in beta and so the modes thought of as being 'final' are also subject to being screwed up when these mobs are first released and before they're nerfed. Regardless, please don't propogate the urban myth of Nightmare being in beta - it isn't.
betaworx 0 Posted May 18, 2012 3) Resists in nightmare are cut in half so you will need 180% in each for max resists. The best way to upgrade your stuff for use on nightmare is to start a nightmare survival map and do it within the map. This is so you dont waste points upgrading past a limit. I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. AFAIK, the scaling is 0.55 resulting in 163.9, rounded 164% needed (or 41% per armor item). See here as well: http://dungeondefenders.wikia.com/wiki/Armor_Resistance_Guide

I search but could not find it, but I am almost sure it was said in a forum post. relating to "new" mobs appearing on insane and such, it is on specific challenge maps OR in the official campaign map. merryjester 0 Posted May 18, 2012 With all due respect: B) Does the item let a lower character equip it? for example, a transcendent item can only be equipped to a level 78 character. - Some rewards could be equipped by lower-level chars, like a Myth Sicarius, could have been equipped by a non-74 level char. D) Does the item allow you to upgrade it past its limits? For example, you can only upgrade a mythical to a max of 360 and a transcendent to a max of 420. If you have a mythical and it lets you ups it past 360 it is hacked. - What about items that drop overcapped on some stats? I received some giraffes that dropped with 400 on several stats. Same with weaps. E) Is the item renamed? Items with many upgrades that are maxed but have no rename are slightly suspicious as most ppl will want to rename the gear they worked hard to upgrade to max. If on rename you just hit accept, then the item name becomes the identifier and this is how it happens . - What if u mess up and just apply the 'standard' name by accident, or u cant be arsed about naming it? H) Are the item stats out of order? For example, on the middle row on armor, the armor will always go from left to right = hero health -> hero speed -> hero dps -> cast rate, ect. If you have an item that shows cast rate -> hero dps -> speed then its hacked. - Please, add a mention that some items might just be missing some stats. L) An armor with unlucky prefix but all positive resists at level 1 upgrade. - Is this 100% correct? N) Does the item have a value of 1? Hacked items very often have a value of 1 mana even with tons of upgrades done. Items have been known in the past to get stuck on values but I have never seen one stuck on the number 1 since the roll over was fixed. A item with a value of 1 I would say is 100% hacked. Somebody prove me wrong here. Andy has said he had a high level pet roll over to 1 mana so a value of 1 at least for upgraded pets does not mean it is hacked. But if it is not upgraded then definitely hacked. Basically be very wary of items at 1 mana. - Rollover strikes again and again, every other update. Do not get me wrong, I appreciate all your hard work, but the section about hacking must be 100% spot on, and mention all the little things, otherwise u will end up with 50% of players getting reported or selling their legit items. Urza 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Thx for post merryjester. I will separate the hacking section into 2 areas. 1 that definitely states an item is hacked if it occurs and 1 that be weary if this occurs. B) I am human and so I can leave stuff out and make mistakes so will update this one with weapon rewards. Are there any pets or armors that fit this criteria or is it just a handful of weapons? D) Note here I said upgrade so overcap doesnt matter. IF the game allows you to upgrade past the limits of the item then it is hacked. E) I never said this means it is hacked. IT just makes it slightly more suspicous. H) It doesnt matter if the item is missing some stats. The remaining stats will always be in the same predictable order no matter what. L) As far as I know yes. But only works for lv 1 items because the negatives can be removed with upgrades. Will put in suspicion area of hacking. N) This was already mentioned by Andy. I had never upgraded a pet to that high yet that it rolled over to 1. This will be moved to the suspicion section of hacking. Still if you have an item without upgrades at 1 mana then its still definitely hacked and I would be very wary of any item at 1 mana. There is no way I can guarantee 100% spot on information. I did not program the game or disect the game code. I can only post based on game experience, forum information, and whatnots and so some errors will exist but if good ppl like you help out then I can clean it up further. Someday maybe we will even get a TE programmer to help us out as well on knowing the 100% guaranteed signs of hacking. Thx for your post.
Zamoody 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Nice guide I would say stickie worthy, loved the AFK shop guide will try out.
merryjester 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Thx Urza, im not complaining, just trying to help, as imo false reporting will only cause extra work for TE, taking their time from ssolving the real hacking issues for example, that one time some1 in a shop called me a hacker and said he will report me... i was wearing an amazing set of godly chain with 200+ ups and minus stats all over the place, just for lols as for items, just the other nite i had a ssupreme item drop with all stats at 298 or 198... cant recall right now. Nice work with the guide, its nice to see that some1 will actually spend a LOT of time writing this down.
