[Request] Kicking Issues, Status Filters....

Recommended Posts

As I have ranted about kicking issues in almost every other post, I thought I would be more direct about it here.

I have eight characters. Five tower builders and three DPS characters. Each one has their respective important stat(s) up to an appropriate 1700 - 2000, with their semi-less relevant stats not too far behind.

These numbers I believe are what makes and breaks someone's will to play this game, thus my reasoning;

1) I get kicked from just about every game I join, and almost 100% of all survival based ones, and I assume people with numbers similar to mine are having the same problem. One alternative is making a game and building yourself, letting people join or going solo. If you find a survival game where someone let's you in it's likely because their stats are low and you all collectively lose around wave 15 anyway.

2) Items that at least match what you (probably) currently have equipped start falling around wave 18 or 19. Something you might have seen a couple of times in earlier patches. However with stats similar to mine, it's near impossible to go 20+ without having characters whose stats are at least in the 2100+ range on all their builders. (I have tried many, many builds. Some of my own accord, others' builds like Kandar's as well from ddplanner.)

I know one thing players (and admittedly myself) could keep doing, and that is sticking it out and keep trying to find people who won't kick you, who are in turn strong enough to keep you going through some tougher waves. But don't be a 'ninja-looter'. Help out during the wave. I strongly encourage helping keep up with repairs and upgrades. I frown upon expecting to be able to afk, which I am asked constantly when I am hosting.

The mind set and meta game is complete crap right now but that's another thread.

People should learn how to use that Hide Match option available upon creating a room, and definitely adjust their level filter to 74. (Hoping we are all assuming I am talking about Nightmare games, by the way.) I also dislike the auto filter personally. I often forget to change it back down and it's always at 78.

And finally my actual proposal; Add more to the character filtering options. Make a spot for each stat for hosts to adjust if they are really that adamant on certain people joining, that way (I think) games won't even show up for players to just get kicked out of.

Make a kick voting system. Give a list of reasons why someone should be flushed out and make at least one option required to be marked in order for a vote to commence.

Oh good, another "I get kicked" thread. To preface my response, I also get kicked form 75-95% of the games I join. Especially high level. People are looking for specific things and have reasons to kick people. Get used to it

Oh so let me get this straight, it sucks when you join a lower players game and lose on 15, but you want higher players to let you join so THEY can lose on 24? Ill let you in on a little secret, they don't want to lose before they reach the point where they are accomplishing something (loot, pet, etc) any more than you do. That's prob why you were kicked.

I actually agree with this. Mine are around yours and I only make it to low 20's on the "good" maps. This doesn't make progression broken. Keep on trying. I find upgrades, so can you.

The solution is not to add more to the filter. Although I do agree this would be a good feature, it is certainly not necessary to help people not get kicked. Know what you can join! My general rule is, if you can't solo it, don't join it. Most games will list what they are looking for in the title. If anything, expand title text.

i have this issue at times and i think its more to do with mob counts than stats i can take 4 people all the way to 25 on magnus and a few other maps without even having my builder active i really dont see the issue with letting noobier players join they lern a set up from this they also lern what sort of stats they need if people constantly kick noobs they wont lern :)

Magus /= Misty/Moraggo/Aquanos. I'm also with you on this, but lets be honest. Magus almost never drops Tran, ends on 25, and is a cake walk compared to the other three. I highly doubt OP is talking about being kicked on Magus

I do agree with you though, I think either the mob count and or difficulty ramp needs to be downgraded. Want to reduce kicks Trendy? Reduce the added mobs. If it was more like .5 per player than 1.0 per player and the Ogres didn't ramp up, everyone would want to add players. The way it is.... I play solo 99% of the time. It's just easier than trying to find played who can account for the huge ramps in enemies.

done a test a min ago on aquanos to test my theory on mob count me a friend and a controler round 19 with all 3 of us 3.3k mobs take away my controler down to 1.5k mobs take away my friend and down to around 1k mobs seams the ramp is very steap in places not that it realy effects that map to much my builds afkable till round 28 ish apart from repairs between waves

On "peak" mob count (Aquanos wave 20+) my experience is this: with one it only gets as high as 1000-1200. I did 19 Solo at, I think 1024 or so, grabbed the pets and did 20 Quad and it was over 4,000. I am not trying to highjack the OPs thread, and do not think this is a big problem in the game, but 1x mob count per player is too high IMO.

EDIT: Especially when Ogres in the same area jump from 25mil to 33mil. Can only assume the other mobs get an HP boost as well. Either boost mob count or HP. Both will encourage solo considering you get no additional DU per player

There are lots of reasons you might be kicked, it might not just be because of your stats or because "they're mean". They might require something specific or opened to only let in 1 or 2 people etc. There are many people that have bought/traded for very high gear but make it evident they have no knowledge of the workings of the game very quickly (another reason why stats aren't everything).

Low players and high players alike will just filter it to have high stats and not stats that are able to get it done with a decent player, in short i think adding it to the filter isn't going to solve what you think is a problem but cut out more people from public games as they will only want over statted people. If you don't get an immediate split second ban, meaning probably no matter your class/level/stats you would have got kicked anyway cos you weren't meant for their game. Your first actions or words might define if they think you are worthy to stay after that.

I totally agree people need to use the hide game and private game functions but short of plastering it all over the place in huge font i'm not sure how much that will change.

Totally disagree with any voting system. If a host that knows what he is doing loses control to a bunch of clueless players that band together you wont have a good scenario. Their reason for kicking is whatever they chose, accept it and move on even if it a ridiculous reason.

On a side note im currently using a Dps monk with close to 1500-1400. I can complete aqanos with builder stats around or not much higher than what you have stated. I only join game public games every now and then but i find the very few times i get kicked are instantly and nothing would have mattered to change that. The majority i don't get kicked but when i do i accept it and don't require a reason, just move on.

Sorry, but this made me laugh. You and I are having constructive conversations in another thread. I appreciate your opinion.

Honestly, I am not trying to be rude, not trying to be mean or vindictive. If you think this I have failed. I try to be (relatively) fair and balanced. I am NOT an elite player, I run lower players often, I try to be helpful. I also get kicked a lot.

That all being said.... I also understand elite players desire to play with elite players. They have a right to enjoy the game the same as the rest of us. If Hosts want to kick, that is their right. Doesn't mean the game is broken

I could not agree more!
Certain things are needed to make a build, or team function correctly!
For example: I build SMF over and over on NMHC, but it honestly requires a few strong dps on the first wave.
There are criteria that need be met, you will get no argument from me there.
However, there really is no structure for inadequate players at present, save the autoboot function.
I share the OP's distress on this subject, players making games just to "troll" or kick people is rather aggravating.

You can easily ignore those kinds of games, people who host them are either ignorant, uninformed or outright mad about the quick-match system.

Agree with Chris (the ranger). While "join=kick" games suck, what do you expect? At least host is honest.\

Personally, I am more bothered when I try to join "'s Game" on wave 13-14 and get kicked. At least this guy said what he wanted.

I cannot help but laugh maniacally about what is being said here.
That does not take away from the truth of it though.
Good times!

I find it funny when ppl have such high expectations on stats for others to join, especially when you see they only have ~1k stats themselves.

Also kinda annoying that alot of ppl dont understand how other classes work, ill try joining on my DPS Monk (12mil DPS boosted on tavern Dummy) yet ill get kicked from Misty Campaign runs for not high enough stats lol! I only really join Boss type lvl maps to actually help some ppl complete it, but whatever, ppl are mostly ignorant. Bet if I joined on my 3k Builder id get harrased to build.

Join = Kick is probably their attempt at preventing everyone and their m-o-t-h-e-r

(really the word m-o-t-h-e-r- is not allowed on the msg boards? haha my god, guess they are worried about your mama is so ugly jokes? )

from joining a game they want friends to join. They are not purposely making the game just to get a thrill out of kicking.. yes they should make it private.

The kick system is fine as is.. voting will make most players go private or quit the game and their wont be any public games anymore.

You got kicked.. get over it.. Move on.. host your own game...

Perhaps they had a player already that lost connection and they are freeing the spot up for him to re-join?

This x10. I feel that unless you make specific in the title what you're looking for, you're leaving out an open invitation for anyone to join your game and are just wasting their time when you kick them.

I think you're missing the issue here. I'd wager that the problem you're experiencing is the "I can't invite friends to a hidden game" problem, where you have to show the game in order for an invited friend to join.

There are two major things that I feel would significantly reduce these issues:

1) Make invitations override hidden status, i.e if I invite someone through steam they should not get a banned message when they accept the invite.

2) Make it possible to turn the game private from within the game (and make the title able to be changed from anywhere, or at least the tavern, as well). That way I don't have to leave and re-host a match to change the title and/or switch from custom/public to private. I'm lazy and I'm simply not going to do that. I also don't want to force the one guy that's sticking around to have to leave and rejoin after each run.
