What do you think is my best option for gear progression? (stats inside)

Recommended Posts

After actually finding a good player shop today, I was able to up my stats for my squire builder.

He has 1080/1780/1200/1680

I also have an aura monk with 730/1130/1000/830

and a trapper with 840/1260/860/810

an ev builder with 1250/1090/340/715

I also have 2 dps characters but I'm assuming I'll leave my builder out for the extra damage so they're not worth mentioning.

What do you think would be the best map for giving drops that could push my gear up?

Basically this is one of the great choking points as far as I'm concerned. I have very similar stats to your main builder, but higher stats on my Aura, Trap, EV and Apprentice characters.

Survival NMHC Aquanos seems to be a really bad joke for me. I've tried many-a-builds (my own and popular ones) and cannot seem to get past wave 13 or 14. I'm lucky to find one semi-ok upgrade every couple of runs.

It seems my best bet was to run Kandar's popular Mistymire NMHC Survival layout. At wave 20, I was completely obliterated, however during waves 17-19 I managed to grab some decent things which I have yet to check out.

And something that should be noted; I've tried Aquanos solo and with four people and the results are always the same. I have only run Mistymire solo and don't expect to get too much farther with more players if I am the builder.

If I see a survival game someone else is hosting, I attempt to join it. To this day, even with very fair stats I get kicked before I have a chance to greet the host. My best DPS character with high resistance, health, level 83 and about three million DPS from regular attacking is sometimes interpreted as an insult to some players and I am promptly booted. I have very nice guardians as well, and offer to bring those out. It doesn't help.

I have maybe a 25% chance of joining another's survival game, and they often don't make it past wave 15 on Aquanos, in which at least wave 20 is needed to start finding some decent drops.

tl;dr ------ In my opinion Kandar's Mistymire NMHC Survival build, probably solo. Google it, or find it on ddplanner.

I just started farming moraggo and if you can find the right people to play with, you can make it far enough to farm good upgrades waves 18-21. Obviously misty is a good choice for most people, but if you really aren't getting any upgrades from misty, do moraggo. Still, if you haven't done much farming on misty or past wave 20, keep working on it as those stats will get you further (maybe need better EV walls?)

I actually have barely played mist at all so far. I did the campaign with a group when it first came out and then I tried survival once with a sort of improv build that only lasted a few waves.

Aquanos Surv. You are only a little below my stats. You should be able to handle new things and progress. The problem area for progression is 800-1k.

Your only real option, aside from acquiring hacked items or USD shops, is to make friends with an elite player.
Trying to progress through the system as is, is subjected to seniority and market fluctuations.
My advice to you: start collecting vast amounts of mana tokens.
After each major patch, the elite players need to upgrade the new items they get.
Save up all the mana tokens you can, then buy up the previous max tier in player shops as is available.
Aside from that, you really have no options! ^.^

Not true. Just completely not true.

Things you can do:
-Finish misty on NM HC. Shouldn't be to difficult with that squire (although I'd suggest making the EV's TH stat a lot higher for walls). Upgrade your monk/trapper gear with drops from doing this. You should also be able to attain better gear for your squire 20+.
-Work on Aquanos survival. Once you can comfortably get to W20, farm seahorses. If your stars align, you could get one with all 4 tower stats maxable (420+) and it will dish out very decent damage (+you get nice DPS pets as well). About W15 onwards drops some very nice trans, and I've got supreme from 18 or 19. Getting a good stat stick really helps and will typically be one of the shards map unique models.
-Make lots of offerings to RNG gods :D

Yeah, Come on man. As someone who has solo'd all the way through and pretty much never bought significantly better gear, it is possible to progress normally. I will say, Ive never been higher than 2600 in any stat.

Do aquanos or aguanos MM using Kandars build. If you don't like that do OMF of SRMF. If you want Ill link builds for both.

EDIT; Also CiC is good. I can give you a build on this (pre 15 DU jump, I guess that useless now)

Links would be most appreciated! ^.^
Along with some advice for players with around 1.5-2k stats.
Cheers mate!

There is my OMF build. My notes say 800-1200-800-1000 but I know it can be done lower. First wave build is not easy, takes some getting used to but obviously doable and repeatable.

http://ddplanner.com/?l=3908,zaps-lightning-harpoon-shipwreck-monster-fest-solo-duo-

I have been using this since he first made it (before 2 min add). Lightning is smart here. My App is not as good as my squire, but this build works. Only issue is lightning proof fish from the north

Edit: Both build require a DECENT EV. Ev's do not scale well, so 600-800+ should work (not tested). I have a wall ev and beam ev and the beam ev is barely better in the end.

A beam and a wall EV, I had not even considered that.
Thank you for the inspiration!

Like I said, semi worth less. Wall Ev is prob worth it, but a seperate beam is not. Stats below.

Wall Ev: 3041-288-930-1039
Beam EV: 452-1836-1505-1513

Beam Stats (3star)
Wall EV: 2.03-2.04-1.59-1.72
Beam EV:2.22-1.91-1.60-1.73

If anything, the enhanced resist stats of the Wall ev are almost worth it. Yes, beam has higher attack boost, but all things considered I question whether it is worth it. And the other two stats are 500 better with a .01 boost.

from a complete newbie sided view. i don't find it hard finding new/better gear, i am more annoyed at the random number generation, it can make a piece of myth gear worse than the crappiest of "cursed unlucky" gear.

(the "better loot" indicator doesn't help much either, it keeps guiding me to all negative resist godly gear and such)

Agree, "better loot" has always been broken. Don't discount "cursed" or "unlucky". They can be good. A lot of my trans are "unlucky" but that just means poor resists. With 190-240^'s, that doesn't matter.

Honestly at the point you are, the easiest way to progress is to run something like omf with 2 chars, and rake in the rewards +300m mana every 30mins. The next step is every time u hit 600m mana, check afk shops. You basically want to check anything that is like wave 30 of map xxx, or whatever. Basically just do that, you won't get any useable weapons or armor as rewards from omf, but what you can get are good pets. The good pets should fill in some tower stats for your various builders.

If you have luck at finding afk shops of people who actual do what the name implies like wave 30 aquanos, you should be able to improve your lower builders quite quickly. You will get to the point after loading into a shop, within 15 seconds you can identify if they actually are selling decent stuff like +200-300 tower stat range, or just selling a few crappy items.

Once you have improved your weakest characters with random survival loot you bought, you should be geared well enough to begin to run misty/aquanos survival on your own. You may want to start with aquanos pet runs to further improve your builders.

Improving your aura monk and trapper stats will be the biggest help in succeeding on the survival maps. It is easier to find upgrades for non active characters.

I would suggest creating a tower app to compliment your current characters. Fireball towers are great in many builds to help clear clogs and keep ogres attention.

Playing on a dps monk with a reasonable dps pet is also helpful. You can boost your buff beamed tower damage further + it repairs auras. The pet will help dps down problematic clogs, djinn, and ogres to allow your towers to mow down other mobs.
