How to report Hacking/USD Shops

I have seen players asking about hacking so your concerns will be addressed below.

VAC has recently been updated and is catching a lot of programs but isn't perfect. You, the players, can help by reporting any hacking/usd shops you see to remove them faster!

Q: How do I tell if an item I have is hacked?

A: It will have one or more of these attributes:

-Unique name but not max leveled
-Item has very high stats in all areas and no negatives
-All stats are the same (some items.can spawn like this but its very rare and usually the stats are lower)
-Impossibly high damage, high damage on low level item
-Unusually large
-Player is selling for USD or Paypal
-Random player joins your tavern and drops you free items
-Being able to use an item out of level (using a mystical below level 74)

Q: What do I do with an item I know/suspect is hacked?

A: The most simple answer is to vendor or sell any item you think maybe hacked.

Q: Someone claimed to work for TE, how do I know if it is true?

A: TE does not enter games and give away free items. Any interaction from an employee will come from a known account. Anyone saying they work for TE while playing or say that a GM/TE/employee gave them an item is completely false. All item restores will happen not from item drops but put directly in your forge.


Q: How do I get banned? Will I get VAC banned for having a hacked item on ranked?

A: Banning is a multistep process. VAC will not ban you for having a hacked item but TE actively bans users daily. All player reports get looked into by a TE member. VAC bans the programs used to hack and TE has no access to this system.

A few notes on excuses. If you are caught using a hacked item and get banned, your friend gave you the item is not an excuse. Being ignorant that a 100k item for a lvl1 isn't a legit excuse. Using hacked items will get you banned so its best to do like the above and remove the offending iten by selling it. VAC bans can not be undone. TE has no say in VAC bans.

TE does read your suggestions and they are actively looking at new ways to prevent and stop hacking.

Q: How do I report a hacker?

The MOST important then when reporting a hacker is their steam profile link. Users can change their steam names so a link to their profile is the fastest, most effective way to remove then from TNet. If you attach a screenshot the process goes faster.

Banned in Open

Can you get banned from Steam or have a report filed against you for hacking in Open mode?

I thought I read the Mods say that open = Anything goes, but having said which, VAC is active on open mode, so if VAC wants to ban you, then VAC WILL ban you. Trendy do not control OPEN mode, Trendy only control TRENDY servers, so if VAC bans you, dont cry for Trendy to help you.

Can you get banned from Steam or have a report filed against you for hacking in Open mode?

Yes.

You can not use cheat programs on Steam, period.

Use the DDDK if you want to "create" things.

I really don't understand this... So you're telling me (according to Finally's thread) I can be permanently banned for buying a hacked item? even though I had no idea the item was hacked? that's not very fair to the honest player now is it?

One could use these "guidelines" but what about those that never visit the forums? surely TE aren't banning innocent players randomly for buying some items they thought were perfectly legit.. being on "ranked" one would assume everything is 100% real, people wouldn't think "hey this might be hacked" unless they were on "open" or it was something stupid like a Level 1 Sword with 99999 stats.

The guidelines are very vague too :\ so you're telling me if an item has no negatives and some guy is selling for cheap because he simply feels like it or can't seem to sell it for normal prices, then I should either avoid or vendor if I've already purchased? are you kidding me... also, ridiculously large weapons sometimes drop from chests and mobs, so I can't really use that information to track down hacked items now can i?

Don't punish honest players... there are threads on this board that have something ridiculous like "You should have read the rules on the forums" yet majority of gamers don't even bother with forums :\

Here's a better and more reliable solution, a suggestion if you will...

If someone has purchased a hacked item without knowing, you should automatically delete it from their account once you review their account, and refund the mana. The next time they log-on there should be a message, something like "Sorry, unfortunately you were scammed and purchased a glitched item. We have removed the item and refunded the mana"

It's not fair that people who purchased the game and play it legitimately are banned and have to go through this whole unbanning process which could take days, possibly weeks.

I don't mean to sound harsh, that's not my intention lol.. just seems a little unfair at how these are processed?

If you did a little research you would see that Trendy has stated on more then one occasion they only perma ban players with blatantly hacked gear. Players who feel they have been wrongly banned can contact Trendy (as long as its not a VAC ban for using the modding programs them selves) and have their case reviewed, Trendy does reverse bans with other consequences (wiped accounts, things of that nature)

Really as long as you use common sense you wont have a problem.

I understand if someone with a level 1 item and 99999 stats deserves a ban, no complaints there... but if I purchased a level 74 weapon with some really good stats, I shouldn't feel paranoid when I'm using it, especially if the stats seem legit but the weapon could be 50/50 hacked.

They should ban USD sellers, ban the obvious 9999 stat pricks... don't ban those that probably had no idea they purchased a hacked weapon :\ just remove it from their item box and refund the mana, give them a message saying it was hacked/refunded and you will have no long unbanning process for the innocent.

That's all I'm saying... I'll leave it at that, I have faith in Trendy anyway.. great company and I respect what they have done with this game so far. DD is probably the only game I have recommended to soo many people.

What do you do about a certain person who constantly make new accounts and just keeps running paypalshops?

I reported the person few days ago and he is somehow still running paypal shops selling hack items in game..

i was banned now and i dont know why -.- all buying dlcs **** :(

Don't items obtained from challenges have unique names even at non-max levels? Me and my brother both have very high-powered level rewards- mine obtained by myself but his a gift from a random. Not sure if it's hacked or not...

Only a lot nobody say to me that my seahorse is to hacke I would like having the confirmation of a MJ to be sure). I does not want that we banish me of games while I made nothing. And I would like if ever my seahorse is to hacker that we pay off to me my cubes. Thank you .

I thus sold my item to the seller by fear of making me banish of games(sets). I thus lost a cube...

I was report 2 cheaters last days.. But we never know it they get BAN or not. It is sad to play game and we must afraid about buying item from someone. And the same cheater is playing ranked game every day. And what is worst, another players are in his game and say to me.. "we want reward, so shut up" . Pathetic poor noobs

The only problem I have with this whole idea is people getting banned for buying a gear that's obvious to higher end players but not to low end players. For example, a piece of Ult gear could have perfectly possible stats but the mana value's far too low. So long as that's not a problem, I'm all good.

Yes. There are legitimate tools for changing things in open mode. One of the information threads that trendy has provided will give you all the info you need. There are certain types of programs that are never legal not even in open mode. VAC will ban you for those aforementioned programs
