Friedrich Psitalon 0 Posted March 10, 2012 So I got a nifty genie from my store, fine. It starts with a bit over 1000 "attack" - which is, of course, the mana gain. Obviously he doesn't give me 1000 per attack of my weapon. Is there a capped value that this genie is already well beyond? Is it some kind of percentage thing and I should keep increasing his attack value? Or should I sink the points into something more practical like hero health or summat? Thanks in advance. excaluber 0 Posted March 10, 2012 I recently was reading a thread I found via google search on genies which they claimed to have found a formula for how genies collect mana. And its a % of the genie's attack, multiplied by the damage you do. It seemed to indicate that 2300 attack damage on the genie was the sweet spot based on a player doing 10k damage per hit. It said you'd get 1,500 mana in 5 attacks i think (it might have been 6). But to get it down to 4 attacks (or 5 if its 6) you had to jump up to something like 6400 attack on the genie. If you do a google search for 'best genie stats' or something like that the thread should come up. That or try the forum search too. It laid the whole formula out for you. Urza 0 Posted March 10, 2012 I get mine to give 300 mana per attack. This gives crazy mana fountain amounts of mana with a retribution on a huntress or ranger. Just equip and start deep well on easy and test and ups as needed to get 300 mana per attack. The diminishing returns after 300 is redonkadonkalous. Just go for a stat after that. The amount of mana given is based on the 'attack' of genie AND your character's dps. If you put a 10000 'attack' genie on a character with total meh dps then you will get meh multiplied by 10000 which is still mostly meh. Hope this helps you out. SirSmash 0 Posted March 11, 2012 3-4k is as far as you'll want to go. I got a sweet genie who started with almost 3k and at that point he was giving me almost 300 mana per flip. I wanted to test if he'd give boatloads more mana so I upped him to 10k damage, and he only gives like 400 mana per shot now. Total waste of probably 80-90 ups on my part =(
Taffer 0 Posted March 11, 2012 http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?32590-Some-Math-on-Genies Think this may be what excaluber was referring to.
Alhanalem 62 Posted March 11, 2012 it depends on your damage how much genie attack you'll need. The lower your damage, the higher the genie attack will need to be. If you're strong enough you probably wont need more than 2000.
Mendayen 0 Posted March 11, 2012 Here's a table I made awhile back for Genie mana gains: The formula for Genie mana gains is: As you can see, the mana that your Genie attempts to give you with respect to its Base Damage will never cap. I upgraded my Genie to ~6800 Base Damage. This gives me 300 mana per proc and allowing me to max out within 5 swings instead of 6 (@ 250 mana per proc). Of course, in practical applications, you'll need to account for mana gained from enemies dying. It takes 12 - 13 upgrades to increase your Genie's Base Damage by 1000. You can compare whether the mana you gain per proc for that range of Base Damage increase is worth it versus whatever 12 - 13 stat points you would've otherwise invested in. zingfharn 0 Posted March 12, 2012 So it has nothing at all to do with the actual damage you do?
Taffer 0 Posted March 12, 2012 Its return is based on the damage you do, stronger hits will give more mana from the same genie. Charged shots or end-of-combo swings pay more than normal attacks do.
michaeljermyn 0 Posted March 12, 2012 So I was always under the impression that somewhere between 1500-2500 was the point at which more would not really benefit you at all. But the chart Mendayen posted suggests you could go as high as 6000-7000 and still see some benefit right? (let's assume that we have a very good weapon for this purpose, say 200 or more upgrades)
Brok 0 Posted March 12, 2012 stronger hits will give more mana from the same genie. only till cap, and cap is genie-dmg based. Everything is in link in post #
FruitLord 0 Posted March 12, 2012 I would say 2k for dps characters and 3k for builders. Unless you are the type that believes weapons should always be damage boosted, in which case your builder probably doesn't need a 3k genie as he whacks things for 25k damage.
