I agree wholeheartedly. I used [redacted] and got caught. I was foolsih and deserve what I got. Going clean from now on. Gonna eventually buy the content again. Pull some extra shifts and wait for a sale most likely. I got into this game because of the holiday sale. Sorry for my evil ways. Really I have learned my lesson.

Okay maybe it's been awhile since I purchased that game and the shards pack but... wasn't it $15 for the core game and like another $15 for the whole DLC? Go mow two lawns, problem solved... Or shovel some snow depending on where you are at.

My favorite example in this thread is how Zenxacred compares customers to the hillbillies who get caught causing trouble in stores. Know why those people are on that stupid little website? Because they got caught being the one flaw in the customer is always right issue. The amount of entries on that website simply gives the illusion that everyone does that.

Morality? The heck dude, we're talking about a video game, what's wrong with you? It's not even a PVP game. You think everyone who used the all weapons cheat in GTA deserves to be banned from all games ever?

Oh and yeah, I know there's PVP in this game but that doesn't mean it's a PVP game.

You wanna know how I got banned? I transferred my heroes to Open and hacked a pet with 1mil stats so I could derp my way through misty because I wanted to see the wave 30 HCMM loot. Then I got tempted and hacked ONE hero from level 72 to 74 on Ranked because I was sick of farming glitter, that was my 8th level 74.

And no, I'm not trying to say I didn't deserve to get banned, I haven't even complained about that. I haven't even asked to be unbanned, I bought a new account and started over. I'm simply saying that having a program on your computer and using it for hacking in DD are two very different things and if you dnon't understand that then I have no further interest in discussing with you.

When you buy a game you agree to an EULA or whatever that says you're not allowed to cheat in that specific game (as far as I know, I never actually read any of them). If you cheat in a non-steam game that doesn't have any EULA then that isn't any of Valve's business.

Edit: And for the record: I literally never, ever used cheats in any facebook games or similar. It's merely an example. I downloaded cheat engine for the sole purpose of hacking in open because I thought that was allowed, now I find out that even if I'd stuck with only hacking in open I'd still have gotten banned - Despite the fact that Jeremy Stieglitz or some Trendy employee literally said "Anything goes in open" in some other thread I read.

I even run the risk of having my second account banned as well because I didn't know I had to completely uninstall the program from my computer. I wasn't told about that part until I sent a ticket to Steam asking if they could remove the ban and the game from my account so I could buy it again on my main account. They took so long to reply that I'd already bought the game on another account when I got it.

it's a video game, yes. but cheating is definitely cheating. cheating in this game is not like cheating in a single player game. you have the capability to affect others' gameplay through online means. this isn't the gameshark in the 90s where you can cheat all you like but it didn't matter since all you really did was cheat yourself out of gameplay.

This is an online game. Where you can play with other people! TE doesn't know that you don't want to or even if you do at all. They don't care. They believe that if people are able to cheat, they will do so and possibly affect the other players who don't. I'm not saying that you would have or did, but the possibility is there given you have the tools do it. They are merely preventing you from doing so. it's in their best interest as well as the other players', don't you think?

I'll give you that they aren't doing a great job of it and only recently have been cracking down on them, but at least it's something for now. It doesn't change the fact that you and many others who were banned were doing something wrong.

EULA or not, hacking/cheating in anything, even such a paltry thing as a video game is simply not right. You know it and I know it. Unless of course, that's the main objective of the activity, to hack. :P

One should act in a way that if everyone acted that way, it would work out. Because otherwise, it would just be mayhem.

Hang it all. I know its cheap, I was being sarcastic. Guys remember, this is the internet. A video game forum none the less. Don't get too worked up over what I say. I have been doing some thinking and have decided to just stop playing video games. The money on this game was not to much, but the time I invest was ridiculous. I need to put my time and money into things that have a physical product at the end. If I like video games maybe I should make one. I also have some story ideas I should type up. I could always use more practice on my guitar, banjo, ukulele, accordion and the myriad of other instruments that I own. I really need to work more on my mandarin lessons. So I am going to find some more useful uses of my time and bid you all farewell. Already uninstalled steam and cleaned off any other non steam content. Oh yeah I need to prep for my compTIA A+ Cert. coming up.

Yeah maybe its just time to play something else. I checked out the gamespy online play and it sucks. So long Dundef, you are a pretty cool game but alas I don't feel like buying something twice. I have learned my lesson and will not mod again, but its still a bit silly. I mean steam could have sent me a warning email first. I might just abandon steam altogether. I'm not throwing a fit, just pointing out that a hacker that is paying, is still a paying customer, and the customer is always right.
