We will continue to update this thread as information develops. Please try to use this Thread before creating new ones. Thanks guys!

Q: I'm having a game issue: crashing, something isn't working right, issues after patch.

A: Try verifying your cache as this usually resolves these issues:

1: Open your steam library
2: Right click Dungeon Defenders (http://i.imgur.com/UyPCa.jpg)
3: Click properties (http://i.imgur.com/JvLz2.jpg)
4: Click local files (http://i.imgur.com/TO5wC.png)
5: Click verify integrity of game cache (http://i.imgur.com/IZDGD.png)

Q: I can't join/host a game!
A: If you do NOT have hamachi installed, try the following:

1. Click "Property" from pop up menu for "Dungeon defenders"
2. In "General" tab, Click "Set Launch options"
3. Add "-tcp"

Hamachi Users: You can try uninstalling hamachi if you have that installed, or try out a fix from one of our dungeon lovers:

However, you don't actually need to completely uninstall Hamachi. All you need to do is change the Bind Order of your adapters so that your primary internet connection adapter (usually "Local Area Connection") is above the Hamachi adapter.

In Vista and Windows 7 you can do this as per the following:

1> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings
2> Press the Alt key, which will bring up the menu options
3> Advanced -> Advanced Settings
4> Use the icons to move the Hamachi adapter below your primary adapter (usually "Local Area Connection")
5> Click Ok

Note that you may need to re-change the Bind Order for some older games that you use on Hamachi which only bind to a single adapter. It will be obvious which ones because those will stop working for LAN play :) Still, this is better than uninstalling Hamachi completely.



Q: I'm getting random crashes during gameplay!
A: In the GFX/Sound Options of the Configure Menu, please select "Don't Use Multi-Threaded Renderer"


Q: I'm banned from the current session!
A: If you are experiencing issues joining a friends match or friend joining yours, toggle the Show/Hide Match button in the pause menu.


Q: My TrendyNet heroes are all gone!
A: Head to this thread immediately and do not log back into Ranked: http://forums.dungeondefenders2.com/showthread.php?41078-Lost-Characters-or-Items

ALSO:
Please check both Ranked and Open/Local Play. You might have created a character in Open/Local, and are trying to use them in Ranked so please be sure you aren't making this mistake.


Q: I can't save ANYTHING on Open/Local!
A: Your Save Data may be marked as 'Read Only'. Go into: Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApp > Common > Dungeon Defenders > Binaries > Win32 and have your files set to Open.

A: Try running Steam as an Administrator. Right Click Steam > Run as Administrator


Q: Dungeon Defenders keep crashing!
A: Crashes can be from many different problems. Check out this Thread for some solutions and ways to help us help you as fast as possible! Also try to verify your Steam cache as this can usually fix the issue.


Q:From the Dungeon Defenders Launcher I press play and the game crashes. Or game doesn't launch at all.
A:
Possible Fixes:

Please make sure your in-game resolution is the same as your desktop resolution.

If you have GamerOSD, please uninstall this and try launching.


File Re-Name:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dungeon defenders\Binaries\Win32

Rename DungeonDefenders.exe to DungeonDefenders.old

Then rename DunDefGame.exe to DungeonDefenders.exe

Region Setting:
If your PC is set to any Locale outside of English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian, try changing your Locale to one of these. You can follow these general steps to do this:
Control Panel > Region and Language > Administrative > Change System Locale

Anti-Virus Program:
If you are having issues launching, did you have an Anti-Virus program running at the time you downloaded the game? It could be blocking some files from being downloaded. Try disabling your Anti-Virus program and re-downloading everything and see if that works.

Verifying Cache:
1: Open your steam library
2: Right click Dungeon Defenders (http://i.imgur.com/UyPCa.jpg)
3: Click properties (http://i.imgur.com/JvLz2.jpg)
4: Click local files (http://i.imgur.com/TO5wC.png)
5: Click verify integrity of game cache (http://i.imgur.com/IZDGD.png)

Deleting Local Content:
Go into your Program Files and follow the path:
Steam > steamapps > Common > dungeon defenders > Engine
Delete the folder "Localization"
Perform a reinstall.

If you have AVG or Panda Cloud Anti-Virus:
Try uninstalling it and see what happens.

If you have NOD32 installed make sure it did not remove DunDefGame.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dungeon defenders\Binaries\Win32 . NOD32 should be okay with DD now since NOD32 fixed the false positive but if NOD32 is still flagging the program make sure your NOD32 definitions are up to date.

Q: The game is running very sluggish with a very low Frames per Second
A: From your Dungeon Defenders Launcher:
Select Configure > GFX/Sound > Graphics Quality
Set this to Low. This may help you with slow down.

Players have also found uninstalling Asus GSB and Gamer OSD has fixed the issue!


Q: Steam achievements are not working right!
A: Make sure you are playing in "Ranked" mode in order to get your Achievements! If this issue happens with DLC, you actually need to own the DLC in order to get the Steam achievements.


Q: I still having issues with the launcher, what can I do?
A: First off, download this file:

Then, extract that file. Figure out if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit OS, instructions in the ReadMe.txt. Find which registry file matches your OS, and you should be able to simply double click that registry file.

If simply double clicking does not work, try this:
Click on Start and then Run...
Type in regedit, and then press OK
In regedit, click on File, and then Import
Select the registry file that matches your OS and press OK
The contents of that ".reg" file will be entered into the registry.

After doing that, go ahead and install the other packages included in the zip. You can then try and launch Dungeon Defenders.


Q: Unsetup Error
A: Click the link below to download the registry keys. Extract. Run the registry key that matches your system type. Click "Yes" on the message that pops up.

Q: I try to join my friends using steam invites but i get a 'Fail to Join' message
A: If your friends are in Ranked mode playing via TrendyNet, you need to log into TrendyNet before you can join on them. Launch your game and select TrendyNet. Then Join them or Accept Invite.
If your friends are in Open mode you can join them from anywhere.


Q:I can not find my Steam Exclusive Items
A:Your items are sitting in your Tavern in two boxes near your forge. Just touch them and they will open.

If you don't see your Steam exclusives at all, send an e-mail to "lostheroes@trendyent.com" with "Steam Exclusives Lost" in the title. Be sure to tell us what you are missing and on which game mode you are missing it. (Ranked/Open), as well as your Steam ID and Nickname.


Q: Why can't I edit in more keybindings?
A: You are able to manually edit your INI file, which is named "UDKinput.ini" and can be found through the following file path within your Program Files.
Steam > steamapps > Common > dungeon defenders > UDK Game > Config


Q: How do I convert my iOS/Android save to PC??
A: Due to the massive changes to PC/Mac client the option to covert the save from mobile to PC no longer functions correctly.


Q: XAPOFX1_5.dll cannot be found.
A: Go to http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?xapofx1_5
Download XAPOFX1_5.dll
Put it into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dungeon defenders\Binaries\Win32


Q: I'm having a problem with the UI while playing split screen. | No stats appear on statistic pages.
A: The main cause of UI disappearing or problems with the UI during split screen specifically is when AA is manually set in the NVIDIA control panel.

Go into the NVIDIA control panel and change Antialiasing - Mode back to "Application-controlled".


Q: My keybindings are all screwed up. I am unable to drop mana or remote start.
A: You can fix this by either Verify your game cache integrity. This will completely reset your bindings to the standard defaults.


Q: Defense Is the Best Offense Achievement not being awarded.
A: Occasionally this achievement doesn't unlock right away. Keep playing DD if this happens and it should unlock itself randomly later. Also some people have found that you may have to have your crystal end on Wave 10.


Q: Game stuck downloading or says update paused.
A: This wonderful Steam issue can sometimes be fixed by changing your download region. You can change this by going into Steam -> Settings -> Downloads + Cloud -> Download Region and change this to something else near you. Try a few different places if it doesn't work right away and it should take off. Otherwise contact Steam support as your client is bugged out.


Q: Unable to move in-game/half my controls only work.
A: If you have Comodo installed make sure to check that you didn't accidentally block Dungeon Defenders when it prompted.


Q: Controller doesn't work at all.
A: If you have Comodo installed make sure it didn't put Dungeon Defenders into sandbox mode and stopped access to controllers.


Q: Unable to pickup item behind dummy.
A: You can use an xbox360 controller to pick this item up if this happens.


Q: Unable to gain mana at the end of a wave or by selling items to a vendor.
A: The current vendor mana cap is 600million as of v7.30 and the max mana cap is 2billion. After you pass this you must drop below 600million before you can get mana via these methods again. If you wish to get over 600million you will need to setup a player shop selling items or trade with someone.


Q: Low FPS during build phase.
A: Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date and if you have xfire running, try exiting that to see if it fixes your issue.


Q: Game is currently unavailable.
A: First close down Steam and then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps and delete sourceinit.gcf . Now try again.


Q: Game gets laggy/low FPS after several rounds.
A: If you have a controller connected some people have been able to clear up this up by unplugging their controller for a few seconds during build phases.


Q: Low FPS or random pauses.
A: Make sure your Windows installation is up to date. Also if you use x360ce to have the latest Direct X drivers and even try just playing the game without it to see how it works out.

Q: Can't play recently purchased DLC.
A: Restarting Steam or https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7241-EYON-2343 should resolve this issue.

Q: *How to change Mouse Sensitivity manually.
A: Find MouseSensitivity in UDKInput.ini and alter to change the sensitivity. Location of .ini: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dungeon Defenders\UDKGame\Config

Q: How do I make Dungeon Defenders 3D?
A:

Removed:
A DOF effect(ugly in 3D)

Issues Remaining:
Text/health bars are 2D
Minor ghosting effects(can't be fixed without causing issues)

Follow instructions listed on link above. This fix is only good for 3d vision users. It will not work with AMD/TRIDEF.

Ban Information

I've been banned!

So you've been hit by the ban hammer and maybe you do or don't know why. The first thing to check is are you VAC banned or banned in Trendy's system.

If your played online button is greyed out: Now Steam downtime can cause this button to go grey too so don't be alarm and think that you're banned immediately. Check if there is any downtime here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784745 . You can also check your VAC ban status on your account by going to Steam -> Settings and right there it'll inform you about if you have a ban or not. A VAC ban can come from using any 3rd party hacking/cheating/trainer program on both Ranked and Open. The only tools allowed to use to Mod the game on Open is the DDDK which is free to download DLC. VAC bans are not controlled by Trendy but by Valve/Steam. More information about VAC can be found here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7849-Radz-6869

You receive an ingame message that you've been banned: Like the ingame message says please send an email to [email]feedback@trendyent.com[/email] and include a link to your Steam profile or your Steam name. Please only send one email and include any information you believe may have caused your ban. Sending in multiple emails could delay your review and response. You'll receive at least a basic response usually within 3 business days. All cases are reviewed. If your ban does not get lifted you'll still be able to play on Open.

What can get me banned from Ranked?

  • Selling items, mana, power leveling services, or map runs for USD or any out of game items like actual Team Fortress 2 Game items(the TF2 pets/portal gun are okay).
  • Selling or using hacked items.
  • Using 3rd party programs to modify your account.


If you do receive a TrendyNet - Ranked ban and it doesn't get lifted you will still be able to play on Open.

Can't Connect to TrendyNet Instructions

So you can’t connect to TrendyNet? This could be one of many reasons. You can check for Steam downtime.

The second step to figuring out what your case may be is to create a Log File of an attempt to connect to TrendyNet. You can do this by visiting the post right below this one. -dowritelog

Remember, you are getting a Log File, not a Crash Dump File.

Once you have the Log File, open it up in Notepad.

Use “Ctrl+F” and type in “CFS: EVENT”

This will bring you to the error you are receiving and will look something like one of the following:

CFS: EVENT CFS_OnLoginError: ERROR 15 MESSAGE User authentication failed, user banned
or
CFS: EVENT CFS_OnLoginError: ERROR 116 MESSAGE HTTP Error 116 Status Text: 'Open URL Failed: Wininet Error Code: 2

Now that you know what the problem is, you can begin to resolve it.

If you received “ERROR 15 MESSAGE User authentication failed, user banned” then you have been banned from TrendyNet. If you do not know why you were banned, send an e-mail to [email]support@trendyent.com[/email] with a link to your Steam profile and ask them politely to look into your case.

If you received “ERROR 116 MESSAGE HTTP Error” then you have not been banned, but there is most likely an issue with your “Work Offline” mode, Anti-Virus, or Firewall. These errors will be accompanied with a Wininet error code.

The first step is to identify your code. The following is a link to a webpage with descriptions of Wininet error codes and what causes them:

Next, you should be able to determine a solution to your specific codes.

The most common that I have seen is Wininet error code 2, which can be solved through the following steps:

On the desktop,
• Click on the Start button
• Internet Explorer
• Tools
• Work offline, this is probably ticked, please untick this

Now again click on
• Tools
• Internet options
• Connections tab
• Select the box that says ‘Never dial a connection’

This should now allow you to connect to TrendyNet.

If you cannot find a solution online to your specific Wininet error, you should try adding Dungeon Defenders to your allowed programs in your Anti-Virus program and Firewall. If that doesn’t work, try disabling your Firewall and Anti-Virus program to see if that helps.

This can mean a DNS issue and may need to be set manually via your hosts file.

This means that TrendyNet's authentication has gone down and you will need to wait a bit before it comes back online. Usually no longer than an hour.

Send us your DxDiag. This allows us to see what hardware you're running and some additional details about your computer that may assist us.

Start -> Run -> type dxdiag and hit enter
or
Start -> type dxdiag and hit enter

Then click save all information and it'll put it into a DxDiag.txt file.

Permission to Post/Monetize Dungeon Defenders Youtube Videos

You have permission to post and monetize youtube videos of Dungeon Defenders, as long as:

1. The videos do not depict any way to illegally obtain Dungeon Defenders for free.
2. Do not instruct users on how to use non-approved programs (anything except the DDDK) to modify Dungeon Defenders in any way.
