DLC Confusion (Rant mostly, but also a bit of sadness)

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to share a bit of an annoyance.

This morning I logged into my system, waited for Steam to update the game, then logged in and went to "Download Content". New content was listed at the top "Quest for the Eternia Shards Pt 1." Thinking this was the new DLC in all it's glory, I quickly grabbed it and it unlocked the DLC. GREAT! :D

Not so fast. Turns out I grabbed the wrong DLC. I grabbed the base DLC, not the "Full Pre-pay DLC". Now I'm stuck with the one mission, no Nightmare mode, etc.

And in standard Steam fashion, once you have a DLC, even if there is another one that offers more, is a different package, etc. It's too late. I'm now stuck with this DLC pack until the rest are released whenever they are released. There is no way to buy the Full DLC for me now, and that's an annoyance.

/rant

Note: This isn't just a Dungeon Defenders rant. This has happened with things like Mass Effect, Borderlands, etc. Usually it's the GOTY edition vs. the base game + DLC's.

I guess my note to Trendy is: Try and work with Steam so that the first thing that shows up when you click "Download Content" is the Full DLC, not the mini-version.

*Edit: In fact, the "Full" version doesn't even show up in the list! :demon:

I did the same thing. It'd be nice if it listed the full pack as an option, but you actually have to click Part 1 to see the full pack. Poor communication/setup on either Trendy or Steam's part.

I did the same exact thing as the OP, just didn't see the option for the Full Pre-pay DLC when I purchased. Does anyone know if Steam or Trendy support can help with this issue at all?

I'm an avid supporter of Trendy and all the hard work they've done with DD. I just hope that being locked out of content that I'm perfectly willing to pay for doesn't sour my experience here.

trendy said you ONLY need the part 1 to enable the nightmare mode! they have quickly changed their stance as of today it seems. i dont know that i can trust this company with all the loops and swaps... its really pissing off the customer base.

Same thing here, got the wrong DLC for myself, luckily I noticed so i could buy the right one for my buddies.

However Trendy for the love of god please, can you offer us a new dlc pack as a preorder for 2-4 so we can also unlock nightmare mode?

They didn't hide full pack.
Mine said plain as day, buy single DLC for $3.99 or buy 4 pack full dlc for (save 25%) $9.75

This is straight from steam store when you look at DLC.

Buy Dungeon Defenders Lost Eternia Shards DLC Part 1 --$3.99--

Buy Dungeon Defenders Lost Eternia Shards Complete DLC -- (-25%) $9.75 --

How can you screw that up??
Read before you click.

Same problem here....

I saw the new DLC was out, maybe I was half asleep or maybe I didn't scroll down, but I did NOT see the 4-DLC preorder (which is what I wanted). Anyway, I ordered "Part-1," played one of the levels and tried nightmare mode. After some bugs (including shop bug), I decided to check for updates and restart the game. This time I got a message telling me I needed the "4 DLC preorder." I see the pack now, but....

Maybe I made a mistake, maybe trendy or steam did. Not trying to behave "entitled" but to speak openly and honestly, I am not happy customer right now.

What i recommend all of you do is e mail steam support and tell them u bought single pack but wanted full pack and maybe they will re-imburse, or take that balance off full pack

When i read this particular page on the DLC, Complete pack to me ment that it would include all previous DLC, and that you need them all to play nightmare. I had all the other DLC as i am a fan of the game, so didnt go for the 4pack. Now i cant play nightmare.

Check the image and re-read my original post. I purchased the DLC through the Steam interface brought up by clicking on "Download Content" from inside the game. This listing/interface is NOT the same listings as going through the Steam Store directly.

Yes, going through the Steam storefront, it is blatantly obvious. Going through the game, the "Full" DLC is hidden from view. This is my complaint. That the game's store interface is inconsistent with the one that you see when going directly through Steam. That's what I came here to talk about.

Yeah the people that keep saying read before you click and other such non-sense should stop and view the image he posted for the benefit of the thread. No where in that image do you see the 4 pack. I looked for it high and low last night and it was no where to be found while downloading the update. I figured there would be another download for it later so I purchased the only one that was listed. The only way to view the DLC 4 pack was to click on Nightmare mode in game and get linked to it...

This is just another frustration of steam =/

Well, Maybe enough of those players will end up buying the part 2, 3 and 4 seperately and they end up making up the loss, or even gaining profit.

(Not suggesting they planned it)

And I'm sorry for you people who made that misstake, I've done it with other games and it does suck indeed.

I know your excited but PLEASE, people.. READ before you BUY. I know in the real world you can take stuff back, but in a world of invisible product (virtual games) -- it's apparently impossible to do refunds.

Edit: sarcasm (:

Opened up a support ticket with Steam this morning but still haven't gotten a response back yet, was hoping for a slightly faster turnaround time. Suppose I'll just have to do the gift/unpack trick if things aren't resolved by time I get home from work :-/

I really love dungeon defenders in a "TRENDY PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY!" type way, and I was SO excited for the new expansions and NIGHTMARE MODE!!!

DD updated, and I opened the game and opened up the DLC page through the client and in the list of DLC it only showed one new item, the $4 update pack. I looked through the list to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but nope, I had purchased every other DLC before, this MUST be the new update! So I buy it for $4. Sweet! Nightmare mode here I come!

I pop into my tavern and try to play the first level on nightmare. I can't, apparently I didn't purchase the DLC that was NOT EVEN LISTED on the DLC page. Really, Trendy? REALLY? :(

I am disappoint. I am EXTREMELY disappoint.

It's right there when you click part 1. I'm aware that it listed part 1 twice, but don't you think that was an error on Valve's part? I mean really, right when you click it you see the $10 bundle deal.

The problem is that most people don't click on the title, they just click on ADD TO CART. New update? Sweet. Add to cart. You never even get a glimpse of the secret complete DLC.

I will pretty much buy whatever trendy/valve put on the DLC page, I wish they would have just done that int he first place! o_o

It was an error on both parts, and I think trendy AND steam need to know what happened so this doesn't happen again... because it's a pretty ****ty user/customer experience and I would imagine trendy wants to know when something gets in the way of a player happily throwing money at them.

I opened a support ticket VIA steam to see if i could get a refund or pay for an upgrade to the complete DLC.
