Zaco 0 Posted December 15, 2011 How do you know if a Bone Bow, Flamethrower and disc shooter are good. Would like to know how much base damage that you need them to start with to be good. I wanna buy one for UMF cause I cba to do Survival. Edit: would also like to know how much they should be :)
Tyhan 0 Posted December 15, 2011 Closest to 540 damage (I've rarely seen bows with ~200 damage before upgrades, and never much higher personally) and their attack speed caps you can find are what you want damage wise. Also have you tried an ornamental crossbow? It's slower than the bonebow, but it has full piercing instead of single enemy pierce.
Ceron 0 Posted December 15, 2011 You could browse a few shops and take note of what stat values come up a lot. Bonebows and disc shooters can get up to 250-300 base damage, but anything over about 150 is fine. Flamethrowers, I haven't seen one start with more than about 80. Queal 0 Posted December 15, 2011 how much base damage would these weapons need to do over 200k dps? Your DPS also depends on your hero attack rate mind you! As for you question, I don't think anyone will have a straight answer for that... best thing to do is look on the trading forum and check out some stats there... then go into AFK shops and see what kind of stats are on those guns. But most importantly: how many upgrades does it have. If for example, highest base dmg is 500 and you find one with 70 ups. But there is also a weapon with 350 base damage and 75 ups, then I would buy the 75 ups one. It will cost a little more for the last 5 upgrades, but in the end it will be a better weapon. Also keep in mind the shots per second stat, that needs to be maxed too and will thus require upgrades

But there is also a weapon with 350 base damage and 75 ups, then I would buy the 75 ups one. [/QUOTE] To follow up on this, I believe bow upgrades start at ~14% of base damage per upgrade and max out at 80 damage per upgrade. To use Queal's example: The 350 base crossbow would gain: 1st Up = 49 Damage 2nd Up = 56 Damage 3rd Up = 63 Damaage 4th Up = 72 Damage 5th Up and Beyond = 80 Damage Meanwhile the 500 base crossbow would gain: 1st Up: 70 Damage 2nd Up and Beyond: 80 Damage So in the end, you gain 400 damage on the tail end (5*80) with 350 base and 75 upgrades and lose ~220 damage on the front end for a net gain of ~180 damage. Edit: Formatted for readability.
Queal 0 Posted December 15, 2011 I usually think about it like this: According to your math (Cuz I was just making some numbers up): it would take 3 upgrades to get from 350 to around 500 (it would be 518). So, now you have 1 gun with around 500 dmg and 72 ups left, while the other only has 70 ups. It's more expensive, but in the end it will be slightly better. ezkankekko 0 Posted December 15, 2011 Yep that's a great way to think about it! Not sure if my math is right :) I think I read about it somewhere lol.
Ribos 0 Posted December 15, 2011 Also have you tried an ornamental crossbow? It's slower than the bonebow, but it has full piercing instead of single enemy pierce.Wait, for reals? As in, the shots fly along like piercing shot does, dealing full damage to everything in the path? This is a game-changer. Time to find an ornamental crossbow. Fire rate doesn't make much difference when you can one-shot entire lanes (or near enough).
Nyancat 0 Posted December 15, 2011 when she arches her back and her toes curl and she starts yelling "OH GOD OH GOD". usually a pretty good sign. but beware, it could be fake.

It still doesn't go through walls... but yes, it fired straight through two ogres in UMF when I tested mine.
