Fastest map to do wave 20 survival?

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow dungeon defenders!

I only have 3 achievements left to do and one of them to cross off my list is the reach level 20 on normal survival.
I was just wondering, what would be the level that I should play that enables me to get the achievement in the least amount of time?

Currently, I'm thinking glitter but not sure if I can afk it till wave 20 in light of recent changes to survival. Any help or suggestions on this matter would be immensely appreciated!

Thank you all and happy defending :)

Tl;dr: What is fastest level to do to get wave 20 on normal achievement?

I'm not sure where folks (especially folks who've somehow managed to get every other achievement) keep getting the idea that somehow Glitterhelm is a good place to do survival. The very idea strikes me as psychotic.

Try Foundry. Its got three simple lanes and no Wyverns.

I think its the crazy number of spawn points that make it that much faster for waves to end. However, not sure if I would be able to afk it or not..

i dont know about Fastest, but the best map to do it on would be Foundries and Forges.

Very easy to block off the routes to the crystal, and unless im mistaken the Ogres only come from one door.

The number of spawn points won't make it faster. At the end they'll only be spawning from a couple of points or even only one point anyway. Moreover, you won't be able to AFK past wave 17. You can AFK up to that point fairly well, but you're going to be getting 300k+ HP ogres at that point, assassins, mages, and kobolds all thirsting for blood.

There is little underlying 'speed factor', the slowest part on any map is the point where you get down to 1 spawn and they're walking in at like 50 a a minute for the last 500. If you're comfortable doing ramparts I know that it's a very easy one to /afk - if not, I'd recommend going for forges just due to the lack of wyverns.

it does seem to have less mobs though, if im not wrong.

Farily certain that Deeper Well has to be the fastest. I made it to Wave 16 on Insane (with 2 people) in 1.5 hours. I would have kept going, but I had to get offline :'(

And that was before the enemy reduction.

Deeper Well is annoying though, because you have the spawns at the top near the crystal, and then you have spawns at the bottom.

The bottom spawns when going up the stairs has 2 Routes to take to get to the crystal, they can go left directly to the crystal, or they can go right and do a U-Turn to get to the crystal from the top

Forges is definately the easier one.

You can do it either way, but for me i block off the 2 exits at each of the spawn points, but that would require more DUs then fending off by the crystal.

Really depends on how you want to do things, how fast you want to kill enemies and how good your towers are.

The Ogre from what i recall ONLY comes from the Middle spawn points, which makes things some what easy.

You were slow. I remember reaching wave 15 for the pet (may have started at wave 8) in about 40 minutes.

So long as you did it on Medium it would be pretty easy. Only hard part were the frigging ninja's who would set about demolishing my towers every 5 seconds if I didn't run around like crazy and shoot them. On Insane now... they'd probably destroy them no matter what. Medium they'll be the weak kind so go nuts.

Auras at the top overlapping both lanes. Some magic missiles/fireballs on the wall near the top overlooking both lanes. Bowling Balls on the ramp which should be even more deadly now they travel further.

Sigh, afked till about wave 14, one elven mage slipped through and killed my crystal. Glitter is pretty hard to afk anywho, had to do substantial repairs + puts auras down on medium, which isn't exactly desirable :S

On foundried and forges you also have 80DU IIRC, and on Deeper Well you have only 60. On deeper well you have 4 approaches you have to defend, whereas on F&F you only have 3.

Glitterhelm / Summit on Hard.

At least it keeps you on you're toes so you don't get bored :)

The easiest way is to get into someones game after wave 20 and it'll give you the achievement.

I started at Wave 1. I completed Wave 15 instead of stopping there. Plus, there were 2 players, which means more baddies with more health.

I think I was about Par for course.

im pretty sure the later maps spawn less monsters ( havent done survival in ages but it was true for pure strategy ) but foundries and forges u just stick a bouncer, 2 cannonballs in crossfire and whateva other random thing you want ( i used 2 MM each entrance ) on medium can afk that till 20

Whenever I play on my own, I start at wave 5, if I have a friend, I'd start at wave 8. It's considerably faster, knocks an easy 30 minutes off your time. Not only that, but you can get everything built and upgraded by wave 10 anyway.

Currently doing it on foundries, going for the giraffe. Seems to be going well enough.

  • 2 months later...
Foundries & Forges medium took ~2 hours exact to get from 8 (start) to 20 with them being killed right as they spawn (3 MM 2 FB 1 Electric Aura covering each of the 3 staircases)

If you have the Eternia Shard DLC, try Mistymire on Medium/Hard. Only 1k or so monsters each wave at around 20, so it's insanely fast. The Loot Progression for Dummies guide has a great setup for Mistymire that works for survival up to 20. Only thing you have to becareful of is that there are 15~18 ogres for waves 10~13. After that, it goes back down to 5.

Did you time how long it took to 25 by chance? i sadly died on my foundry run on wave 24 with 50% mobs left when some freak... something.. killed my crystal T_T. Wasn't even sure what.

It takes ~3 hours for wave 25, and 4~5 hours or so to finish wave 30 Mistymire in NM for me (Misty has 30 waves in survival, as opposed to 25 for all the other maps). This includes the time taken to check each piece of loot that was on the ground. If it's Insane or lower, it's probably half that time seeing how dpsing would actually help a ton.
