[Contest] Design your own event item

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Have you ever wanted your own item in the game? This is a new chance to make it happen

  • The contest will last between 1-2 months, so you have plenty of time to come up with an idea and design your item.
  • I'll reply to this thread announcing when you have one week left to submit your items.
  • I'll reply again when the submissions are closed.
  • Items posted after the period is over won't be eligible, no matter how cool they are.

You can look at the old threads to see how people posted their ideas and what ideas they had here, here and here.

Unlike the last time though, you DON'T need to design the item on the DDDK.

The winner (or winners) will work with me to create the looks of the item after the contest ends.

Rules:

  • You must name what item will be used as a base for your event
  • You must include the item Name, Forger and Description on your post
  • Having why you want this item to be made is a nice additional bonus, for example saying the idea behind the item
  • You must state what stats the item will have. Those are subject to a balancing pass when the item will be made with me
  • Items can't have more than 8 hero stats, so choose wisely
  • Item submissions can have a Buff just like the Lifestream Hollow weapons. If the buff is too complicated though, it might not make it in

Winners will be picked based on creativity and a small influence of a popular vote

Here's a template for the item stats that you can use:

One of these generic gloves
but with lower proj speed, I want every pub to be blinded by these hands.
good dps stats (500 all round hp, hdmg, ab1, cast, range, tdmg, thp) and 999 ab2
this way it's useable but not really useful

PubTerrorist or Menace will be the forge name
"See these hands" will be the name of the item, ironic because you won't see anything with these hands in game
if you're a real one you'll put 0.05x movespeed on the item, because faster is better, but not as good as MM

damage numbers on the weapon can be stupidly high, or stupidly low and it still won't do anything because it'll take so long for the projectiles to reach

open save with weapons:

DunDefHeroes.dun.bakDunDefHeroes.dun

will make on dddk soonTM

It would be cool to have an event item for the donkey as their unique effect goes often unused... (This is the damage reduction to enemies)

My idea would be to have a slow shooting high damage donkey to prehaps help with lifestream to reduce the forest ogres damage

The description, and forge is a reference to the PowerPuff girls.

It may have some usefulness on TI, or for killing krackens is the damage is high enough. (Not sure if it's possible to make the attackspeed even slower than 1 and increase the damage more?)

Greetings everyone,

here is my idea for a new event pet:

Introduction:

Do you remember when you played this game one decade ago ? Minions were only known as enemies. Protecting your turrets was a difficult task.
Sometimes you placed a magic blockade backwards so ogres wouldnt see them and felt like you were cheating the system.
I even remember players using spiked blockades (for those of you that dont know - its a squire turret - yes they do exist).

Back to the future - how do we protect our turrets nowadays? Well... like in every build today, we place auras, one buff beam 2-3 reflection beams,
tack all LT or DST on it and easily build a meat shield wall around our small turret area.
Stacking turrets and building a meatshield is allmost used everywhere.

Dont you miss build diversity ? some creative ideas and tactical placements that is the core of a tower defence game ?
Maybe the newly introduced Hermit class will give this a change. But the hermit is also a defence unit. Will he really be enough to
change the meatshield meta? What should i do with my minion units if i use this forest golem gigachad as my turret protection ?

Here is where i wanna offer a unique idea with my event pet(s) to maybe give a incentive for new build ideas.

Core Idea:

I want to introduce two unique pets to the game. The idea behind those pets is to make use of non-used units either for defence or minions.
This could enable builds that dont run any turrets, dont run any minions, or builds that are so well thought through that they have spare units they cant
use effectively.
Pet A has a unique buff for defence units: - for every % of non-used MU Defence units get x% of increased Life (+ maybe also some resists or life regeneration )
Pet B has a unique buff for minion units:   - for every % of non-used DU Minions get x% of increased Damage
The buff pet applies a global (or only in range ?) buff to your units.

The item(s):

Pet A - the Defence Enjoyer:

Item Base:  Monk Guardian

Item Art: a small Forest Golem Pet

Item Buff: Carefull Building - for every % of non-used MU Defence units get xyz% of increased Life (+ maybe also some resists or life regeneration )

Z7fgksT.png

Pet B - the Minion Enjoyer:

Item Base: Huntres Guardian

Item Art: a small archer minion (fitting the archery Huntres vibe)

Item Buff: Ogre Crush - for every % of non-used DU Minions get xyz% of increased Damage

nLSGWL3.png

further thoughts:

- initially i was thinking about giving both Pets an multiplier to damage.
after further thought this might probably only lead to a even stronger dst meta so i
think buffing defences survivability is the key

- why guardian pets?
if these pets will actually enable some nice and unique builds i find it hard having them only available as event items.
therefore maybe a new pet type should be created that has the same buff effect but are not guardian pets.
if you are using all of your units or just leave a small portion of DU/MU these pets should still have some use and therefore
i chose the most common boosting duo.
(also the usabilty would depend alot on the maps DU/MU, so having some solid boosting pets seemed like a good idea.)

- balacing the xyz% on the buffs.
this might be kinda hard, i think buffing the minion damage number can be rather high as they dont provide the range and are that dst's do.
for the survivabilty of defences the % depends on what the buff acutally does, if its only life you may be able to be more generous.

Sorry for my wonky pet art and maybe bad grammar (non english speaker).
Id be happy to hear your opinions on the current meta and if a mechanic like this could change it or at least give a push to more diversity.

Best regards
Slubby

Hi everyone, I've never posted here before, but I want to take this opportunity to share my idea of a cool event weapon to celebrate an important milestone.

I've been playing this game for a long time, and for me, the golden age of this game was when the Thinker Lab DLC came out in the summer of 2013 (exactly 10 years ago). This was a time when everyone was farming Lab Assault. Lab Assault at that time was one, if not the best, challenge to farm accessories and higher tier armor. I remember at the beginning all the lobbies were in insane dificulty because a lot of people thought NMHC was actually impossible, until one day I entered a lobby with someone running the map using a mining laser (the worst version of the BF drill). At that time, not all the crystals were destroyable with that strategy, but the mining laser, saved a lot of time this way, and the most important killing the series EV in NMHC was possible for the first time. After some time, everyone was using the BF drill to run the map, new optimized routes were discovered, and new spots to kill the series EV quickly were found.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Lab Assault DLC I suggest an event "BF drill" like weapon.

The name could be: Jester's Lucky Weapon
The forger could be: Jester's Wheel o' fortuna
Description: Three swords to damage all enemies

This item could be useful for assault type maps aimed to be used by Jester as a character (as Jester is by far the best character to run Lab Assault).

The status could be something like

Hero Healt: 777
Hero Spead: 777
Hero Attack: 777
Hero cast rate: 777
And Hero Ability 2 (Wheel o' fortuna): 777

(and for the 8 status)
Tower healt: -7
Tower damage: -7
Tower range: -7

The 777 status could fit really well thematically since the jester is a hero "based on luck", the presentes and the party popper tower are RNG-based, and even the Wheel o' fortuna  is based on a casino slot machine.

negative tower status (-7 -7 -7) and no hero ability 1 since this weapon is meant to be used by Jesters, and this way the item is used for its purpose.
The total status would be 3857, and for comparison, the rainmaker's total base status point is 3996, so balancing-wise, I don't think it would be broken.

The weapon status  theme could be the same:
77777 damage and no elemental damage
7 atack speed
777 clip ammo
and a 77777 projectile speed bonus.

The item could have 1 upgrades and be an ultimate++, so you have to be level 100 to use the weapon (the recommended level for lab assault in NMHC).

As a weapon buff, I think it could get a 1.07 move speed (7% move speed).

Now the juicy part that would be nice to have:
Add knockback to the weapon (77). This could be massive to help on Lab Assault as it could knock the series EV faster out of the map instead of relying on chance for them to jump to their deaths.

Something like this:

44Mdhgc.png

The event to unlock the weapon may also be related to the Lab Assault map to maybe get once again full lobbies of Lab Assault for a day or two.

In my opinion, this event weapon would be a really nice way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of one of the best and most important challenges ever released in the game. And it would be a nice weapon to have for all the jesters that still want to farm that amazing map.

Best Regards

My idea for an event item was an event version of the Eye of Devastation, it would be called Retinazer, referencing one of the Twins from Terraria, it's forge would be Spazmatism (in green) referencing the other twin, it would be white in color with a red pupil, max pet size, and if possible, glowing (like most event items do), the description would be "This is going to be a terrible night..."

If its possible, i want it to shoot rapidly, like Retinazer does in Terraria, but idk if the eye is animation capped or anything, but if its possible...
Damage: 8000 (55k if not possible to fire that fast)
Shots per second: 20 (whatever max for eye is normally, i think 7, if it cant shoot that fast)
Projectile speed: 30000
600 in hero hp, hero damage, ability 1 and ability 2, -600 in all tower stats
The reason behind this particular item (which btw sorry if it's terribly unbalanced which it probably is idk proper balance lol) is because I really like the eye pet, its definitely one of my favorites, and having an event version of it would be dope asf, plus I love Terraria with a passion, definitely one of my favorite games of all time and the Twins are one of my favorite bosses in it, and the eye pet was just SCREAMING to be made into a terraria reference lmao, its literally a floating eyeball that shoots lasers. I also had the idea to make it stand out from normal eyes by being low damage but fast firing, I want the dps to be around the same as a 55k eye but idk proper numbers for that nor do I have the math skills to figure it out. Considering that Terraria and the DD franchise have collaborated once before, it would be cool to have this neat little reference in the DD game that didnt get an official collab (DD2 L), so yeah, there's my thoughts behind the item...hell maybe there could even be a recolor for Spazmatism except green lol (except Spazmatism doesnt shoot lasers so it wouldnt be accurate)
Anyways, I hope you like my idea, I put a good amount of thought into it and am proud of it, thanks for reading my wall of text. Goodbye!

(Red nose in all black

Forged by - Rudolph (Text in red)

Description - There will be no lighting the sleigh tonight (Text in grey)

325 HHP 500 HDMG 225 CAST 325 AB1 325 AB2

200 Tower Dmg 200 Range 200 rate

My main Idea behind having this event being made was due to the Mask of Legends with the similar stats spread but for a DPS Mask instead of it being Builder. My main idea behind this event item is to replace the Final patch on DPS characters for being usable with all stats and having to not choose between cast and Ab1 on the Accessory.

Here is my idea for an event, i was thinking it would be nice to have an event thats not just gonna end up in my folder right away after recieving it, but one thats gonna get used maybe once every few weeks or so, but still better than never.

So i chose a Crystal core pet event. Why? Imagine this you doing your daily armor runs, and out of nowhere some random enemy hits your core, damn you got lucky it survived with 546 hp and you say to your self "if only there was an item that could heal it", oh wait there is the crystal core pet but you dont have one in your inventory why? Because why would you ever farm wave 35 cr2. So this event would fix this problem.

I got inspired by one of my favorite literature that i read recently that is about rocks and i specificly chose the cinnabar, it has hardness of 2 on Mohs scale so the hhp and thp gotta be 2, all the other stats just nice 600 could be even lower if you think its too op, pet dmg 9999 idk if it does anything to the pet but 9999 looks cool, 123 range atleast gotta have that going for it.

This is how i picture it: gotta be red for sure maybe even little dark red, the ring has to be white/silverish, size i gues 60% would be nice, forgot to change the mana value on the picture but could be 46,960, thats about it.

So my idea for an item was an event version of the Arronax! The Excarlibug is fantastic, but yellow is not something I like at all.
Aquanos is such a nostalgic place would be incredible to have another event from the map!

The name of the item: "The Kraken's Gem"

Forged by: "Kraken" (Mauve)

The item description: "In the deep waters there is a hidden treasure!"

It would be super cool if the item could glow (mainly purple).

the stats on the item:

low lightning and base damage, 128 Knockback, 128 Charge Speed and 30k proj speed
Mana value could be 1.2500 B
Upgrade levels 2023/1

600hhp              -100thp
500hdmg             -100tdmg
400cast rate        -100trate
999 ab2             -100trange

For my event item suggestion, my idea was to provide an alternative to the Mischief Maker as a high stat ranged monk weapon. I'll start with a picture of how it looks, then talk a little bit about why I chose this and what the various elements of the item are meant to represent.

Nbnp2KK.png74yaOdp.png

Why the Desert Scimitar?

There are a few reasons I landed on this item. The first is that the desert scimitar is a long time favourite item of mine, and a former event host friend of mine always wanted a desert scimitar event item, but it never came to be. I think this is a shame as it has to be one of the best looking weapons in the game. Also, the projectile is a very fascinating and unique gold colour with space warping around it as it moves. Here's a picture of it.

S0QFth0.png

What's the theme?

The theme is an homage to my childhood fascination with astronomy, and the sense of wonder it inspired in me then and now. I came up with it after seeing these golden projectiles, which reminded me a bit of the golden records on the Voyager probes.  I've coloured the scimitar to match the Earth, and combined with the golden spheres warping space as they travel, it's as though we're launching the Voyager probes ourselves with each shot. I've tried to tie the whole thing together as best I can. The forge is self explanatory, the melee damage is 9/5/77, the date Voyager 1 launched. The description is part of one of 55 greetings found on the Voyager disc, each in a different language. All of the numbers on the weapon are prime, with the exception of the melee damage. I did this because prime numbers are often floated as a way to build communication on first contact with another species. The max upgrade count is not visible here, but it is 433/337, as 433, 337, and 433337 are all prime.

What about balance? Why a ranged monk weapon?

In addition to my love for the Scimitar's design, I'm also just not a fan of the Mischief Maker's model or blinding floor fire. My thinking is this weapon allows for an alternative to the "stat stick dps weapon" slot that MM's sit largely alone in, as opposed to the more damage focused but less stat heavy Honey Spear and Turtle Shell Polearm. As it stands, I have it as a single projectile with under-capped projectile speed. I think the slightly low projectile speed will help to prevent it from accidentally usurping Honey Spears. I've also checked it against better Honey Spears to ensure it won't beat them out (thanks Jamesy and Billy), and the current stats offer about 70% of the DPS a 270k one does, I believe. One option I've spoken briefly with Thales about is changing the ranged damage type to elemental, which may give it some wiggle room on projectile speed and damage. Finally, the stats are quite good, but below what a high end Mischief Maker can offer, so I believe it's okay on that front as it stands.

My event item is the Cobras Whisper! This event item was developed in response to the recent adept tower upgrade ability with projectile speed bonus ect. modelled off Gaias Last Gift. The Cobras Whisper serves as your adept's right hand for all upgrading needs. (im also open to feedback on stats to make this work as best as possible)

Design: Projectile colour will be a red slime ball the overall look of the weapon will be a bright glowing red with glowing yellow snake eyes and streaks of black along the shaft. (I'm also open to changes to the end design to make this weapon look as beautiful as possible)

Item Name: Cobras Whisper

Item Description: Behold the mighty cobra! The great enhancer of defences

Item Forger: Desert Sage

Weapon Statistics

Base Damage: +999

Knockback Bonus: +99

Charge Speed Bonus: +999

Projectile Speed Bonus: +99999

--------------------------------------------

Hero Health: +600

Hero Speed: +600

Hero Cast Rate: +600

AB1: +800

--------------------------------------------

Tower Health: +400

Tower Rate: +400

Item Name: Mini Fire Queen

Base Item: Spider Queen

Item Forger: Garzhod

Item Description: This doesn't look like its from Etheria...

Item Buff: 1.1x Movespeed for 10 seconds after killing a webbed enemy

Item Color: Red/Orange/Yellow Model, Black or White Gem

Why should this be made?
-Spider queens are an underutilized pet with some amazing rolls and utility. I wanted to create a multi-usage queen combining her two qualities of generating high quality tower stats, and webbing enemies into one. In this case, a new mob has made its way to etheria from the depths of embermount! Her fiery webs snare enemies with fire damage as the same vein as her cousin's, but she unfortunately has lost the ability to melee damage.

the pet hits the boss with target , pet appearance : small size with 2 colors. very black skin and intense red eyes, if possible white pupil instead of black. Possibly try colors that cast a shimmering glow all over the pet's body or just the eyes and keep the color looking its best.

It would be great if there were a new skin for the Rainmaker, it would add visual variety, and we wouldn't constantly see the same dps staff. That's why the idea came to me to imagine one based on the Emerald Staff weapon skin, which is a weapon whose appearance I love and would look good in different colors.

Named "Sun Staff" it could pair nicely with a Moonstaff as most dps jesters are using moonstaff and a dps staff.

490654235_Sunstaffstats.thumb.jpg.9e5aa06eac760b7fcde383d0c4a04beb.jpg350729166_Sunstaff2.thumb.jpg.3194fd14d9bd732849c92b72a058531f.jpg

- Name : Sun Staff

- Forger : Meshak

- Rainmaker stats and so exact same dps

- Description : Time to melt your enemies

- Sun colored projectiles (sun color)

- Quality : ultimate

- Beam color : The complementary color is a kind of blue, similar to Ultimate beam. It should look cool with orange, but I couldn't test it in reality, so the beam color is subject to change.

- No movespeed ! Cause it can't be better than rainmaker

Note that the picture is a paint edit, so not perfect. Also there is no blue beam on that screen so this has to change.

It was many years ago, now I only have vague memories from that time. Just found an old video where DarkPythonGames is rolling on a monk equipped with it and a seahorse. Do you remember the times when monk wrench was a thing? Was never able to get a good one on my first play through back then, wasn't even able to beat sky city... The nostalgia...

Fast forward a few years and we have hermit. So I would  like to suggest an event item that is designated as a melee weapon for hermit.

As you already have guessed, the event item is a monk wrench.

image.png

Notes, additions and corrections to the image above
1) Size: very big
2) Special ability: can be activated with a slight chance on every hit. When activated, the ability will double the weapon size for a few seconds.
3) Quality: Torn
4) Melee damage: I don't want this to be OP like rainmaker is, I still want it to be a competitive choise though. So perhaps enough damage to beat 80% of possible alternatives available for hermit (e.g. tinkerer's spear, emerald spear)
5) Item Description: "Caution: Use very gently... or stuff will break." (Did not fit in description in dddk so the "Caution:" had to go)
6) Mana Value: 131,142,521
7) Ups: 1/1

Special thanks to boltdan for designing the spear in dddk!!!

The event to unlock the weapon may also be related to the Lab Assault map to maybe get once again full lobbies of Lab Assault for a day or two.

In my opinion, this event weapon would be a really nice way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of one of the best and most important challenges ever released in the game. And it would be a nice weapon to have for all the jesters that still want to farm that amazing map.

Best Regards

Hi again, everyone!

To follow up on my post, a few days ago I found out that nowadays to run Lab Assault a new weapon is being used, the "Moon Staff", For that reason, I've come to suggest other possibilities for an event weapon to celebrate the 10th year of Lab Assault. The "Jester's Lucky Staff".
The idea behind it is the same as my last submission, but this weapon would be cool to celebrate the new way to clear the map.

Honestly, I don't know how fair these stats would be for this weapon, as I only came back to the game a few months ago and I've yet to farm a good moon staff. For that reason, I am open to suggestions from the community for the balance of this weapon. Thank you in advance for taking time to see my idea. Best regards.
