Hacker?

I thought that there was anti-cheat on this game, yet someone just joined my game (NM survival) and was doing millions of damage, and had towers that shot tons projectiles that spanned almost the whole map, and also did millions of damage.

I am a fan of this series, and I remember DD1... as well as all the problems with hacking on that game (I played on Xbox). Will this be improved in the future? I don’t mind if people hack... I just don’t want them doing it on other people’s’ games.

Was each projectile doing millions of damage? Placing a lot of DSTs can cause them to deal millions of damage very quickly but each shot won't do more than around 500K damage without some sort of boost. Hero damage can also get insanely high. My Huntress does almost 50mil DPS in the tavern. I'm not sure what that works out to in NM but it's still in the millions.

No. Each projectile did millions. The towers did as well, and the rate of fire was insane.  I’m inclined to say it is hacking or something.

Except they have an anti hack client. This person in question probably had extremely high tier massacre gear with level 100.

No anti hack system is fool proof, i wouldnt be surprised if op did indeed come across a hacker.

There will always be hackers, we can only hope that it wont be as bad as dd1. 

So far it seems pretty decent, I've only across one player myself. 

We all sure do hope that you were able to get his name, get a screenshot, a video even better. Everyone's curious now.

From what I understand, if someone is hacking the game it should know and automatically label them as a hacker in the game so that they can be identified if they join a public game.  I think by default hackers shouldn’t be able to join public games, maybe it’s a work in progress, idk, but I remember seeing an update about people being misidentified as hackers.

Again, coming from a low tier player. It sounds as though the op is just breaking into nightmare and ran into someone who was fully geared with the best equipment. This is rare as only about 1-5% of the player base is truly geared enough to handle this content. And I’d imagine seeing them have this gear could come off as hacking. As my gear almost looks “hacked” from how high the stats are. This is more wanting clarification or some type of video proof. As I’d doubt someone would be stupid enough to openly use hacks knowing the risks of a permanent ban from the game.

i have no endgame gear i would save "lower" massacer gear.  and this is what my dst looks in nightmare. to clarify. 2300 power 2000 range, 1900 rate.  and my highest upgradable item is 207.

This is what I’m referring too. Your gear could potentially look like it’s cheating to people who are just starting nightmare. That’s not even as high as you can get either. I was monk boosting my dst with a maxed 91.36% power gem and monk. And with a level 1 dst it was hitting for 1.2mil

Oh my ignorant child, i had 4k main / 2k secondary builder stats pre may 28th release - i know what high stats look like.

Op already stated that he was in NM.  No one joins and does millions of dps im NM - edit: especially per projectile for hero dmg as per op stated.

But since you choose to be naive here is a pic of someone ive come across.

All games have hackers - there will always be hackers in Dungeon Defenders.

As others have mentioned we do have a current anti-hack system which will flag hackers for a bunch of reasons, but no game is gonna be perfect when it comes to preventing hackers, especially a game like ours that isn't 100% online only with dedicated servers. That said, the best thing you can do when you come across a hacker is to report them to Ice or I in the discord so that we can investigate their profile.

i think thats not the point he....she....tmyth tried to make i think he just tired to say "just because somebody does millions of dmg doesnt mean he hacks/cheats" yes there are some how cheat to beat the game then there are others....after i hit 91 in beta i tried to figure out how power/range/rate scales (linear or non-linear etc)i used cheat engine since it was the easiest way to look at higher stats (not to beat the game since i have beaten it at that point and had more or less good gear, also all "legacy"characters have been deleted by me since i dont want any rewards from that thats also also why i started fresh in "play". but back to the point. look at my dst i have realy realy bad massacre gear i bet if somebody has only 286 pieces he can easily reach 600-700k+ dps.

Thanks for taking the time to address this.  I worry about the rioting player base flooding the forums with "HACKER!" when in reality, it's just high end players and the average player just can't believe what they're seeing.  When you see a DST hit for 1.5M a pop in a promenade game, public players usually start with "WTF?".

So because I stated I would like proof of said hacker from the op you take offense because I said there was no info provided? No picture evidence. No video. You start with calling me ignorant and flaunting extremely over powered beta stats where you could get 400 upgrade pieces of gear from promenade.... 4k stats in legacy play isn’t impressive. As the highest I’ve heard of is a 270 upgrade piece. And the max you could get now is about 4k with fully upgraded gear. Go ahead and get butt hurt when I wasn’t even addressing you when I obviously stated the OP. So sad.
