The new start...

Im not ok with this. I do not agree with Chromatic games throwing in a sly move like that. I myself have followed the discussions on whether or not accounts should be reset and the majority of players did not want a reset. Seems like CG threw us a quick one. Yes, they said accounts would not be reset, they stuck to that, but I feel like they knew that and mislead what actions they would be taking from when the game released. "We wont reset accounts" BUT "Were going to turn all your account progress into a joke by throwing yours in with the modded accounts." Honestly I dont think im upset with having to restart, but I really feel CG twisted their words when they had the full intention of doing this from the start. I want communication, and I dont think im getting that here.

That is exactly how I feel. I was looking forward to grinding my account on Massacre mode, but after realizing what they did (and no communication about it) I dont know if Im going to play this for a while. I would of done the same thing as you and probs just watched videos on gameplay, maybe put in 30 hours or so, and then would have waited for this full release. If I would have been told 2 weeks ago that my account progression would not mean jack, I would have slowed down and took a breather.

I've reported this to steam about what told Chromatics games (aka Trendy same for me).

Hope they will do a rollback about that bullshit, i'm really pissed off, got more than 150hrs in this game because they said we will no have a reset !!!

@[CG] Philip can you provide a little backstory here?

Earlier this month when you specifically said "Just to help put some minds at ease, We still have no plans to wipe data at launch" had the decision already been made that our data was essentially going to be worthless?  If so, why were we not told at that point?  And if not, can you provide an explanation of what went into making that decision after we were promised that our data wouldn't be wiped?  In either case, this was incredibly misleading on CG's part, and I feel we're owed an explanation.

I've put over 350 hours into EA play, and backed the kickstarter with a not-so-insignificant amount of money.  This feels like a direct slap in the face from CG.

To be clear, I'm not trying to specifically direct anger at you.  I fully understand this may not have ultimately been your decision, but since you knew enough to comment on the "wipe at launch" thread in the EA forums, I'm assuming you're still in the loop on the decision making here.

I wish I only had 150 hours into it...

700 hours down the drain.  after all the promises.  I'm very disappointed guys.....

This is the odd thing about games nowdays.

If you are unhappy you have to do it again, did you really enjoy it in the first place?

Doesn't affect me much luckily as I kind of held off knowing that the release would be more complete so even if everything was kept I could still expreience it from the beggining fully.

This isn't a rogue-like though.  It's not meant to be done again.  DD is based on a time consuming grind to endgame.  Forcing that grind to be repeated for no good reason seems like a justifiable excuse for players to be unhappy about it IMO.

Maybe we will get another wipe @ switch release (~05.2021) and another @ ps4 release (~05.2022). So don't loot to much

Just so you know, it's not a wipe, it's a "complication" and "tons of problems" when trying to copy EA saves to live.

Yeah, technically he did not lie but let's be honest, "play" and "legacy" are really looking like the equivalent to DD1's "ranked" and "open" (legacy will support mods, but you can only play with other legacy players and I would not be surprised, if they will add an option to export your "play" progress to "legacy" but not vise-verse) and that being the case, we are basically getting forced "highly encouraged" to start anew...

Personally I do not totally mind a fresh start, even though I farmed quite a lot. But I certainly would not had played that much, if I knew a "soft" reset would be imminent. The worst thing is not even the loss of gear, because with the introduction of massacre it would have become irrelevant anyway, but the immense amount of time it took to farm the necessary gold to upgrade it and now the XP again to reach that point. I really hope that they buffed the gold income / or it is at least better in massacre.

And I can definitely understand everyone here, who is really upset about this decision. And I am also really disappointed, that I have to grind up again instead of trying out massacre today...

this^ right here.... curve ball thrown by the devs. one way or another someone knew, and let us find out for ourselves. worst part is we are the ones who backed the game that are upset.... 

I am not even mad or upset that I have to start over, its more the fact that we were misled to start over. Because lets face it who is going to play legacy? Low blow @crhomatic

This is the big part for me. I had 2 of everything level 80-87 except only 1 huntress.
