It will look super cool in your inventory now....also, if you AP, you'll never have to upgrade it again

Hello fellow defender,

Quote from CG Dani, "Yeah, if you see anyone with a gilded hypershard in DD2 atm, it's the result of abusing an unintended in game bug. We've warned folks that doing so may cause harm to their profiles in future. Very much a risk that is not advised as we wouldn't be able to help in the case of any loss. Nice folks don't cheat"

How is this cheating?  There is literally no advantage...I assumed cheating implies performing actions that give you an advantage over others that is not intended.

Essentially gilding hyper shards isn't intended by the devs at all. And as you've already said it, you'll never have to upgrade it again when you invoke Ancient Power which clearly is an advantage over those who did not gild their hyper shard.

I would say this is debatable.  To guild the Destructive Pylon requires 10 ancient power resets and performing 3 prime missions.  This is 330 maps.  Since there is not power gain on the destructive pylon, the only gain is not having to upgrade the destructive pylon anymore after AP resets.  The cost to guild this was 330 maps, and 2 million gold.

So to equate these, someone runs 10 AP resets, then has to run at least 4 more AP resets and upgrade their destructive pylon each time, and then after 14 AP resets, would then see a disadvantage in gold.

Chromatic can better use their time by not doing anything.  They could work on DDA or fix the lag on Lost temple instead of worrying about the destructive pylon guilding, which is a waste of time.

I do not see this quote anywhere on the forums from Dani.

There is this one from another thread:

"Gilding hypershards is definitely not intentional. We've taken preventative steps to enforce this, but it seems under certain limited circumstances, and due to unintentional behaviour, it may be possible in one or two limited but specific cases.

With our attention and resources focused on DDA at the moment, I cannot at the moment provide an accurate timeline for a resolution on this issue, but I wanted to highlight that we consider it a bug, it's not intended and it may cause unforeseen technical issues if you continue to exploit it (of which we wouldn't be able to assist)."

and this one:

"The easiest solution is to delete or not use them. If you choose to use them, depending on a potential future resolution, it may cause issues or conflict with your existing save profile. If there's even a small chance of data loss or corruption for a player's profile - I wouldn't risk it.

Any future fix for the issue has a very real chance of removing or altering any number of hypershards above the normal max of two. So keep that in mind."

It was from the Discord. Would you like a screenshot of it?

Disbelieve at your own peril. Just don't come whinning on the boards if your account gets messed up or even erased later. You were warned. 2 Hypershards is the max allowed. Period. Just because you are able to do something, doesn't mean you should.

Personally i'm not doing it, but I really think it'd be a waste of time and resources for Chromatic to even worry about it.  That's my actually point.

Why take the time to erase someone's account when they get no gameplay advantage?

CG is unlikely to go through a single account and surgically remove the shards or enact a punishment on a player. More likely they will remove the bug allowing the extra shards and limit the total you are allowed to have. When that limit goes into affect, any accounts beyond that limit could be severely affected by that adjustment, and if per se your account was lost because of that process - CG is warning you right now that they will not be undoing that for you. You lose.

So roll the 🎲. I'm not betting my account with years of play to exploit a glitch that we were told not to. Defiance and karma will meet down the line...

I'm not disagreeing with you that it is a risk, and I will not be participating as I've stated.  I also do not believe Karma has anything to do with it.
