What Are Some Good Ballista Builds?

I haven't used ballistas since DD1. What shards and mods should I use? Also, do ballistas need piercer mods for shield enemies?

When I mainly used ballistas I used destruction, mass destruction, defense rate, servos rate, melee damage, piercer. You can also use mass destruction, splody harpoon and rate

I was under the impression that Ballistas have a natural piercing effect, so no MOD is needed...

I use them for the roller lane in onslaught: anti-miniboss servo, piercer servo, defense range servo with destruction, defense rate, and empowered bolts.

Not sure where you got that idea from Jaws. It hits multiple targets, but its piercing and the Piercing MOD are two different things. Just like corrupt form Harpy Perch. Geodes and Vanguards still reflect / block the projectile.

I read that Balista and Harpy had innate piercing ability. Who knew that piercing didn't pierce? LOL can't see how that would be confusing... Good to know the MOD is different, thanks.

AFAIK there is only "ballista bite" which adds poison to the ballista damage which could be useful on a controlled burn lane if they are also physical damage weak maybe.  I've never used it THB.

As above, but its use is entirely restricted to Controlled Burn lanes and its superceded by a Water Servo on a different tower / PDT as the poison damage it does is averaged over the duration instead of per tick.
