Not an Onslaught suggestion. Just a frustration vent.

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just have to say, that I'm having problems in onslaught. I used to think that it's fun. But after being stuck on floor 60 for days after days and manage to get help to reach floor 62, I got stuck there for days now again. With the floor restart system ain't helping either...

I used to thought that it's mind-blowing for the Hard counter mix-up (I still agree with it, but that should be in trials). But after loses after loses, I realize that it's just not fun anymore.....

What's worse than those are the blasted frost enemies tearing through my defenses.

So my suggestions are....

1.) Remove all the Chaos and Incursion enemies.

2.) Add more mutators. A whole lot more mutators. Bring in the portals from campaign if it's possible. Add enough amount of mutators to compensate and equals the difficulty of the chaos and incursion enemies.

I personally think going back to Nightmare (it just means minus chaos enemies) with mutators would lighten the frustration.

And as I said and I feel strongly about it, what stays in Chaos Trials stays in Trials as with what's in Incursion stays in Incursions.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with this strongly? Or have something else entirely? Feel free to post. Cheers! (or maybe not 'cause of the frustration if you defenders are feeling that too hehe)

I am not saying I don’t get frustrated, but I have enjoyed having to actually think (often hard) about how to deal with a lane based on the HUGE combination of who is in it, their mutators and what the geo layout of the lane is. I will say that I was super stuck on 61 until I started thinking VERY differently about how to mix and match defenses across numerous hero’s to deal with dicey lanes. Once I got over that (and had true end game level gear) it has mostly been a rinse and repeat. I just hate not being able to walk away and take a break during 3 B2B maps. They NEED to have a way to take a break and come back. Even if they still insist on them all being B2B wins.... (not that I would complain about a “do-over”, but plenty of people are now over floor 100).

But, yeah, maybe it's just the frustration of having to restart the entire floors that's irking me big that I have to worry about that every time. So if that's gone, I guess that will be a huge chunk of frustration gone. And maybe then it will be back to fun I guess.

Frost mobs with cyb are the worst!  I started having a lot less trouble by using flame auras. I max out gambit and then also add deadly strikes when dealing with those. With that much range you can usually place them far enough that they won’t get it or put them on both sides so if they stop to disable one the other is hitting. Combine the lane with some bees, lightning auras, cannons and/or earthquake tower and you can often concentrate so much DPS that’s they die before they can do anything. Seriously though, max range flame aura can be put a LOT of places that avoids them.

Of course, I do still sigh every time I see a lane with Cyb, but honesty they are the only lanes I have to “think”. If they aren’t there then the only thought required is what is min DPS for min DU to handle the schedule volume/profile. Oh, and those dang suicide spark air raid bombers. I hate those things the most currently.

Thanks for the tip! Agreed with you too, those EMPs are the ones that's mind boggling. And yeah, I hate those kobolts even during trials! They're so nuts that I have to use a Totem'ed Skyguard as crash bait in onslaught!

I think it's HARD AF. Most people are using Dryad since you can kind of build with no thoughts behind it. Put Hornets way outside reach of being EMP or froze. We should definitely have some tweaks done so it is easier to use other characters. Overall it is achievable though as many of us have made it to 65 across all the platforms. Restarting the whole floor is just terrible though!

Yeah, that is partially part of why I prefer the chaos enemies and incursion enemies to be removed. Then you could experiment or have fun with other towers.

We could have way more interesting mutators to make it more challenging, one lane could have more than two. I think the portals from campaign would add some thrill to it too.

Yeah, nvx recommended the Totem skyguard with VE to me and it was a great suggestion. Although 3 of those spark suicide bombers still take it out so i usually still need a backup on

Indeed, did the same too, either a skyguard further away, or a nimbus. And sometimes hoping the bees could reach them too.

I will say having the new map is awesome and we should have more adaptive maps like it but it gets boring very fast. I only say that since it is literally the last map every time you get to the 3rd map on a floor.

I am glad you mentioned that. There are some GREAT places to put Bees that will get the air attacks and often get them very early. And they are usually super effective. They have VERY poor range though vertically so you have to be sure you have access to them.

I don´t wanna toot my own horn here (but I do), and I might be wrong, but I´m gonna go out on a limb here. I play solo and I think I´m literally the only one on floor 100+ that has never even once, used the Dryad, for anything, on any map in Onslaught. squire_small.png

Besides me tooting my horn.... yes, the restarting is BS

Pretty damn amazing if I do say so! At the same time though... how many players are there with you? Which is even worse on consoles over PC. For the few of us that actually grind this hardcore, don't you think it is a little hard and repetitive for a few points? It is only useful with other people that have prestiged too. I mean even if you had the full 50 points would you say its worth all the work put into it? I mean, I don't know, maybe I am winning with my extra 1% damage. :^)

Thank you, I play all solo. Yes, it´s so repetitive and unrewarding. I really don´t feel like resetting and doing it over and over for such small rewards. For that I cherish my 2,1K Asc too much.

Would like to see them limit the total number of cybork and geode lanes on a map that has 6 or more lanes. Say a 1/3 can be geode  and 1/3 can be cybork.

Got it, thanks! And yes, they are super effective against flyers! It's the vertical hurdle that has to be work around.

That's amazing, how do you deal with the frost enemies with crazy combos then?

I range my PDT´s and place them so the frosties have to walk as long as possible while withering in the poison.

I also find that max range flame auras are exceptionally good in Onslaught. With gambit, deadly strikes and vicious strikes they are so big, they can handle any cyborg lane with ease, and with good placement also frost lanes.

Then what about Frost + Vanguards + Cyborks + Controlled burn or Phased  or Vampiric + an air lane with kobolts on top like little-horn valley and dragonfall sewers?

Little horn valley is actually one of my favourite maps, to use flame auras. Because of the winding paths in that map, you can place the auras, so they spend max time scorching, while they turn about their curvy paths.

With just a little practice, you learn how close Cyborks need to actually get to a defense, before they start trying to EMP it. They actually have to get quite close, so after realizing that, it becomes easier placing auras, so they will never be EMP´d.

PDT´s at a safe distance for the controlled burn and the frosties, and the rest dies from auras.

Oh, Phased is a good one, makes them all slow:) Only have to be careful if the Orc ladies are in the lane, because they will still be fast.

I see. Thanks man! Really hopes that it works for me. I'm starting to really losing my patience in all this.....This has really not being fun......That's why this thread pops up.

Actually I have to clear this subject before the wrong impression falls.

Basically this thread pops up right after I lost like a bunch of times in a row, which in turn is partially near-breaking point after losing day after day. Some really close to wining ones. And every loss feels literally dreadful, very dreadful. The pain of knowing that you have to restart over two maps again that is spending unnecessary hours. It does lead me to lose my confidence in even attempting Onslaught knowing that something will screw-up and I lost those hours again not progressing.

This could get really frustrating and downright angering or pissing which in turn lead me to not thinking straight. Hence, there's the impression of ranting in that "suggestion" which totally defies the endgame theme.

So after some (albeit short) time of rethinking and other defender's post, those made me rethink my "suggestion".  I realize that it is too far-fetched.

So now, with my judgement not clouded, I will make a proper suggestion in another thread. (Onslaught still have their flaws, there's no doubt about it)

I apologize to anyone (and to the devs) who thought this "suggestion" went a bit unreasonable.
