C8, C9, C10...When???

Recommended Posts

I remember Trendy having plans for up to Chaos 10. Should the new Chaos levels come out before the End Game? Anyone know anything?

Trendy?

I believe they will bring new content (new modes, new maps and heroes) first before they push for more chaos tiers...

I, too, hope for this.  If not one more Chaos tier with each major content release.

I'm getting excited despite myself for the Onslaught Version 2 and the "Endgame" content.

However, let's all be perfectly clear that Chaos Trials, while not the "endgame", were DEFINITELY intended to be the endgame on release. Hell, the Dev Post titled "Chaos Trials - the Endgame Update" is still on the News page. I'm all for more content, but moving the goalpost when you swing and miss is no bueno, and I worry that if the new modes don't deliver we'll get another "J/k we're totes working on the REAL endgame" thing.

I really don't want to see more chaos tiers.

It's not going to fix the issue of the game being too easy. It's just going to be a band-aid, because once you reach Chaos 10 gear you will be face rolling the content on there as well. It would just take you a day or 2 to get from 7-10 and then what?

The game needs something else to make it challenging. They need to go back to DD1's style of difficulty and stop holding your hand on what's supposed to be the toughest content.

a great summary of how I feel about this

too much half-baked stuff

edit: Chaos is out for quite a while and there are still hard counters and complaints about how all of this works. Thinking about the time it takes until 'new stuff' is working as intended (and maybe even as how the players like it) I fear it will take at least a year until every new content is balanced and working.

Another factor that makes the Trials Update not very appetizing is that there are things that are removed from the game. For ex. whatever that's connected to the Nightmare difficulty and itself. During the Trials Teasers, I was actually expecting Chaos Trials to be some challenges after Nightmare. Kinda bummed out when it was revealed that Nightmare was going to be removed.

So let's hope that future stuff do hit the spot.

Actually there might be a need for more chaos tiers as there are shards that has been removed from drop table on Patch 19.5 which is two or 3 patches after the Trials Update and we need them back again.

Either that, or those shards could be returned to their respective Chaos drops. But I'm on the side of wanting more Chaos tiers.

Why does anyone want more arbitrary chaos tiers? There shouldn't even be more than 1 because it's all we need. We need breadth, not depth. Anyway, what if I spent 100 hours farming for a 23k relic only to be able to get a 24k relic in 1 hour after another arbitrary chaos level comes (C8)? Shards shouldn't even be chaos-level specific. That doesn't make much sense and it makes lower-chaos-tiered players miss out on a lot of potential tower combos and content in general. Shards should have different rarities if you ask me, just like pets and items do and drop at all levels. I REALLY hope we don't see another chaos level, ever, that is, and hopefully we see harder maps and higher tiers of loot that don't drop so much because legendaries in this game are definitely NOT legendary.

The only way I would care about more chaos tiers is the the introduction of new enemies. Variety is never a bad thing.

As for shard distribution, there are other ways that can be done with out the introduction of artificial difficulty.

Idk, I rather see a unified end game difficulty with pre set options the players can choose. Like the addition of hardcore mode and such. Also proper enemy scaling which no matter how good your gear is it's still a challenge.

Lastly bring back Ogre trains, apply some much neededed pressure to lanes. Right now if I see in Ogre in DD2 I don't even worry about it as it will just die by itself. Which is a far cry from DD1, where if you saw an Ogre lane you will get your ass over there asap to not get decimated.

What made DD1 fun is that it presented a constant challenge, especially when they added new challenges like rising lava in talay mines and farming for coal for diamonds.

These maps weren't easy and required strategy to over come them, not just raw power.

Trendy has stated in a few streams that more Chaos tiers are NOT currently in the works. And if they did come, they would be very far down the road. This is a good thing. More Chaos tiers would basically just be "power creep," and we don't need more of that. Current endgame players would clear the new tiers within a week - then we'd be right back where we are now. Just with higher numbers (and having to re-farm all our gear, due to an arbitrary increase in numbers. Without any new gameplay to show for it. That benefits nobody.)

They are currently finishing up a mode which they promise is an enduring endgame activity. That's something we really need. If anything I hope that the power levels don't increase with it at all. Rather that it provides an incentive and variety in potential endgame play. I have faith it will do that, even if only to a degree. Let's see how it pans out.

Cheers.

That's way better to hear.

Although you wouldn't know it since Trendy are like ghosts atm. I'm going to watch a few past streams that I have missed and maybe I will understand their thought process.

If this is indeed a new end game which isn't a numerical Chaos increase then hype that *** up.

You do have great valid points here.

Totally agree on introducing more enemies in Chaos. Perhaps it's much better if there are different enemies in each chaos tiers, instead of the same enemies getting carried over to the next chaos tiers. AND with those introduced, we don't need more chaos tiers!

(One of the reasons for me agreeing to have more chaos tiers is for this game to reach Chaos X which does sounds cool. But, of course, that's just me. I could live without that.)

Agreed too on those shards could be distributed in other ways.

I never thought Chaos Trials to be the endgame. I was hoping Endgame to be something Crazy.

And, yeah......this game does need more killer bosses. Like one that has to go through phases, if you played terraria, or have seen Transformers War for Cybertron bosses, you know that those are killer.

Well, agreed that this game do need more challenges, I would like to experience a challenge that DOES NOT allow AFK-ing for even 1 sec.

I would like to see the campaign been extended with more (BOSSES PLEASE), bring back a new and improved onslaught, crazy challenges like DD1 volcano map (whatever it was called) with special gear/weapon tied to them and PvP modes like tower wars and maybe bring the MOBA back from the dead (I'm not a pvp fan but more variety the better).

I want to see all this before more chaos because the system we got right now gets boring quick.

How about a new "surprise" system where the city hub can get randomly attacked maybe once or twice per day and need to be protected by everyone in that specific lobby (limited time matchmaking to only those people) which can give special gear, weapons, shards or even cosmetics only available to that map.

How about a new strategy mode available from the general or colonel NPC where we try to reclaim areas of the world from the army of the old ones which takes place after the campaign.

Victory, defeat or even idle (no one doing a certain map for some time) has an influence on the map.  Everyone stats counts for that mode, example, after 500 combine wins the next map is unlocked for anyone attempting this mode or maybe if a certain challenge is done loads of times something helpful can be unlocked in the next map like a big catapult we can interact with.

If to many people start losing then the farthest map, secret route or helpful tools like the catapult thing above could be locked again and need to be reclaimed.       Call this the community mode.

My example for this mode is kind of like the Sunwell patch for the burning crusade expansion in WoW if someone ever played it back in the day.

There is far more other stuff and modes to be added to make the game more appealing before making more chaos tier imo.

Lucky for you, the new onslaught is coming by the end of the year!

BTW....I love that surprise hub siege idea! After some tweaking. it should be even more fun. A huge horde of enemies against a max of 20 players is actually going to be a whole new level!

The strategy mode sounds pretty cool too!
