The jump from c4-c5??

Recommended Posts

How are you guys making the jump into c5 from c4? My walls are holding and my towers seem to take down the mobs ok but no matter what I do I can't deal with the assassins. My 70kdps flamer I have in my "safe zone" to try and deal with them can't even kill one of them when they stun me twice before I die. If my hero has enough life to survive I don't have the damage to kill them and vice versa..   A minimum ascension lvl I should be before I even bother with c5?

I'm not even trying to beat c5 just trying to at least survive enough waves for some drops.

I'm having the same issue with 100k dps flamers and 3.2mil health walls it's ridiculous kinda hate the assassins wish it was the dd1 assassins instead

i just quote it from another player [[130078,users]]

Here is a ezmode setup.

#1 1  mystic wall

#2  1 freeze frosty

#3 mystic snake thing that drops heal orbs

#4 AP/HH Abyslord spamming abysknight on your self

#5 sparkle party pet

#6 1-2 skyguards

If you cant handle assassins with that stack you deserve to lose. The heal orbs insta full heal you the second an assassin dies and the rest will keep them off you so you can spam abysknight and perma stun/dps it all.

HH/AP should be your build of choice with any hero you choose to dps with in C5 imo. In full C4 gear upgraded I think I had over 50k hp, more than enough to survive long enough to take them out (with assistance from either frosties, geyser, snaking sands and any damage tower I chose at the time).
PS I don't think flamers attack assassins as they count as a flying enemy, mine don't go out of their way to attack them :'(
Abyss lord is very easy to hand with his knight of the abyss coupled with his great healing circle ;)

I do it with a 50k hp AL now. All I use now is the frosty tower with the freeze shard, and I always place it near some air towers. If you don't have freeze shard, I hear you can use the geyser trap but I haven't tried that yet.   I know the sand snakes stun works too but you need a mystic for that and I think the viper's fang works faster.   If you're using an AL for it, make sure you're using the healing fountain with it.

I can't say for sure... As I'm no where near C5 yet... But from what I'm getting from all the people that do play C5, I'm starting to wonder if we just need to get Trendy to trade that stun for an uber strong slow or something.

The inability to fight back without cheesy safe zones kinda feels uninviting to me, and what seems to be others.

But that's just the 2 cents of someone who hasn't had to deal with them yet...

They are pretty silly. You have to cheese them in one way or another, and instead of being something that should be countered by players, you're once again delegating defense to handle them (unless you're using an AL I guess).

Otherwise, basically all you can do is wait them out. And I doubt that's what Trendy had in mind when adding these. You've gotta hope your defenses can handle C5 on their own and literally nothing can even have a hint of going wrong because you literally can't even change heroes the moment the assassins start even merely targetting you.

TBH, as a concept with the intention of being a FUN addition to the game, they're pretty much doomed to fail. Invisible, tanks even though they're supposed to be assassins, they lock the character from doing anything at all, heal up, and they can all latch onto you at the same time. And the worst - ground targetting towers ignore them. Literally every single one of those properties are horrible. :/

Feels like they tried to reinvent the wheel when they already had the DD1 assassins they could easily copy. I get they want to innovate, but again, this is way too extreme imho.

Makes me worried for when Trendy gets around to adding Sharken and spiders again...

No your right. Its not particularly fun. It pretty much prevents you from playing most of the DPS heros in lane.

I like playing ev2 and i cant use death from above without getting stuck in the air with assassins shanking me.

Once you outgear C5 they are just annoying since you are going to win regardless. I sometimes afk and just let them kill me over and over. The problem with doing that is they count as mobs and wont despawn if there are more than 4 left. So you have to kill them eventually.

i was so lucky that 2 hours before this weeks patch i finally got to a point where i could clear first 3 waves of c5 solo so i could start getting some gear..... now im stuck back at wave 1 again :D dono how to best describe the feeling i get while playing the game being unable to do anything to help out my struggeling defences. so i gess im back to c4 doing runs till i hit assencion lvl 300+ apparentlly everything gets too easy once you hit that :D

Completely with you Alex on this, I'm back grinding ascension as I simply dislike suffering in C5, it is zero fun.

It's annoying that those that cheesed C5 to death are now sitting pretty whilst those that didn't get there are hitting  a very hard wall. A wall that those who have already exceeded C5 don't understand.

the bad news, the transition is very painfull and rng based....

first of grind in c4, till you have hero health + x, depending on the other stat you want/using (usally ability power) on all your gear items. this should get you about 40k health.

this helped me quite a lot: get a gato pet with sparkle party. the abilitys reset on death, so you have a few secounds to after each death to dmg the assassins. very important here, get less trigger happy with the ability. wait a bit, till all assassins are near you and then stun them (need the health pool for this) and then start dps. (as support for dps i would usally put 2 skyguards near the place i stay during the waves.)

the last thing is hope for good drops...

depending on your shards/heros:

every stun works okayish. cannonballs can stun+dps if you have the shard for it. the oil geyser shard for stun can help or the blockade stun shard. all these are chance to stun, but at the start of c5 you usally will get beaten down pretty fast, hope for the stuns and if not die and try again or get the stun and some dps in.

for heros i would prefer abys for the knight stun, but other bursty options work too (apprentice manabomb, squire slam), since you can use sparkle party and then use the burst. on respawn you should have full mana so you can burst again.

overall:

i found it not fun at all. usally did a few runs of c5 (me dieing in wave 2/3), then got frustrated with the assassins and did a few lower tier runs. when going into new tiers it's super important to equip relics (+ gear if you can spare the shard slots if you drop blue items) on your dps to raise your item power and get better drops this way. i hit the item cap on my dps before i even beat my first c5 map... but you can get pretty good blue drops that top your current stuff this way. in the end sadly it is really only rng. after you hit the max item values you can do runs, where nothing drops. or you can do one run and get max value items. welcome to rng based suffering^^

Well so then I guess I just have to grind more mindless ascension lvl's to get my tower dps higher so I can afford to never need to be in lane to clear at least the first wave of c5, My flame tower did actually attack it, just didn't kill it.
