Searching for session bug

Sorry to keep posting about this but It has been happening nonstop ever since the major update a couple weeks ago, I've sent in two tickets and still heard no solution and gotten no reply to the tickets.  When trying to log into a tavern, town, match, or move to another match or go back after a match is done, I get a message "searching for session" for a while, then it lags out.  Sometimes I get error 0000 or too many match requests.

Looking up this issue it seems it has been common in the past, but I've already tried all the given solutions (verifying steam cache, disabling firewall/AV software, changing port forwarding, reinstalling, etc.) and nothing has had an effect.  It is very time consuming and I probably spend longer trying to get into a tavern or match than actually playing.

Sorry to bump this but it has been almost a month and 3 tickets with no response.  I have tried disabling firewall, AV software, opening ports (all of which are unsafe to do on a long-term basis), changing server from US to Euro.   Nothing works.  Unless I am replaying the same map (and not in the trials), I have a 100% failure rate when going directly from one game to the next, meaning if I am with a group doing trials or anything other than spamming the same map over and over again, not only do I get booted, but they (or whoever I wind up with) get screwed as I often find in the log that I have been put into a game and then kicked out, meaning my character is appearing in games and causing the mobs to be tougher but none of this registers on my end, so the group just sees an afk/leecher joining and screwing up their game.  I assume this is responsible for a number of the "afk" players in games that have been a common problem as well.


I could just not join any multiplayer games or always select go to tavern after one is done, but even so it's wasting about 4-5x more time trying to get into a match than actually playing.


Edit - I'd also add that for whatever reason, it seems like I have more success getting into games when alternating methods (if entering private tavern fails, it will keep failing, but then entering public will work and vice versa, same with game types.)

Thanks, I did file a bug report as well, in between two of the tickets, probably a couple weeks ago.  I also found reference to this issue in the forums from 2015 in which it had been addressed, but in my case it started specifically when the Chaos endgame update was launched and none of the solutions in that thread worked for me.

By chance do you use windows 10? There was an update that added a ton of VPN network drivers that I didn't notice and that completely stopped the game working for me. Once i noticed they were there, i started removing/disabling them 1 by 1 (there were more than 30 of them) and slowly but surely the game started working again.

Also, can i get your system specs and what type of internet connection you have?

I'm not the OP but I do have issues returning to tavern when I'm host and with at least one other player. Solo I have no issues. (Edit: That's a lie. I still have issues solo)


I am on windows 10

Specs:

GTX 1080

i7-7700k

16GB Ram

Running on wireless (If that's what you mean by which internet connection)

I'm not sure if you need any other specs!

Maybe I can get some assistance, too please?

I am on windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Specs:

NVidia GeForce GTX 750Ti

4GB Ram

Hardwired internet connection


my game still plays, but I get those loading errors often (at least 1-2x per 1 hour of play). Where would I find the VPN network drivers that don't need to be there & how would I know which ones to disable?

So when this happened to me at home, I was able to find the network drivers on the Device Manager under the network adapters.  The name of the driver for my network card was easy enough to figure it was pretty tells you the brand name on the driver itself. But there were also about 30 other drivers that were installed and enabled that were all the exact same name. This was a few months ago so I don't remember the exact name of them but they were all the same and something along the lines of "win32 ap......" something something. Just google the name of the drivers installed and it'll tell you what they are.

If you do have a ton of VPN stuff installed, i would disable (not delete) them 1 at a time to see not only if it fixed it but that it didn't stop anything else from working. If so, you can just re-enable it.

Again, this is just what happened to me on my personal machine. This isn't an official fix or anything and I'm not sure this what is effecting you. But I can say the game doesn't handle splitting up parties very well if at the end of a map the players decide to go their own way. This is something we're gonna try to address in a near future restructure of the end of map flow.

I think the 5007 error is "identical game session type error" which normally is fine because if you go from one map to another it is the exact same game session type. Its suppose to be but it freaks out sometimes. If I had to guess this is what you are experiencing as opposed to VPN problems. Most VPN problems will keep the game from even launching as opposed to interrupting you after you're already in.

In this folder (by default): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dungeon Defenders 2\DunDef2\UDKGame\Logs

There should be a series of log files (a new one gets created everytime you start the game with them organized by time stamp) if you guys can post at least the last part of it when this happens to you that would help a lot. Hopefully it'll spit out something useful and common enough to see a pattern.

btw, those of you who posted your system info are fine. Your machines are more than enough for the game. Which means its a network or windows setting somewhere causing conflicts.
