A small collection of changes I´d like & bugs

Hello,

So I´ve ran it a few things that I´d like to talk about:

Changes:

1. I´d like to give the ember pony a little buff sicne it is absolutely not worth farming except for cosmetic purposes in my opinon. Considering there is a seahrse pet in the game that is much easier to farm and in my opinon better makes me sad. I´d like to get the pony a very little bit above the seahorse dps wise. even if only 5 %. Just so it´s worth farming at all.

2. I´d like to have an even higer amount that you put items in your hero shop for. Maybe like 5 or 10B. There is this spot between It´s worth putting in hero shop and it´s worth to much but also to few to auction it. 

3. A Setting that disables Trap effects and maybe even aura movement. I don´t need this myself but I´ve had a few ppl saying they´d like to ahve a lower setting where the traps are not making effects like fire etc.

4. Can we have the moon pet making the playing being in low gravity mode? PLEASE ... kobold.png There is no reason why, it would just be really cool.

5. Please change the dot colour of either the ult+ or ult++. When in survival I never can tell if its a ++ or +. I´d say a really dark black should be used, preferrably for ++´s but overall just a different colour since as it stands right now many people have to look multiple times to be sure.


Bugs:

1 I´ve watched a stream recently where the enemies jsut stopped spwwnign in wave 11/15 at 934 out of ~2k. I´ve never seen that problem before but they said that this is a common problem if people join their game. if you wish for a link I can give you one.

My thoughts:

1. Great idea, they are very similar after all (fire & poison). Maybe just 5% worse than the seahorse though :)

2. Absolutely. Please do this.

3. Great idea. Some maps just lag... And the effects make it hard or annoying to see sometimes.

4. The pet already does that sort of right, makes you jump higher? I haven't actually gotten one yet xD

5. Not sure.


Bug 1: I have had this bug a few times and it's annoying, and well known.

  1. Ideally Ember Pony should've just been a Seahorse re-skin but with Fire Damage and better overall stats. Dunno why that wasn't done. Of all the Ember Ponies i've seen, none of them had the Projectile speed stat, nor do they go over +2 projectiles(could be wrong but I haven't seen one with +4 or +Proj Speed). Also, its a shame that the Fenix can't be used yet, otherwise it would be nice to see the numbers for that. But from what I've heard from people who tried it for a small time is that its basically like a Fire-Dragon, which again is a bummer. I'd like the Fenix changed to Fire-Damage Ranged + Generic Damage Melee pet, so that it kind of captures the way the Ember Boss attacks -- fireballs + Dive/Stomp(kind of a melee attack).

  2. Been wanting to put stuff for more than 2b since forever, now that Bank Mana Limit is increased, it shouldn't be an issue(I hope) to have this. But I have a feeling that the store-pricing is somewhat limited to the maximum cost you can vendor an item at, i.e. 2b.

  3. Again, good point. It would be nice to have the Aura and Trap effects disabled once they are placed down. Mainly I'd want this to happen is so that I can properly see the items that drop on the maps. Most survivals I play it just hard to see what the hell has dropped unless I put my face into the screen. Even with Low Settings and Post-processing turned off its hard to see. 
    What I can suggest is have an option that disables the visual effect of Traps and Auras entirely and just shows a radius limit with a circle and at the center the aura/trap icon. Anything in between the center icon and the radius limit notifier like the aura-effect & trap color/detonation effect can be disabled from settings.

  4. Dunno what do you mean by that? But the Moon pet lets you jump at the same gravity as that of Moon Base(correct me if I'm wrong).

Few other things I'd like to add to this is -- (most are QoL changes/suggestions)

  1. When placing towers, the "RANGE & DIRECTION" indicator color is too dull, especially if you are placing towers over Traps & Auras and such. Same with Jester's Move Tower, the current color is "light yellow", instead of that it would be nice to have some kind of bright fluorescent border at the range & direction limit. (I'll re-update this with a visual in case explaining this in text is hard).

  2. When Selecting a Survival, you can't hold down on the Wave Number increase(up) & decrease(down) arrows, and you have to spam the left click to change the wave number. This should be tweaked so that holding the left click on either of the up or down arrows changes the wave numbers quickly. The hero join level limit can be changed by holding down the arrows, so this shouldn't be hard to implement.

  3. Add a button named "Set Items Price" in Hero Shop so that anytime you select a folder and press this button and enter a price, any and all items inside that particular folder are assigned with the price you entered. This will save so much time rather than individually setting prices for items. (This suggestion was originally made by user -- butterflyboy in the other thread, but it didn't get looked at).

  4. Increase the Item-Quality Particle Beam vertical size + brightness(especially for Ult), some weapons can spawn with big sizes, and can go above the Particle Beam height which makes it near impossible to figure out what weapon is a Ult/+/++ or Sup or Trans, etc. especially in a weapon pile-up inside auras or on-top of traps, or both.

  5. Item locks work in a weird way, any time you equip an item that wasn't locked, will stay as unlocked and there are chances of it being accidentally sold. What I'd suggest is -- anytime you equip an item it automatically gets a lock if it doesn't already have it.
    Also any-time you pick a dropped item from a map, they get a lock as well, floor items already have this, so it shouldn't be hard to implement. Also removing items from shop get a lock on them as well by default. This helps with accidentally selling stuff.

Yes, the Moon pet already lowers gravity, but it's a very subtle effect.  In fact, it's so subtle that the first time I equipped it, I didn't think it did anything!  But if you actually test it, one moon lets you jump slightly higher, and two moons (on summoner) let you jump a little bit higher than that.

I'd like it if the Moon pet decreased gravity a bit more than it does now.

  4. As already mentioned, that's almost exactly what it does. I say "almost" because it can't behave exactly same way as the moon gravity. The current level of effect is effectively a 20% decrease per moon (36% with 2 moons). For reference, moonbase is only a 30% decrease (a moon on moonbase is 44% less than normal)

    The range indicator only gets brighter as it reaches to the end. And its a nightmare to properly see if you are placing on Traps/Auras.
    Maybe add a slightly thicker and brighter border at the range/direction indicator like what I have in the images below.

    > Yes, any item regardless of how it was added to the item box gets a lock by default. Basically most of the ways through which you can get items -- Trading, Rewards, Tavern Pickups are by default locked. This only doesn't apply to map pickups. While there is a lock all button, most just forget using it while swapping weapons in and out or moving them to folders etc., which happens a lot. Also, directly equipping items from Tavern Floor / Maps doesn't lock them either so if you equip that event item from tavern floor and put it in the item box, it won't have a lock and is vulnerable to be accidentally sold.
    It's just a small thing that can make a fine difference.
    So a TL;DR for item-locks:
    -- Have map pickups be locked by default, similar to how reward drops work.
    -- Have directly equipping non-locked weapons either from item box or maps or tavern have a lock put on them, for safety.
    -- Better safe than sorry! :D

1. Agree to poet... do not add stronger pets regardless of the maps difficulty. Especially when we remember that Ember has been added to be a challenge rather than a 'next' progression step. The Seahorse is top-end... considering the DPS of all other pets (excluding Lab Dragon and Chicken) most likely unintended. The Seahorse is still a better choice for many heroes when we just talk about single-target DPS, not even mentioning The Cavalry.

Whatever, both ponies (Ember and Assault Pack one) should receive a buff on NM... The assault pony does not even has a NM multiplier.


2. No thanks... I can imagine that Sup/Ult pieces will be priced at highest possible value just because it is Sup/Ult. Of course everyone has the choice to not purchase an overpriced item but especially beginners will struggle hard with such a change, wondering how in the hell someone can pay such absurd high prices for a single item while they earn barely any mana.

Its not too long ago, that you could easily spot some mana hackers here at the forums...


3. Good idea... but also Fireball Towers are extremely eye-bleeding with their very bright projectiles. At least FB doesn't shoot during build phases while effects from Traps lasts, making it hard to spot certain items.


4. A little lower gravity than current would be nice. Currently its barely noticeable, on the other hand, low gravity probably 'breaks' some maps (not considering Portal gun and Summoner already can perform weird things).

8. Adds the risk to price items you actually didn't want to sell... IIRC Acen had a script for that in his beginner guide or automated dd guide on steam. However, not even sure if its worth coding as in their will be just a few lab runners who would use it... mainly.


9. Please not even bigger particle beams, instead I would like to colorize the 'yellow' circle underneath items. This way you also have a higher distinction between Trans/U++ and U+/++ since these colors doesn't have an alpha level they should be way more visible.


10. Can not confirm that. Never had weird item lock situations. Pay more attention when selling all -.- The better safe than sorry does not apply here... and does quick selling way more time consuming... I usually play a few maps collecting items... locking manually what I want to keep, playing more maps and at the end of the session I just sell all once... I don't want to look through items over and over again.... just because some people can't deal with sell all -.- They also cannot deal with unlock/lock all buttons...

So, yay do not touch it...

1. I don´t mind how it should be reworked, but it needs a buff. If it stays at 3 or increased to 6 projectiles. I just want it to have an equal dps to the seahorse or a little above that. Or a stat increase over the seahorse if the dps is a very little lower. Aternatively you could just increase the spaw quality, so that it is possible to get supreme or maybe even ult ones. Even tho I like an overall buff better than the quality increase. And yea fenix would be cool. 

I love the ember pony, and I´d absolutely love to have a viable one.

3. I´d like that because ppl with bad computers and also people who paly with emulator, so basically everyone here, have like (in my case) 16 frames in a survival which is just to low.

3. I´m talking maily all traps. In terms of auras i`m talking about the rotation inside and outside of the aura. The Ball that is the overall "aura" shouldn´t turn/be animated, just a texture ball over the aura center. And the inside "tentacles" sould either be removed or also stop spining/moving and be a solid 3d Modell that isn´t transforing.

1. Well I also don´t want to have a next progression step but even the chicken outdamages the seahorse. By far. As things are standing now nobody will even consider farming an ember pony as a dps over a chicken or a seahorse. I only want it to be equaly as good as a seahorse. I don´t really care how it´s being buffed, even a nm boost would be fine if it makes it alittle stronger.

2. I know that mana hacking is a thing but it is already and they won´t stop if we don´t change anything. And the problem is I don´t want to upload 50 or more pictures to post them inforums to sell them for a coal or 2 jsut because I cannot place them in manashop because it´s way to cheap in there. And who cares if people overprice their supreme or ult times in manashop? If they are to expensive the will just not get bought even if they are new players. Nobody will open a manshop if they have less than like a hundred hours because they first of all won´t have farmed that many items, and they also don´t bother about their manabank sine they can just progress trough the game. Maybe it´s only me but I never saw someone with less than 100h selling some legendairy items for 5.000 mana each piece.

1. Despite the belief of many, a Chicken is not always better than a Seahorse. It's a case scenario and depends on your style to play the game. The Seahorse is often a better a choice than a Chicken, especially with lower stats and/or fighting single enemies such as bosses. Hence why Ember pony should not outperform the Seahorse. The goal is to not encourage hacking even more than it already is with very hacker friendly changes recently.

Comparing high-end pets, actually Cat vs shooting pet... the pet in the 3rd column mirrors the pet with the highest DPS. So as you see a Seahorse (21.7k Base) is often a better choice than a Chicken (37.7k Base) considering single target damage. Needless to say Dragon and Chicken are better for regular combat phase when fighting several Ogres at once but we actually don't have to fight them with our high-end gear ;)

2. If you see item pricing of 10b or more it does encourage hacking in my opinion because people will say that they cannot earn that much mana on a legit way. I don't know why you would have an issue to upload a picture when you are selling actually a good piece. If you are just aiming for a coal or a cube you could use the floor such as people do right now. Hence why I requested to be able to sell an item for one Coal or Cube. Mana to Coal rate is beyond good and evil considering the easiness farming Coals versus Mana...

  • *If* folder pricing was added, my opinion would be that it only applies to the direct folder and not sub folders which would make any chance of a "mistake" quite a bit lower. If you can still mess that up...
  • Should durational traps be forced to expire on the transition from combat to build phase?  ( not the reverse!! )
  • Item locks are being looked at. Personally I'm not a fan of locking new floor pickups as it clearly identifies them as such and they are the most likely to be sold. Everything else I wouldn't mind locking by default (majority is already this way, there's just 1 exception).

I hate the FB vfx. It really irks me that we still haven't done anything about that eyesore (other than the option to make it not murder fps as well as your eyes)

Hmm, yay, true :) probably light green and a darker green for 'low quality' upgrades?

About Ember Pony.
Pew -- I don't see why the Ember Pony shouldn't be buffed or made as at least a Seahorse re-skin but with better stats and higher quality possibly. its not like you are breaking progression by buffing it. Hardly 2-3% of the playerbase can farm Embermount Campaign, let alone Survival. Its a top-end map, and its only obvious that the pets should be top-end.
I don't really care if a Chicken out damages the Seahorse or vice-versa, it's not the point.
Point is -- a new pet is added, heck 3 new pets are added, and 2 of them are nowhere near worthwhile to be used for the difficulty that map poses. Fenix is bugged as hell, can't even use it, Animorphic Ember is good but takes a crap ton of effort to get till last wave.
Ember Pony doesn't have more than 3 projectiles nor does it have projectile speed from what I've experienced. Why should anyone use that pet? What was even the point of adding it if its going to be crappier than the existing ones? Just for looks?


About afk-shop mana price increase.
Now if people are hacking mana, who gives a damn? We know how much hacked stuff is there in the game, and mana is the least of it, and it doesn't make sense to handicap ourself from making changes/progressing becasue of hackers.

Why should i or anyone be forced to try and sell stuff via floor shop(which hardly works out) or constantly upload pictures and make posts only to have them get buried into oblivion becasue no-one here is interested in anything that's not Ult++ or event items.
I've been forced to sell plenty of decent sup/ult armors/weps/pets for 2b becasue of ZERO traction on forums or no luck from floor shop. Floor Shops are dead as hell, and so is the market for pretty much anything that's not Ult++.
If people are allowed to sell items for whatever mana price from AFK shop, why are you having an issue with that? What's the problem if someone wants to sell stuff for Mana and not coal/cube/etc.? I'd like to sell some things for more than 2b but less than 2 coals in mana, but for that making a forum post or hosting a damn floor shop and endlessly waiting and asking people if they wanna buy it is just crazy when I can simply put that thing in my afk-shop and set a price that I feel is fair and be done with it. Dunno why you are against increasing max price listing in afk-shop, especially if your opposition to this is based on that fact that people might overprice their items, let them do that? Who cares? Is there a rule book that says XYZ item shouldn't be over ABC price? Its a free market, people will price their items for whatever their like and should be given a liberty to do so. Doesn't make much sense to me why this shouldn't already be a feature, apart from any technical limitations of course.

About setting a price for all items via the folder.
I don't understand why you would be making a mistake while pricing? I have two separate root folders in my afk-shop one for storage and one for actual sales. Anything that is a collectible/storage-worthy goes in the storage folder and anything else goes in the shop folder. How is there any chance of mistake in there? Most people do this.
Although sub-folder items not getting a price does seem to be a bit better idea in general, or maybe we can have a toggle-able tick-mark that allows pricing of all the items in a folder + its sub-folders and so on, best of both worlds.
I have my shop perfectly organized with item type / map name / etc. there are certain items that regardless of stats or quality I sell at a fixed price(Cupids, Djinnlets, Rainbow Unicorns, Trans Armors, Myth/Trans Weapons, non-WW/ToL/Palantir/GTH2/PirateInvasion accs) no matter what, and most of these are arranged in separate folder as per the item. So if this feature is added -- then I can just toggle the tick-mark that would allow sub-folders and their items to be assigned a price as well and just set the fixed price I had in mind. And if I don't want that, I'll just un-tick the button, nice and simple.

About item pickups.
Well if you picked up something from the map floor, ideally you would want it, why else did you picked it up if you didn't want it? And if you are equipping something it should most certainly get a lock since that prevents accidental selling of items should you un-equip it some time later and forget that it didn't had a lock. Happens a lot from equipping items on Tavern Floor becasue people assume it had a lock since if you directly put it in your item-box from tavern-floor it gets a lock. So it is confusing to a lot of people.
Pew -- Yes, one should take care about items and make sure they are locked etc. but does that mean you shouldn't make item-safety improvements?!?!?! If you travel from a car it is common sense that you should not pop your head out of the window completely. But does that mean that car manufacturers shouldn't add a window lock to prevent someone from doing that?

1/2/4) Not being ignored, just no comment to make
3) Trap fx shutdown on entry to build phase added for testing. Ideas for auras are being tossed around
5) Forgot to mention, but that's actually a bug that has been fixed. They are the same colour on the minimap for an unknown reason (The fix was just to change the colour value very slightly and then it magically works...)

9) The idea to change the colour of the circle is going to require modifying every single item making it somewhat of a pain to do -.- (I am currently very annoyed about this since I really liked the idea)
10) Inconsistencies with receiving items from somewhere other than the floor are gone (all auto lock). Floor items remain as they are

I'd like to sell some things for more than 2b but less than 2 coals in mana, but for that making a forum post or hosting a damn floor shop and endlessly waiting and asking people if they wanna buy it is just crazy when I can simply put that thing in my afk-shop and set a price that I feel is fair and be done with it. Dunno why you are against increasing max price listing in afk-shop, especially if your opposition to this is based on that fact that people might overprice their items, let them do that? Who cares? Is there a rule book that says XYZ item shouldn't be over ABC price? Its a free market, people will price their items for whatever their like and should be given a liberty to do so. Doesn't make much sense to me why this shouldn't already be a feature, apart from any technical limitations of course.

I don't agree with items being removed from AFK Shop entering Item Box locked.  Coming in unlocked is a simple way to see which items are from the AFK shop.  Any a simple "Lock All" performed afterwards would alleviate any issue.

Yea, I can agree on afk-shop items not getting a lock if removed from the shop, and same with the game-map pickups. And even in a case where you removed an item from AFK shop, and equipped it, it will get a lock(assuming this is now implemented) so its not much of a big concern. Mainly its about equipping items and forgetting that they didn't have locks on them, that's where it gets a bit dangerous.

Not easily, the minimap code is based on the item's Quality, and Ultimate, Ultimate+ and Ultimate++ are all Quality 16.

There's no reason that I can see, however, why the colour shouldn't be made darker for anything not considered an upgrade - that's calculated and used for Godly or lower, but the calc is thrown away for Myth and above - it wouldn't be hard to have a slightly darker colour or a circle instead of a filled dot for non-upgrades.
