CDT UPDATE 3 : Tavern Expansion Discussion

The new Tavern layout, stays as truthful to the original tavern space as it can while improving its floor space and then some.  The lower floor got a few unit expansion outwards while the upper floor.. is brand new.  The CDT would love to hear your thoughts and ideas for this new space. 

 A few features the new floor brings is:
-A handful of eager Combat Dummies
-Room for more Trophies for the new CDT content (MORE ACHIEVEMENTS, YAY?)
-Ample floor space for shops and trading
- Possible space for Mini-games
- A New Unique Mystery Forge!
- Space to lounge with friends

 If you have (realistic) ideas for mini games or even critique about the new expansion we'd like to hear about it, but please be concise and polite.

I really like the idea of having more space in the tavern since the new trophies are cool and more achievements the better. i think that more space would be useful for hosting shops since it allows me to make different areas have different types of items like a leather area that is semi separate from the for example mail armor. It also helps on cutting down the clutter that the new loot beam add to the tavern. (i love them but in the tavern they do make a bit of a clutter). Now for the questions i have on the tavern.

1. Does this make the cap for items in it higher or does it stay at 100 (i think it is 100)

But yes i think that the tavern keeper would have the mana after 5 years to expand his tavern to accommodate more awards :)

Wow!  I love the idea of a bigger tavern.  And the pics look terrific!  


As mentioned above, hopefully the tavern floor item limit would increase.


Another idea (not sure how hard to implement this would be) would be to have a special room where people could display their super valuable items (Ult++, rare event items etc).  Tavern guests could enter this room but only after a specific action by the host.  So for example, you could be running an open shop and one of your buds drops in.  You click on him and grant him special access and then he can enter the special room but the other pubs can't get in.

Something like this would also be cool. What I had in mind was some sort of display room, another room only the host can enter, but this one has a window so that everyone can see what's on display! It could even have actual display cases or a counter top or something to put all your nice loot.

I just wanted to say, awesome update guys! I'm glad to see the progress of the new and improved Dungeon Defenders!!


I also wanted to say, I noticed the boost stat and boost range stat on the Propeller Cat reads:


Damage Boost: Clip Ammo

Boost Range: Reload Speed Bonus

Extra number of heroes boosted: Additional Projectiles (this may be sufficient, but seems odd nonetheless)

this is easily the best update as of yet ( for me personally) i have always loved certain items but with the item limit / small amount of space i was never able to have everything i wanted in my tavern .


i know many people have been looking forward to something like this and will be very happy i'm sure :D

It's worth noting, the Holiday themes can / will be making a come-back as well as a few other tavern themes, if they're desired,  and will be chooseable at the players whims upon the Tavern loading.

Themes may  include but not limited to:
Easter
4th of July
Halloween
Thanks Giving
Christmas

Potential Alternative themes:
Fire / Pheonix
Water / Aquanos
Spooky Woods
Deep Crystal Caverns
That's no Moon Base

 Just keep in mind this will be an experimental thing if it gets to the beta, as creating these themes can potentially increase the loading time for the Tavern, and we'd all like to avoid that as much as we can.

I think that players should spawn there when the lobby allows for more than 4 players. Just thought it would be better so there's less people jammed in one area.

Wow major progress for CDT about the tavern expansion. Good to know that CDT is working on the original tavern. Loving the ideas about increasing the tavern space for more item displays. How about increasing the grab distance for items. *Eg. Being able to grab item which is bug through inside the wall/window. Maybe add an immersive enchanting table to the tavern which will work for forging items and keeping the original theme.

Not sure if this relates to this discussion, i think it does though, but i have noticed that its still a major pain to drop items straight in front of you on the tavern floor. If there is a way to make an item drop right where you are looking, i would love that to be a thing. Currently i have a long spiraly (totally a word) line of ult+ armors and core drops like obs and moonbase rewards and i would love to make it straighter and better looking. Thanks :)
