Increasing pet affection

It takes how many waves to gain a level now?  I had a pet at level 24, not sure how far along.  I did two challenges to complete some dailies - 10 waves in total.  Afterwards the pet was still level 24, with about two thirds completed.

Meanwhile I accumulate heaps and heaps of pet food, because my pets are already at maximum power level (for their current evolution step).  Why is the purchaseable basic pet food still even there?

Pet affection boosters do help, but I can't buy them at the moment all of my medals are allocated towards gun witch (about 1800 missing, so I'll get her in a few days).

I think nobody knows at this point. It's so messed up the amount of waves you have to play to max a pet without boosters that nobody even does it anymore. My guess would be like 16, as I only level pets when I'm leveling heroes as well and I get like 8 levels in the pet per hero leveled from 1 to 50 in harbinger... which is 1 freaking booster.

Personally, I've noticed the levels right before you can evolve them (pet affection levels 24, 44, & 59) need more waves to gain the 1 affection level than the previous affection levels (so, pet affection levels 23, 43, & 58). I could be wrong, but this is what I've noticed during my playtime

11-60 is correct. 0 to 10 is 6.

Use Pet Candy to gain levels quickly as you get about 8-10 levels off the candy you buy for medals. But if you are near maxed for that tier, finish it off with in-game rounds of Onslaught. You don't want to waste 250 Medals on a candy that will only add 1 pet level, do you?

I am not a fan of using Harbinger because you have to reload the game after every attempt and you only count for 3 waves. Plus, you still need to build SOME defenses if your DPS isn't good enough to quickly thrash him. Also, it's boring to constantly repeat it.

If it's 12 waves, then how come 10 waves only resulted in two thirds of a level?  It probably didn't even start from empty.

Be it 12 or 16, doesn't matter. You're better off just doing normal maps and buying boosters than leveling pets by yourself if you ask me. Or you can do both, as you might be doing already.

Some people just use boosters cus it's not so painful as spamming harbingers to level them :)

I'll use boosters once I have some free medals.  As I said, at the moment all of my medals are allocated towards unlocking gun witch.  It won't be much longer till I have her.

Crap, good luck leveling that pet then if you decide not to wait for those extra medals :D
