Boycott the Huntress

Recommended Posts

Are the characters suppozed to be children? I figured the other set was their parents (By the "Mom's bow" for example) but none of them look child-like. Late teens to early 20s on all of them.

Also...pedophile fantasies? I'm not sure I would have thought of that...ever... I just don't think about that stuff I guess.

I always assumed the character's minature appearances were part of the art style, rather than them being litterally children. They look more like teenagers to me. Me and my friend had a good giggle at the Huntresses butt crack when the game came out.

It's hard to know what is worse, the over-sexualization in the gaming industry or the over-protective parents who complain about everything.

As a woman and an avid fan of roleplaying games with fantasy settings, I've come to accept that my female characters will almost always be scantily clad. It will not surprise me in the least if the female version of the Squire is wearing a metal bikini.

To be fair almost all male chars in the gaming world are usually half naked too they just don't have the lustrous and most desirable sight quality's a female char can portray. A male can be stripped down to nothing but boxers (GO SQUIRE HE AT LEAST GOT CLASS AND HAS ARMOUR haha) and no one will think twice about it, due to the simple fact is ok guy in boxers bout the same as guy in swim trunks. Female she HAS the body to show off and be tweaked to look amazing. So it's just a simple fact of they can be and males can only look basic(in terms of design and things to portray) in comparison to ANY female model. Females have the most customization capabilities.
I love spell check

The proportions of them make them seem younger - comparing the size of their heads to the rest of their bodies. The proportions in this way are called chibi (least in japanese animation), and can be of varying relativity.

I've thought of them being pre-teens at most. Their speech tones don't give the impression of being older than that to me.

Not like age ever restricted scary fan-art/fan-fiction of stuff anyway...

They're about half the size of the tavernkeeper though which, to me, puts them at < 10. I think that's when I could finally see eye to stomach with my elders anyway...

Heroes under 10 who have taken a vow of silence, can wear plate armor, have mastered the arcane, and are developed?

Everything besides their height makes them seem older. Only the Monk's head is even chibi sized. The rest are fairly normal.

Exactly, which is why I don't care for the OP's complaints. Nothing makes sense in first place. Problem solved, now I'm only here to socialize. :P

I think this guy was serious. I guess he doesn't realize that not everyone thinks sexually of animated characters, and maybe he should look inward to solve his issue.

On a side note, these characters are all trying to prove themselves as adults to be respected in each of their fields, just listen to the story.

And if it was a "tavern" it would probably be okay since its only recent that kids didn't commonly drink alcohol and even today its a common pratice in many countries. ;)

Yup, like many things alcohol is not unhealthy in moderation.

Selling captured mythical creatures and magical weapons of "Godly" power to children isn't the safest business practice however. Nor is allowing children to build turrets that shoot fire in your wooden building.

Next huntress outfit.

Then we'd get posts about racism, instead - demanding we remove her ability to place proxy traps.

Rofl, oh god this thread is busting my gut from beginning to end.

I picked Huntress cause she was a semi sexy elf, I say semi because her pixels are mad ugly. It's like an attempt at sexy gone wrong, but just the notion of a (young?) elvish woman is tempting. However, we all know elves are, like, immortal. So...

Ponies.

I live in Sweden, and here drawn and (cartoon) animated "child pornography" is considered illegal (morals gone wickedly wrong, if you ask me). It would not surprise me if the sexiness of the huntress "child" (drawn chibi elf thingie) would result in some kind of ban here, just like happened with Dead or Alive (you know the game with plastic dolls having breasts roughly the size of their heads).

The huntress would be illegal (in Sweden) if she:

1. is portrayed as a child (or looks like one - it does not matter how old elves/vampires/demons are) below the age of 18.
2. is depicted in a way that can be considered in any way sexual (clothes or no clothes does not matter).

Personally I shake my head at this moral "development". As long as noone can be considered a victim, pictures, movies and animation should remain free to own and distribute without limitations.

One thing can be bothering me about the huntress, though, is that her original outfit seems clearly designed to sexualise her in a kind of ****ty way (butt crack showing and a severely undersized top).

There are dozens of ways to make a preteen look sexy or at least pretty to look at without resorting to over exposing body parts, so I can't see why Trendy decided to go this path with the design.

First, I like Dungeon Defenders a lot. In fact, I like it so much, I bought two copies so that I could play it with my wife and son.

Unfortunately, there is one glaring problem that I find with the game: the Huntress.

I find the Huntress character disturbing. At best, the developer's depiction of "youngling" girl in a fantasy world is juvenile and irresponsible at best. As if the accentuated cleavage, and the exposed butt crack aren't in your face enough, when you select her character, the animation starts with wiggling her rear end at you in a manner that seems very "adult".

I hope I can assume that it was not Trendy Entertainment's intention, but it looks like someone was trying to fulfill some pedophelia fantasy. It is bad enough that artitsts do this to adult characters, but turning a child (boy or girl) into some kind of jailbait sex object is going way over the line.

Trendy Entertainment, I respectfully request that you fix the huntress. Make her clothes less revealing and more appropriate for her age. Remove animations that are innapropriate (such as the aformentioned tail wagging).

Fellow gamers, if you, like me, are tired of developers turning women (kids or adults) into sex objects, please boycott the Huntress until Trendy does something about it.
- Stop playing the Huntress character.
- Add "boycott Huntress" or something similar to your hosted game titles.
- Respectfully ask users who join your game as a huntress to change their class or leave.

Until Trendy Entertainment fixes the Huntress and stops creating characters who look and act like they are trying to feed child molesters' fantasies, I will be boycotting the Huntress. Please do the same.

I don't know what's wrong with you but if you let kids view those toons they keep telling me how funny they look or how very much cool they are. A kid NEVER would think about such things unless at a certain age and mostly through other kids.

I keep wondering how borred some people have to be to be giving a dime about such stuff. Heck..most of us "just play" a game and it doesn't mean jack to us how a toon looks like.

Like i said it doesn't matter to kids and if some adult starts to adore his "unreal" toons on screen then i don't care. It's not that some real kids have been dressed up that way or whatever.

Your opinion is very weak because if you go this way you also could say "OH god...we are killing in this game" or whatever.

And if you have eyes in your head you will be able to see that most kiddy girls dress worse than the huntress in the game. If you missed this part in life or are hidden somewhere in an amish paradise. (No offense but this is a valid conclusion to such viewing points).

I urge all here to boycott YOU and not the game that is perfect as it is and is creative, funny and challenging in every way.

I'm not sure there's any way to make a preteen look sexy to anyone except a pedophile. Considering that's the definition.

This thread: People who are offended by the way the huntress dresses obviously think of it as dressing sexually. Therefor they are pedophiles.

This post requires at least 50 lines to prove wrong.

I seriously hope something was lost in translation.

And Dead or Alive was gratuitous. The Huntress is satirical. All of the Heroes are satires of popular fantasy. I also don't understand the logic in believing that something can be both a child and sexy/****ty. Maybe I'm just not (enough of) a pervert.

You lost the "...or at least pretty" there - preteens can be pretty, can't they? Or at least cute...

I should have added "in a fantasy setting" somewhere. Just like kids with weapons can be cool in a fantasy setting while in the real world it's not desirable, kids looking sexy (in a non ****ty way, if you prefer it) can be ok in that same fantasy setting while in real life we consider it troublesome or even outrageous.

Sexiness is only partly bound to the development of the body. Clothing, poses, facial expressions etc. can be sexual as well, and you can't really say that a young girl is incapable of striking a sexy pose just because she has not reached a certain age. You can claim that the behaviour might be wrong, but it is still appealing to sexual desires. It does not have to mean that the behaviour appeals to your personal taste, but you can probably still identify what you see as sexy (at least to someone).

What I am trying to say is that you do not have to be a pervert to identify sexiness in children. You just have to be somewhat broad minded.

You have a point about the difference between the DD heroes and the DoA girls, though.

Yeah, only there is literally nothing about children that I have ever found to be "appealing to sexual desires." Again, maybe we think differently but children and sexuality are simply mutually exclusive in my mind.

The huntress is a pedophile sent to steal the virginity of the other 3 hero boys.
Thats what the expansion pack is going to be about.
