What would make this game much better for the community would be....

Recommended Posts

A general chat. General chats are awesome in these online only games. So while we are actually playing the game we can chat with other's that are playing the game. This would make it much better for when you want to just relax and do easy things for dailies or what ever.

General chat:

Player132: ***got!

Player4327: I'm an navy seal I know were you live *blah blah bleh*

Player326: Vote Trump!

Player563: Shoot yourself ***got

Player132: ***got!

Player348: I slept with ur mom son

Ya no, we can't have that. Someone could use it to express support for Trump. *shudders*

Less clickbait-y forum titles?

Tongue-in-cheek aside, I wouldn't be against a general chat, but I would much rather other more important features be prioritized.

So because you don't like the option that makes waiting around for some one to queue with, or some one to play the game with, that makes that more entertaining and social, the social hub is one thing but that's not social enough.

And no general chat for example in heroes of the storm isn't all just profanities and other things, people are willing to change the subject and talk about the game, and how to be better at the game, you know general chat things. You can definitly opt out of the chat of your leisure. But honestly if you really think this game would devolve into profanities, you are mistaken. And why did trump make this list, he is better than sanders or Hitlery.

How is that a click bait forum title, the chat that I am discussing Directly focuses on the community. And in my opinion this woud be more important than lets say. Delay the map for a day. Some one wants to join me or I join them that isn't the avalable 20 people in the social hub, sign me up!, Not having to hope for that specific 20 people in my social hub to actually be able to do games with.

The general chat may be a good thing some time later. Once they implement friends- and ignore lists which have been asked for for more than a year.

I would say bundle those things with general chat. why have a friends list when it's really hard to meet people!?

Yes, I've got a great idea, lets give our nuclear launch codes to a giant orange orangutan wearing a muskrat on it's head and see what happens. Smart moneys on it trying to fire the UN.

And Cruz is by far the most resemblant to Hitler.

Gentlemen, politics is the last thing that I want to be discussing on the Dungeon Defenders forum. Let's try keeping things on topic?

To feed the politics trolls or not to feed the politics trolls? That is the question.

As for the title. I find it click-baity because it entices the reader with the promise of importance without actually saying what the thread is about (please note that this is only one set of criteria; there are plenty of other reasons to declare a title click-baity).

A more appropriate title, IMO, would have been along the lines of "Game Needs General Chat" or "Community Would Benefit From General Chat."

At this point, though, you're just debating what approach to matchmaking Trendy could effectively make.  A general chat would work for a smaller playerbase if actively moderated, but has obvious downsides.  But since the core issue is that we're looking for some way to get in games, why not address that with a system explicitly designed to do so?  Like a gamefinder?

I think this would need additional manpower because as a company they woukd need to moderate a chat to make sure there is no problematic content because Trendy as a company would be responsible for the content.

What are you talking about? I'm sure Isom has so much free time on his hands that he would be able to moderate the chat on his own without any help!

As far as I know, Trendy would only be as responsible for the content as they want to be ('*'ing certain words or phrases, responding to abuse reports, etc).

In providing a platform allowing anyone to speak, they can only be held liable for illegal, user-generated content if they fail to properly handle takedown requests (not an issue since content in an in-game chat disappears quickly any way). If this weren't the case, YouTube and a ton of other sites would have died horrible, litigious deaths at the hands of the MPAA and RIAA years ago.

The option to mute/ignore players in chat is the most important right now, IMO. Helps to silence all those ping-spammers and toxic trolls - I literally had to endure a torrent of mud slinging from someone just because I was defending the person he was accusing of wanting to be carried (all because he said "I'm focusing full hero damage"), and his way of arguing was along the lines of "Stop gaming, go back to school" and "Why so salty?" and "u mad bro".

I really like irc and would love a reason to use mIRC again. Sad thing is that it is rather hard (as it seems to me) to have usernames registered. Some time ago we tried to gather on irc for a DD-related chat but most of the people did not like it. I started with irc when we had no other choice than a 56k modem and irc always worked perfectly. To be honest I do not remember how the ignore feature worked in skype.

A lot of people use skype for chats while I really hate skype. ^^
