ragingpunisher 0 Posted March 2, 2016 I would like to see a offline/LAN mode. Why? Because not all of us like to play online. I wish they would allow a local co-op like they are doing with the PS4 but, on the PC. Also I like the idea if I want to play in steam offline mode I can still play DD2. I mean why not have a online character and a offline character if that what it takes. And I am not the only one that would like a offline mode. Nor am I the only one that wants a LAN mode.Or at least give us a Lan mode where we can play with friends and family on the same internet line via Lan. And please before you shoot down my suggestion for offline/Lan saying this is how they make their money they could charge a flat rate for offline mode/LAN. And if you want items that are online buy them and still be able to use them offline. It really sucks that I know the #1 reason people may disagree with me and that is "hackers" well, not everyone is hackers and want to legitimately play the game offline/Lan. I mean when the game is getting patched or is not online wouldn't it be nice to be able to play LAN with your family and friends?Or practice your skills like builds you didn't think of or practice build before you go online with them. Please trendy will you consider this?Trendy Entertainment in a new announcement on the PlayStation Blog. "During this time, some features, like local co-op and controller support, will be ahead of the PC version, but other features and content will be rolling in after they are released on PC."source

Read your post but since you didn't seem to understand the biggest issue with offline mode in games like this I still referenced it. And with potentially being able to trade in future DD2 it should be a concern to all legitimate players. Also there is NOTHING stopping you from playing in a lan like way with private game mode. It puts you in a PRIVATE tavern not back in social tavern thus allowing only friends to join your game.
Fozzie 52 Posted March 2, 2016 Far too niche to be considered mate. In this era of always on internet I doubt it will ever see the light of day.
Woqini 0 Posted March 2, 2016 A big NO from me to LAN/offline play. We live in 2016, unless people live in the outback in Australia, there are internet access everywhere. I don't want to see DD2 hacked to bits.
ragingpunisher 0 Posted March 2, 2016 This guy make a VERY good point. And no one answered him. He brought up some Great points. I 100% agree. At the moment, the offline mode is my preferred style of play. I'm not antisocial, but I like progressing on my own and on my own speed. Especially since I managed to find in even the tiny current playerbase a couple of trolls and griefers. Most players are very helpful and awesome, though. Especially those that started playing way before me and have the ridiculous pre-patch gear.To the actual issue: Offline mode is everything but really offline. Yes, your game isn't streamed from a playverse server, but instead runs on your own machine, but you can't be really offline or otherwise the game won't start.Source

NineO_OSix 0 Posted March 2, 2016 When have servers ever been offline? I played for 700 hours and there was never a time where I wanted to play and was prevented. If there was I was rewarded with gems so no problem. I am so confused do you not have internet or something? I can be in the desert and as long as I have cell phone coverage I can play dd2 with tether so... You keep bringing up dd1 but like it has been said it was made in 2010. It is 2016 right now. I don't see any game that made now have a Lan. Are you asking for a solo mode? Maybe that can be a dlc but trendy clearly wants teamwork right now so there is no solo mode story line.I just don't see how what you are asking for is different than going to a private tavern. There is another reason. DD1 was a pay once game. While DD2 is free to play. In solo mode you can just hack the costumes and pets no need to pay the gems to buy it. Not saying you are a hacker but if that is a possibility there is no way trendy will allow it. They have no way of making money.

ragingpunisher 0 Posted March 2, 2016 It's obvious I have played the wrong kinds of games because I believe every MMO is online only and those get hacked regularly so how does a offline mode make it hackable? look at Final fantasy 11 and 14 online only they have hackers would of warcraft it has hacker guild wars 1 and 2 has hackers so online only keeps hackers away? also when the servers goes down (shut down, most likely years down the road) do you want all the money spent on cash shop items/DLC? you'd lose it all without some way to play a offline mode. Anything can be hacked. Offline mode makes it more appealing for hacking, combined with .... a small company dealing with an ALPHA release game .... it really is so far on the back burner of things (not counting bug fixes, maps, heroes as I'll count those as given) to consider atm. Hell they can't keep promises to PS4 community and you want them to create a whole other layer to the game? For a smaller niche group of players then the PS4 community. Where is the line of realistic viewpoints?

ragingpunisher 0 Posted March 2, 2016 Alhanalemposted:As mentioned in another thread already on the front page of the forum, there isn't currently an offline mode. Eternity does in fact have an offline mode now (with seperate saves) in case you haven't seen it in a while. DD2's development is and has been heavily influenced by feedback so don't be shy about giving it. But for right now, it's not a thing yet. Sorry!Source

EdTheDuck101 0 Posted March 2, 2016 An offline mode is totally counter productive to the F2P model. Why would you buy skins if you're the only one to see them? Also, as was previously stated, offline means saves have to be stored on your PC rather than on the server (Like DD1) which makes it extremely easy to hack/change files and saves. For the massive amount of changes and dev work, I can confidently say we will never see this change, nor should we want it.
ragingpunisher 0 Posted March 2, 2016 I don't see why Trendy couldn't make a patch for those that don't mind paying an additional $25-$30 so they can play the game in offline mode, and if possible being able to import you online character to the offline mode, or make a new character for the offline mode, and restrict any offline saves to offline only, in DD1 ranked is server saved that can be imported to open/offline, but the open/offline saves can not be brought to the ranked/online saves, I'll use this as a example White Knight Chronicles had a online mode with a town you could build on using real money off PSN and I played that for a while then stopped for a year or 2 and when I came back the online service was offline so the money spent on the online items more less went to heck, because now they are usless, sure you can visit the town but your friends cant and the items you got from the online missions was the only way to get the stuff used to upgrade your town and gear, long story short I love this game and would like a way to play it offline during maintenance like the other day around 8 am I tried getting on and the servers was down, and years down the road the servers will be shut down and all the money spent will be nothing but screenshots, apparently I'm the only one on these forums that still plays games years after online service are shut down, heck if I still had a dreamcast and Phantasy Star Online I'd probably be playing that still, and the servers for that game was shut down sometime between Dec. 2002-Feb. 2003 don't remember I was in Military training at the time. donttreadonme2234 0 Posted March 3, 2016 i am beging dd1 ps3 fan. i love that game i am also beging soldier of fortune 1 and 2 game fan i have 3 blade servers at my house to just host some old games back from 1991 and up for online play the games mugh be crapy to you but its awsome to me. i was out of work for 2 years and i played dd1 on ps3 at that time and for 8 hours a day 6 days a week. had a huge saveing s to do it with. then when the servers went down and i paid foe the full game and expansion it was sad trendy could have taken over the server stauts or made it able to lan from one ps3 to the other instead of spening 1k to make i to lane they got cheap in 4 years this game will be offline all the money you spent will go away and the itmes you buy will be deleted. all your game save files gone. trendy will come out with dd3 and ask you for more money. sorry my speeling isnt that great. i loved dd1 i like dd2. i love the dd1 waves going to 15k to 32k in enmies a wave highest here is 1.5k i seen playing with my friends win or lose was awsome the 12 hours it took to win it all. i would rather play offline and with my buddys in the same room oth no internet connection required then with online. to many people get mad to easly and rein the game. he has a great point for offline lan party play. i have done 5 ps3s in one room for gAME PARTys its awsome 7 pcs in a room for lan partys. it dont cost much at all to make it beable to go offline.every company cuts corners to squeze every profit they can to make it rich faster. once they bleed it for ass much ass they can its done. like sof2 one gaming server place bopught the name server for 1k and cost them 15 dollars a month to run it. trendy could have hosted the dd1 name server. for 15 dollars a month thats it noting to it. but they cut corners
chesticles 0 Posted March 3, 2016 Thanks for the suggestion, although I believe TE wanted to stay away from offline play due to DD1. However, possibly they will implement it in the future. That being said, we have a great forum specifically for Suggestions :) [Moved to Suggestions Forum]
