PandynatorDD 0 Posted February 12, 2016 Is it inappropriate to ask in what department of the Studio this was?We flak you with our cannons all the time, but we only do so cause we are passionate about this game and the franchise. We want it to succeed so badly. We want it to be great. We might not see eye to eye, we are nostalgic to our own demise some times. Some times, probably more than some I'm sure we will get a more detailed post in the near future, I hope. Though, the community is shaking right now, and would tremendously want some information of what exactly this means going forward. Best of luck to the remaining team.Hope you all land on your feet and good luck in you'r next endeavor

Woqini 0 Posted February 12, 2016 We made the hard decision that a smaller more focused team would be better able to deliver on our overall goals.I smell disaster down the road. A smaller team than the already small team can hardly get the job done better or faster.
In.Session 0 Posted February 12, 2016 I also don't understand how a smaller team can take the game out of early access. i still feel like the games over a year away.. Unless it was the team they were paying for the mediocre cutscenes everyone skips.I wonder if the guy who sorts out servers/server stability got fired and the people who squash bugs/memory leaks.Would be a bad idea to fire people who can create stuff for the game, they probably need more level designers, animators and some people who make some very nice AI. roboticaust 0 Posted February 12, 2016 I don't think a layoff is the appropriate time to be making negative wisecracks. This is peoples livelihoods here. Kinda disrespectful.

Not respectful to be curious as to what department they were focused on, and what this means going forward.Never asked for anyone's sympathy when I've been laid off in the past, and you do like anyone else, myself included dust yourself off and continue on. I found nothing disrespectful at all in it, and I was genuinely curious. Hell of course it's bad it happened, and it isn't the first time Trendy has experienced it. As someone who is also passionate about the game, the curiosity is warranted. Nobody is asking for who exactly was, and the gritty details involving one or two individuals. I do wish them the best and that they will find a new employment really, but don't overdramatise every bit. It's just the feeling the game has for me. You may have a good connection, but after i got affected too by the nice connection issues this game has to offer, that's how it looks to me.

If it involves more than a couple of bad employees then the game is dead. It's a small studio with one game - less people means less stuff, which means less people, which means death. They should have removed the hero deck when they had the chance. Chappyy 1 Posted February 12, 2016 Well at the expense of sounding harsh and or heartless, I'll say this. It does sound like a small studio who's upper management got to big. There is a serious problem with marketing choices ie charging way to much for items while the player base is still to small. Basically you scared them off I would say. You know the old saying less is more? someone missed the mark on micro transactions. I wrote a whole bunch of other crap but deleted it because we don't know who got layed off. I just hope it wasn't good hard working people so the big boys can keep their pay up.

Back in 2008 when I was working as a machinist and got laid off, countless of us were laid off when the economy took a dip. Didn't hear about a single person in management or up in the office getting hit with a lay off slip. Not really a good thing to compare it to since it is two vastly different companies and such, but usually it's always the case.

Well you know the bright side is with games you can get a lot done with a very small group. I am playing a few games now that are very good and being published by a six person team. Hopefully those people that got layed off can start something awesome.

Not a high-graphics/design title like this one, and not one with a management team like Trendy. You want to talk good games from small studios you are generally looking at something 2d with shared vision that happen to be really good and get really lucky to have a viable vision. That's not Trendy, from everything I've read.

djpatje 0 Posted February 12, 2016 inb4 this game will never leave early access and the game is gonna be canceled just look at this last update it was a big cash grab AGAIN and nothing substantial got added lol so many feed back on what they need to change and they wipe their asses with it .... Woqini 0 Posted February 13, 2016 Trendy, you need to be very open about these layoffs. Players dont invest money in a game, if they feel it could die in a near future. i sincerely hope these layoffs are in the management dep.If the visual guys are fired, i will be pissed. They are the most talented people working at Trendy.

Chappyy 1 Posted February 13, 2016 I read the same thing here at IGN. It all starts to make sense now about why the time line for F2P got pushed up and why the focus was getting things like the scavenger for bags and costume sales going on a more rapid pace. Why almost all the focus has shifted from game mechanics to content that showcases the newest costume or is tied directly to costumes. All of this is only making it worse. If the train wreck that is DD2 doesn't get it's core right and the marketing team doesn't pull their head out of their fourth point of contact with these over priced cosmetics, this ship is gonna sink. Trendy wont get a penny from me as long this game is a boring mess with a hero deck and massively overpriced costumes. I will not pay triple A game prices so my heroes can look different. Xir 0 Posted February 13, 2016 Perhaps with a smaller studio to fund, Trendy can focus more on the content needed and less on the cash grabs.
Balmert 0 Posted February 13, 2016 Yes it's sad but not surprising , i hope this year will be a good year for Trendy and DD2
Woqini 0 Posted February 13, 2016 None of us wants this ship to sink. We love this game, that is why we are still here. The strange design choices in this game has to come from the brass on first floor. Fire them all i say. Hire me, i can get this boat on the right course :)Btw, i blame much of this mess on the F2P model, it should never have been a F2P game.
