So um.... where is everyone?

Recommended Posts

When I was leveling my first character (a dps huntress) I had no problem with just jumping out there and finding other people to play with and relatively quickly progressed her to nm3 after hitting 50. Then slowly was able to get her a bit into nm4 before putting her on hold while I leveled other toons.

That was all fun and good. Then I decided 'well I should make one of each class.'

So I set out on that mission. At first things were fine, while just leveling the characters in freeplay on hard I always had other people to play with and the characters all made it to 50 in a relatively short time just like with my huntress. Then it came time to push them up into the nightmare levels.

Nothing... I've not seen another player in over a week. I progressed everyone as far as I could which depending on which class it is I'm working on is generally nm2/nm3 without any help, but I can't really break them into nm4 now. I admit to wasting a ton of wyvern tokens early on opening lockboxes just because I didn't know any better so the only useful uber I have now is the stickybombs for my huntress. This has proven to be a bit of a limiting factor.

Anyhow the problem I'm having is not so much that as WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYONE!?!?!?!

I can't join anything higher than insane and find other players. I've been solo'ing for a week now because everything I join is empty. I had one other player join a nm2 game with me... a level 43 monk that said he was leveling... that's a different story though.

The title basically covers the jist of all of this though. Where do I find other people doing endgame? NM4 seems completely empty, I would even settle for randoms that can't complete at this point. It's pretty much impossible to do alone at the start because of the huge gap between nm3 and nm4 though. My squire's barriers just don't hold up because he needs better gear and I wind up just playing my huntress to get through a few waves because she's the only one geared.

It's really frustrating all the other problems with the game aside I'm on the verge of just giving up because I can't find anyone to play with and I've hit a progression wall. I would make other characters, but given the way everyone is complaining about the game currency I don't want to spend money right now to open up more hero deck space. Or delete one of the heroes I've been grinding like crazy just to get to this point in the first place.

Yup.

Between Fallout 4 release, a regular Tuesday for League of Legends, and... then the fact that DD2 isn't a good enough game to keep someone like me playing it for longer than ~50 hours...

Yup im pretty much waiting on the loot patch to start playing DD2 again. Not going to grind 100 hours for super rare gear if i can get it easier in a month.

the following reasons

 - release of black ops 3

 - release of fallout 4

 - new ptr to test on HOTS

 - overwatch beta

 - tons of issues on DD2 (some are supposedly getting "resolved", most are shunned by devs, then there's the DLC inventory issue that pushed alot of players away)

Lots of reasons why, unsure why this many posters commenting but hardly responding.

Along with the influx of fancy games coming out, there would also be...

Less players in general. This game with its current state, among other issues, lots of people are no longer playing it. Numbers are down. Some folks are in limbo waiting for it to 'get better', who may return any time from tomorrow to never.

NM4 is endgame endgame. That says enough. Grats on learning that you are at the top, and it is lonely. Some elitists like to puff their chests and say '2eezy'. Mileage may vary. Personally I think that it's fairly steep, and that it's hard for some, not as hard for others. Not worthy of respecting anyone being elitist though. Just a game after all, and anyone can get the same stats eventually.

NM4 has a steep curve.

Going back to said elitists, several nm 4 players simply avoid others and stay solo where it can be easier. Also since elitists are annoyed by people, they prefer it there often enough.

Some are not elitist, they simply just like to play alone. You should consider private instead of quick match if you want it easier.

Also some long term players like myself will not get any upgrades in NM4 and only play NM4 Inc.

That being said the monthly forces you to play maps with secondary objectives so doing my quota of those.

Usually do those maps with my tower DPS crew just to have something different than traps\frosty.

I'm currently only playing to get through the monthly, It's simply not fun playing NM4 with the drop rates as they are now, not to mention how many runs fail early on ( I play publics with randoms )

I'll do my monthly and then wait until the loot dropping is changed probably.

The thing is, the gear progression, is Very slow at best. Currently that's basically what makes me less wanting to play it. The gear curve is way to linear. What's fun about these Diablo like games, at least the loot is being able to play with side grades. Not hunting for what feels like perfect gear, just to progress up to the next difficulty.

In my opinion, this is the main reason why DD2 is boring when you reach endgame:

1. No map specific loot. In DD1 we farmed different maps for different gear. Trying to get that perfect sparus from Akatiti - pawn shot from Kings Game - Eternia weapons from Crystalline.

2. Pets. Again, farming for a monkey on Karathiki - seahorse on Aquanos .....

1. and 2. gave us diversity and a reason for playing different maps. In DD2 it's gates, gates and gates.

3. In DD1 we had Nightmare mode. Onslaught in DD2 is boring as hell.

4. Trading. This is my number 1. 60 % of my playing time in DD1 was socialising in the taverns, meeting new friends, collecting coal, cubes ...

5. Challenges. All those weird challenges in DD1 :) loot was crap, i know - but this was pure fun. Barrrrrrrk, Turkey Hunt :)

6. Where are all those wacky DD1 weapons ? Fun as hell to play around with, negative speed where you could outrun a projectile, Chicken bomber, Depth charge, the list is endless.

7. Unbalanced towers. Traps, frost, walls, traps, frost walls .... repeat.

Player count has been extremely low the last couple of days. After the bag extension release I think a lot of people got upset and went to play fallout 4...

Mate you exactly said what i was thinking since dd2  release and after 180 hours playin , i admit  this game is fun but dd1 is 50 times better then dd2 , like you said there no reason to play other maps or other modes just gates gates gates....i loved that turkey hunt and assault challenge

1. Most not all of those items didn get implemented on release

2.Same as above

3. Cant remeber 100% but dont think nightmare was released right away either

4. Meh Tower Defence not a Trading,  No big deal But everyone has their prefernces.

5.They have challenges not as good but they are there lol.

6. Agreed, Weapons More weapons unique weapons etc But game aint released so cant compare

7. I really miss this I wanna be all powerful once i get the right gear not be running around like a maniac,

Leeching to the top must of been hard.

I don't really get this statement this is exactly what I'm not doing. I know tons of people that hit 50 then immediately start joining nm3 and 4 to gear up. I did proper progression and you call me a leech.
