I dont know if that meets your taste but if you dont care about a language that you dont understand (me neither) then you should try out Juanes, he´s a very very good spanish musicant.

Might aswell try out Owl City and Train.

what about sum41 ?

This isn't an easy request because I don't listen much to this kind of music and I appreciate it more in my language.

I don't know if you'll like this, but being a huge fan of indie/alt rock here are some of my favs :D (and yeah there are some oldies in there)

  • Can't talk about alt rock/post punk without talking about U2 :D if you've never been into them try some of their lesser-known songs, they rock
  • The Cranberries, you know zombies but if you dig a bit you may like some songs :D

If you want more just tell me but you have some pretty nice things there :D Also, not indie or alt but i really like Scorpions :D

Cloud Nothings: Attack on Memory, 2012 (Here and Nowhere Else, 2014, also pretty good)

Against Me!: As the Eternal Cowboy, 2003.  (I hate their later albums, but their first couple were great)

Rise Against: Revolutions Per Minute, 2003

Alkaline Trio: G*D*T 1998.  You probably know the band.  I think this is by far their greatest work

Bad Religion: All Ages (compilation), 1995.  Not anti religious, more like some classic punk that critiques society.  Fun fact: lead singer and songwriter has a PhD in Zoology and Master's in Geology.

If you're willing to venture out from that genre at all, some personal favorites are Silent Shout by The Knife, Fever Ray's self titled album (same singer as the knife), Titus Andronicus: Local Business, Modest Mouse: the Lonesome Crowded West, and Yeasayer's All Hour Cymbals, as well as Fragrant World.  Oh yeah also anything by Lucero.

EDIT:  I guess I should also mention Ween, since they are easily the band I've listened to the most.  You'll figure out quickly enough whether they are for you or not.  The albums I've had on rotation are Chocolate and Cheese (1994), The Mollusk (1997), White Pepper (2000), and Quebec (2003).

Also   Norville Rogers:  thanks for the tallest man suggestion, definitely something I'll be looking into

EDIT 2 (yeah I'm bored):

hopefully someone out there likes this Radiohead video as much as me, essentially old tech hardware trying their best to act as speakers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmfHHLfbjNQ.  To great effect, I may add

Smash by The Offspring is a CD I kind of grew up with. ^^ I still love it.

I am also glad there are still people who know The Offspring. Sometimes it seems as if nobody would know them anymore. :-(

Actually I intended to recommend you 'The more the merrier' or 'A bottle a day' by Fiddler's Green... but whe entering their name at youtube I found a new song ... and now I really love it.

Thanks for this topic, it drew my attention to something I should have already known :-D

this

[[54533,users]] Awesome suggestion. Maybe you know some more bands who sound like that...? I have tried some other Silverchair songs but I haven't found anything else I really like. (except for freak and anthem for the year 2000)

[[12589,users]] Like that... i'm not sure, maybe i'll remember something later. Probable this song of Silverchair is an exception, becourse i like only this song too.

I could recommend something from Swedish metal, but I afraid it will seem quite hard for fans of Bieber :)
