Premium Pets (Loot & Survive)

  • Added new premium pets!

    • Get Katkarot, Shinobi Kitty and Table Flip Demon by collecting a Gato or Creeper egg and transforming them into a premium egg! These premium pets will roll at the same rarity with the same stats as it would have with a standard egg, only this time your pet will look dope. (Repeated for maximum readage.)

    • For those of you asking for premium pets to be more powerful than normal pets… um… just no.

    • These pets, along with token (Betsy) pets, will evolve visually. 

How do you feel about these changes, Defenders?

I don't have enough data to provide a complete feedback on pets, since they take a while to hatch, but I really DISLIKED the way premium pets work, Paying USD 2.50 for a random quality pet sucks. I got 2 premium, but if the system stays as it is now, I won't be getting a 3rd, since it seems VERY costly to get premium pets in legendary rarity.

Possible solutions:

1) To know exactly (or almost) what rarity we will get from the egg before hatching. The eggs themselves could have a rarity, so hatching a Legendary egg would have 100% chance of a legendary pet, a Mythical Egg 80% chance of hatching a Mythical pet and 20% of a Legendary pet and so on. If that happened, I would try to collect 100% of the pets in game in legendary form. Would certainly premium all or almost all my Legendary eggs.

2) Be able to "switch" rarities between pets. Place 2 pets in the blender. Pet #1 is upgraded to pet's #2 rarity. Pet #2 vanishes.

3) Be able to upgrade a pet rarity. You get a (crappy) powerful pet. Use "epic" reagent to upgrade it to epic. Mythical reagent upgrade an epic pet to Mythical. Well, you got it. If you wish you could add a XP/feed bar to this to make it harder. Should work for any pet, even non-premium. 

Bottom line is: we need to have a way to make ANY premium pet a legendary one. I'm not paying $2.50 for a low tier premium pet. Would pay $5-10 for each max tier pet, but certainly not gambling for skins as it is. Please: I'm not proposing a p2w solution. Only want a way to a) premium after knowing its rarity; or b) being able to upgrade pets rarity.

The relative power difference between pet rarities needs to be better communicated. If the pet rarity is simply just an indication of the likelihood of that pet coming out of the egg and not of its relative power then let us know. If the pet rarity is also an indicator of power then it needs to be unambiguously communicated in game. I say this because I've gotten "powerful," "epic" and "Mythical" pets now and I honestly don't see any difference in their stats.

 The issue I have on premium pets is that apparently they do not function like a cosmetic, they fall on the lines of a pet that is unique to other pet types.


 At the moment you turn one of the egg types in order to have a chance to hatch a pet that can range from Powerful to Legendary, this whoever does not fix the problem where the premium pet is still unavailable to free to play characters and they do not have access to a pet that can have an unique ability plus a different set of normal attacks at least from the information I got from using my Katkarot.


 I think there needs to be a better system for this, I wouldn´t say necessary that eggs should be able to spawn these premium pets, I think that preventing free to play characters from getting a pet that has the potential of having completely different stats and being able to have a higher range of rarities than some of the types like Gato prevents free to play characters to be able to harness all the tools and gives a straight up advantage to players who can put some money into the game.


 I think the best solution for this would be either make the premium pets entirely cosmetic or make them available to free to play characters with a system similar to how tokens work, where you can use tokens to buy keys to open the cosmetic boxes, potentially something similar could be implemented with pets, where you had a chance to get these premium pets.

I think premium pets are cool.

Just hoping that you could provide me a way to upgrade my mythical Katkarot to legendary *without* me having to just buy 20 premium eggs and hope for every 2,50$ to hatch me a legendary.

I'm a little confused by this part. You say that premium pets will roll the same rarity that the standard egg would have. But I've seen several people mention Legendary premium pets, even though neither standard Gato eggs nor standard Creeper eggs actually have a chance to hatch Legendary. How does that actually work?

Another idea to make premium pets upgradable (so they don't suck as badly as they do now): you blend one powerfull premium with 3 any other powerful pets to make an epic, 3 epic to make a mythic, 3 mythic to make a legendary.

Or if you prefer greedy mode, 3 premium powerful of the same to make an epic, 3 epic to make... you got it.

Or even (because of p2w issues) you mix 1 fully evolved premium with one fully evolved pet of the rarity directly above to make it take its rarity (and the other pet vanishes).

First of all: I really appreciate your attitude of ethical in-game purchases. Pay to win is my main reason not to play a lot of games. Thanks for staying rock-solid at this topic. :-)


My first impulse about the premium pets was to give it a try: I upgraded an egg and got a cool-looking katkarrot with really bad stats.

What players want: Cool-looking pets with good abilities

What Trendy wants: happy players and cool pets without the ability to purchase stats

What Trendy needs: earning money to keep the game alive


My experience with the cool-looking but bad pet taught me not to upgrade eggs again because most of the time my hatched eggs turned out to have bad stats and I feel like putting 2.50$ in a gambling machine.


Possible solution to make everybody happy:

2 different possibilities to receive premium pets: a rather expensive way to upgrade an already hatched pet and at the same time a quite attractive, really cheap way to upgrade eggs without knowing what will be hatched

  • Offering players a transformation/surgery/etc. to upgrade an already existing pet into a premium pet. Estimated price: 800 gems or more because basically we are buying a skin
  • Reducing the gambling price to 90 Gems to make the egg-gamble more attractive while there is a more expensive way to know what you get.

I think this will help the devs as well as the players because the inhibition threshold to spend 90 Gems (which I see as 0.90$) is rather low and we would do this several times while I REALLY think about investing the current 250 gems again (in my case I won't). I see the chance to get a good pet at the first try rather low.

The higher price is well-justified because we know what we will get. This could also be combined with a quest to unlock a transformation chamber (remember how Vegeta turned into SSJ4? ...this one will be better)

The current system precludes me from even trying it. I want some of the premium pets but I have been holding off until I learned more about pets. Now that we know stats scale differently on evolution based on the rarity (according to the recent devstream) I will not be putting gems into the pet casino. Random result paid content is always an absolute turn off. If you want my money I better know exactly what I will get or I'm just not going to spend. Either we get some way to assure we get a legendary premium or I will not touch premium pets and I will advise everybody I can to do the same.

The best system is to put the transform option to make them a premium pet after you hatch it. That way the initial egg hatching is still RNG and then if you get the quality you want then pay to have it transformed into a premium pet. I have no interest in the current system.

I'm 100% for the idea that eggs can have rarity because at this stage the stat difference between powerful and legendary pets is quickly evident the moment you compare.  Because of this it's useless to invest in anything short of a legendary pet and that means that Powerful rated pets are effectively grey trash items.

Any time you roll an egg without a pre-set rarity you are essentially gambling on a useful item.

Give eggs a rarity bracket when picked up so players can upgrade those to unique status.  This makes people who pay for items happy and allows players to invest only in what is worthwhile.  And yes it's likely that this will render non legendary eggs 48 hour shellium shards (this is the system that was built).

I definitely agree with Dreizehn (especially on the ethical in game purchases; you rock). Even though I want to spend the premium currency, and run around with a cool premium pet helping me out, I can't really justify the amount of currency it would take just to have a decent shot at getting a good (mythical +) one.

I feel that this problem comes because even though the premium pets do not have any stat improvements over normal pets, they are unlike any of the other cosmetics in the game in that they do have stats attached to them. This makes them reliant on the RNG of the system to a point where they become prohibitively expensive to max out, or I have to accept a stat downgrade to use one.

I think making them purely cosmetic (maybe pet costumes?) would be the simplest way to do this, and just divorce them from anything stat related. Although, I do feel that this would take away some of the "pokemon" like vibe of the pet system, where you have your little buddy that you have raised and kick goblin with. And even then, this wouldn't deal with what you would do with the alternate specials.

I'm not sure I really like the idea of egg rarity brackets, all of the pets are cool! I would actually like to see more pet variety used ingame; at the moment the lesser pets are pretty much not worth upgrading or using, and having so little use out of some of the pets seems sad.

Either I'm extremely unlucky or they both seem kinda weak in comparision to my non premium pets.. For example, my epic Katkarot does 8 damage a shot with attack speed of 2s.  (FYI, I reroll'd both those stats about 5 times each.)  All of my epic pets do a lot more damage with similar or better attack speeds.

The fact that you have to apply the premium status before you know what the egg's stats are going to be already makes me never want to try it, period.  Something cosmetic should not be bound by RNG.  Either change the eggs to show you what rarity it will hatch into, or make the premium change after the egg has hatched.

This.  This makes it so your not buying stats AND you get your costume without dealing with RNG.  right now its almost like using a Key on a chest to get a chance of the costume part you want.. Or spend the money and get exactly what you want

I would honestly like to see an upgrade to existing pets. Basically these premium pets are different skins for the pets we normally get from the eggs, right? So abilities are the same, stats are the same and you aren't gaining any advantage to the premium pets besides look. Why not allow us to buy the skins like we do for characters? I think this would justify paying 250 or even 400 gems as you know what you are going to get and the rarity of the pet is chosen by the player.

I don't post much because I think you're doing a good job on this free to play model.

But here, you overcomplicate the store with consumables.

Consumables is a bad idea. It means that what you buy won't "stay". You find a better pet ? Well you lost your money on something you won't use anymore.

Lockboxes are already a bit problematic because they drop too much. But the consumable part (key) is transformed into a non consumable part (accessory)

Here, you just throw money at something random AND not definitive.

Treat thoses premium pets as a skin who can be applied whenever you want (as long as you bought it before of course) and I'm in.
