Question about that massive auction going on over in the trade section..

I was going to post this in the actual thread, but didn't want to add anymore confusion to an already "tough read".

Now I'm fairly new here, but I think I have a descent grasp on trading and its economy. And to Deatdealer if you read this, its nothing against you at all, but theres a few things I don't quite understand.

1. With having all these cubes, event items and so on moving into one persons possession, won't this limit the future economy? If everyone spends all their currency on items they will probably never trade, won't it make it harder for normal trading to occur?

2. Are these items being auctioned just " collectables "? I've searched the forums to check them out, and I don't understand what's so special about them. I have had at some point after some Lab Runs probably 50 pairs of armguards with better stats.

I guess I'm of the mindset, like in real life, that if its not better than what I have, or can't serve a useful purpose, than why bother with it. I've looked at a lot of these items and not sure that I would be able to use them over what I currently have equipped, and my gear is definitely nowhere near top tier.

This is definitely not meant to offend anyone, especially Death dealer. I find it amazing that one person could have so many items worth so much. Kudos to you Death for your amazing collection.

With only about 20 cubes to my name, I hope there will still be opportunities for me to farm and barter for upgrades for my characters.

They are just collectables ... When you've put thousands of hours into a game it's where some people end up going, I'd rather have all dem celebrations etc

As hover tower has said they are collectables and are only worth that much because people will pay that much for them. So their value is inflated over what they would actually be worth if no one was wanting them.

Another example of inflated value is nice myth. Now that more people are looking to build myth characters there are pieces of myth going for more than ult armor. I did this as a way to get cubes to others while getting something in return. Deathdealer is doing something similar though. In his post he mentioned he will keep what he needs, which isnt much, from his auction and then give the rest away to the community. So a big win for him, those that buy the items they have been wanting and then the community.

One funny thing about the auction is that the steiglitz would probably actually go for less than a magicite if both were auctioned yet because of "Trade Value" it is worth less. This is just an example of how items values do not fully represent their market value.

Event Items are more of a collectable then actually being useful. Event items are not farmable but can only be obtain through the Events, trades, and/or auctions hence why they are so sought after and are priced very high. As time passed the value of the older event items have increased dramatically so its to be expected that the price of them would be crazy. Event items are a wealthy mans market nowadays and the price of them will only go up as time passes.

No offence taken my man, I can see where it might be confusing to someone new. As it has already been stated, the items are purley collectible and cannot be obtained through farming.

now as for your "1."
The items/currency that is moving from the person Im trading to my items box are not being used as it anyway so it will not damage the economy, rather help it and this is why;

As of the moment all the currency that is being bid in my auction is unused currency. What I plan to do is move a few of my personal items in order to get all of the unused currency. Then through giveaways, in small bursts, inject that unused currency back into the community where it can be used, helping the community. ^_^
