LaurawantsaCow 0 Posted March 20, 2014 Is there free mountain dew? :D No. Be we do have a whole bunch of Coca Cola and Sprite in the office. The idea guy or the balancing person. There are a number of idea guys in each department so you'll have to be more specific.
reyrey 0 Posted March 20, 2014 Get to know your dev. What position in Trendy are you interested in knowing more about? The position of bug troubleshooting. Is that QA or is there an actual bug solver person? Some of the bugs are too hilarious to let slip away.....the Paralleltress, Ramsters, double stacking of squire shield, the Rainbow Cat Flask; just to name a few. abbazabba 0 Posted March 20, 2014 There are a number of idea guys in each department so you'll have to be more specific. The person responsible for reworking the heroes from dd1 to dd2. The guy who came up with the environmental traps. Why did they decide to give the monk and huntress a traditional tower? When coming up with a new idea do you try to temper the idea by being a more realistic balanced for both sides of the game ( developer and player) or do you just throw things at the wall and figure out what sticks. Do you just refine ideas down by hashing it out with other people? Me and my brother regularly talk about a game we are both currently playing and what we would do different. We tend to try to come up with ideas that would be good for both sides of the game. Then we refine our ideas down but some times we get stuck and can't find a way to make it fair for the developer side. If there is someone reworking the dlc dd1 classes for dd2 I would like to hear their ideas even if their most likely going to be changed.

Dark clouds begin to gather overhead and the wind begins to pick up. Thunder crackles all around you as the trees rustle and sway to the winds that continue to grow increasingly violent. In an instant, a flash of light strikes in the clearing in front of you followed by a seemingly late BOOM. The disorientation from the event slowly starts to fade. Vision returning, the ringing you hear beings to dissipate. Dust from the newly created crater in front of you begins to clear and you notice a humanoid silhouette in the center. As you approach the edge of the crater, man standing casually with his hands in his pockets looks up from the divot with a tired look on his face. He calls out to you; "Hey." "I have been summoned because of an inquiry about the Quality Assurance department." He begins to trudge through the soft earth up the side of the crater until he reaches flat ground. He clears his throat. "As of right now, there are four internal testers and a remote team that perform various daily tests and checks, along with other duties such as playtesting maps for balance and design purposes, writing bug reports, or stress testing some online functionality. Speaking my personal experience, it's an extremely fun and rewarding position because it's your job to know the current state of the game so you have all the current information on new levels, enemies, anything being implemented. Also, you get to play the game all day which is pretty much amazing. You learn a lot about how the game functions on a technical level with some really fascinating conversations. The stuff you read online about QA jobs in the gaming industry are right though. It's a LOT more than just playing the game all day. There are times when it's extremely tedious work and there's some long hours during certain periods of production. It's definitely not a job for most people but I thank my lucky stars that I get to do what I do for a living every day. If there's any aspect in particular you'd like to know more about, let me know and I'd be happy to provide some more insight if I can." He shakes your hand firmly, does an abrupt about-face, and begins walking towards a country road on the horizon. When he reaches the road he sticks out his thumb and proceeds to wait patiently. LOL You felt a disturbance in the force and made one heck of an entrance! I appreciate the reply. I couldn't possibly delve any more into any aspect of bugs with the reply you put forth. Thank you for your time and y'all keep up the great work.
Ubara-tutu 0 Posted March 21, 2014 Quite interesting read, although that first part was a total show off. Anyways i have a question, is there a difference between the internal testers and the remote team? My guess is that the remote team is there to ensure the game works properly across the internet. Other than that, they perform the same normal testing functions. BTW, as a developer, I really appreciate our QA people. They work really hard inventing new ways to break our shiny software. Luska Arco 0 Posted March 24, 2014 Quite interesting read, although that first part was a total show off. Anyways i have a question, is there a difference between the internal testers and the remote team? The mysterious messenger continues to focus on the road hoping for a vehicle to suddenly appear on the horizon. He shouts from the roadside; "The internal QA team is comprised of local testers and the remote QA team is comprised of people from all over the globe. The internal team has access to tools, systems, and information that generally doesn't leave the office. The remote team primarily serves as an extra set of eyes an ears for bug hunting and they volunteer their time to contribute in a meaningful way to aid the process of weeding out bugs that make our game less polished. Even if the internal team has other things on their plate it means that we always have people hammering on the game who have experience in reporting bugs."
