People need to be a bit more patient, Steam is messing up today also on creating a game ... keep trying.

I wasn't even possible to connect to Steam, needed to restart the client a few times.

Whenever i try to connect it instantly says "Failed To Connect to TrendyNet" and my friend says he hasn't been having any problems . Also i should point out i can play on open no problems it trying to play on ranked that isn't working so i'm presuming it isn't a steam related problem.

Connecting to Trendnet requires an additional check for a working Steam connection, as I said Steam had a few issues today. It may doesn't affect your friend as in you are probably log in into different Steam server.

Not sure which time it is (EST, PDT, GMT or whatever) but there is a minimal turning point.

Eagle is right. Steam has been up and down for some people. Just in case, you can always verify your game cache.

1: Open your steam library
2: Right click Dungeon Defenders (http://i.imgur.com/UyPCa.jpg)
3: Click properties (http://i.imgur.com/JvLz2.jpg)
4: Click local files (http://i.imgur.com/TO5wC.png)
5: Click verify integrity of game cache (http://i.imgur.com/IZDGD.png)

That's my go to fix when I'm having any problems. Lemme know how it goes.

Great fix I've used it often.

If this does not fix your problem I have some other fixes as well.

Cleaning your registry and internet data can have amazing results with getting Dungeon Defenders to play nice with you.
I use this the free version gets the job done very nicely
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

If using a router try resetting it. Also make certain your firewall program presuming you have one is allowing the game to connect .
Oddly enough firewalls can complain about one mode but not the other at times.

Check your cables to make sure they are fully plugged in and NOT damaged.

Many feel stupid having such an obvious thing suggested but the fact that it is so obvious is what makes it so easy to overlook.

Especially if using wifi many will not consider the physical cables as a possible problem.

If all else fails have patients because as Eagle one stated Steam has issues and can be a pain at times.

It's been 2 days now and still nothing, i've tried all the suggestions and tried everything on stickied post about this. Guess all i can really do know is hope it is just a problem with steam and that it will go away :( hopefully i'll be able to show of my almost 800 hours to my newly joined friends, i'd hate to lose all that work

You can try un installing the game re cleaning the registry and internet data then restarting your computer.

After you are fully rebooted load steam.

If it boots with your machine no biggie just give it a few minutes so your machine has time to be fully booted for sure. and re download and reinstall Dungeon Defenders.

A clean install of the game on a freshly cleaned PC may do the trick.

Also posting a screenshot of the exact error message you are getting can help Laura and the gang quite a bit in helping getting you back in action.

Good luck.

(19:16:45:242)Log: Closing by request

Is your new computer Windows 8? If so add the -tcp option to the start command. I don't have the how-to link handy, but it has been mentioned quite a few times on these forums (fora?).

So, I ran into this problem as well, and the last time this happened I actually re-installed Windows to get Dungeon Defenders to work again. That being said, it happened again, and I wanted to get to the bottom of this, so I read through all of your suggestions, and I can say with some confidence that the 'only thing' that really worked for me was making sure that the check mark for 'Run-as Administrator' was selected under the compatability tab for the following executables:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\DunDefConfig.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Win32\DunDefGame.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Win32\DungeonDefenders.exe

Apparently, being an administrator on your own machine already may not be sufficient when trying to troubleshoot this issue.

Additionally, I also wanted to point out that this could have been firewall related as well, as only after the application was run as an admin did I get a UAC yes/no prompt, and my firewall did ask whether to run the application as 'unlimited/trusted'.

Thank you all for your input and helpful suggestions, it was nice being able to see what everyone else had tried, before giving up on this.
