Dungeon Defenders II is launching on Xbox One, PC & PS4 on June 20th!

For more than two years, we’ve delivered 60+ updates during Early Access. We’re finally ready to tell the world that Dungeon Defenders II is officially here. And we’re excited to tell people that, yes, we’re bringing our game to the Xbox One!

On June 20th, Dungeon Defenders II will be free-to-play on ALL platforms. If you’ve been waiting for F2P to jump into the PS4 version, or if you’ve been waiting for the Steam version to leave Early Access, that day is your day.

When the Xbox One version launches, it'll come with an exclusive pet, an exclusive weapon and a limited-time exclusive map. The new map will make its way to the other versions shortly after the release of the Xbox One version! What is that new map? Perhaps the trailer above offers some clues.

We know you have plenty of questions. We’ve tried to anticipate and answer the more popular ones below, but if you have another question, ask us in the comments!

Your Anticipated Questions

First of all, how hard was it to keep the Xbox One version a secret?

SO DAMN HARD. You have no idea how many times we wanted to tell people. Yes, we love our Xbox fans, and we can’t wait for you to experience Dungeon Defenders II three weeks from now!

Is Xbox One free-to-play?

Yes! From the very first day, the Xbox One version is free-to-play.

Is the Xbox One version up-to-date with the PC & PS4 versions?

We’re working right now to get the Xbox One version as close to the PC & PS4 versions as possible. If it’s not at parity with the other versions on launch day, we’ll get the Xbox One version on parity shortly thereafter.

Will the Xbox One version always be up-to-date with the PC & PS4 versions?

On the Xbox One, we need to put our updates through a more stringent certification process than we do on PC or PS4. It’s our goal to release Xbox One updates as close to day-and-date as possible, but the cert process could mean that Xbox One updates could come out a little later.

Is this the end of development?

NO. With your support, we’re going to bring new content, new features, quality-of-life changes, optimization improvements, continued bug fixes and so much more to Dungeon Defenders II.

What are you working on between now and launch?

We’re going to share those details over the coming weeks, but the big picture is bug fixing, polish, feature completion, bringing back Incursions & Incursion weapons into our endgame, and a few extra surprises. Stay tuned for the full details!

The weapon and pet are exclusive to the Xbox One version, but the sweet new map will make its way to PC & PS4 shortly after the Xbox One release!

So basically the game as we have it now is the "final product" ? It feels a lot more like a beta game than it was months ago. And knowing that the only new feature we will have is the return of Incursions (being the less exciting feature the game had before as it was often completely breaking the tower defense part of the game). I'm bitter to say the very least.

Please introduce some type of clarification on items so console and pc players can see upgrades more easily. Bring back Item level / pwr level or add an affix saying Chaos 1-2-3 etc. Please, community manager give this information to the devs. new players will not understand main stats and what to look for and have no clue what an actual upgrade is.

Well, this was unexpected! This is exciting news indeed! WAY TO GO TRENDY!

I will say, I was hoping/half expecting onslaught V2 to return before official release, too.

Any word on the progress of that?

That's not the only new feature! Among the other things not listed that we'll talk about in the coming weeks, we're working on improved tutorials for new players, which you rightfully mentioned is something we need to have before we release.

What a remarkable journey it has been.  It feels like yesterday when I first downloaded the game.  Things were so different then.  To think of the many iterations that have come and gone, it really does bring a tear to my eye.  It's been a fantastic ride to say the least.  It's crazy to think that the game is finally leaving the early access stage.  I know a lot of blood sweat and tears have gone into this game, and there have been times where it seemed like the end was not in sight, but I think all this effort has really paid off.  You've got a really fantastic foundation here, and I'm excited to see where you'll take it in the future.

I've never seen a team so committed to their player base quite like this one.  I think this will be the only early access game I've ever participated in that I'll be satisfied with the experience.  Bravo and cheers, Trendy!  Here is to many more years of gobus, old ones, and tons of shiny loot!

Your release the full game and you still haven't made it so the roller can fit through the door on crumbled bulwark!!! FIX IT please

How about cross play with xbox, PS4 and PC?

Now that would be impressive but alas impossible because of console war politics.

For those of us with the early access, is everything getting wiped, if so, what about those of us that paid money for a bunch of the dlc content, do we retain that?

HAHAHAHA they are releasing the game in the current state? is that a joke? there is only 1 mode of play after campaign, loot is stale and broken, endgame is now only 1 game mode with only 4 maps.......the game one year ago was a more release ready version than the current form is.  This just makes it pretty obvious that this game is headed down the tubes, and shows that the devs are not planning on making it a better game.  Releasing this game in its current form is a disgrace.......you should just do a reset to how it was like 6 months ago and it would be better, at least then there were a few different game modes to play, and gearing wasnt as watered down as getting 1 good relic drop and 1 or 2 shards.....  I have put 2k hours into this game, from day 1 and its so sad to see it fall to ruin like this.  Make all loot matter again, not just relics and bring back other gamemodes and maybe there is hope.

my god you cant be serious about launching the game now. It's official, trendy is trying to kill off its franchise.

There is countless game breaking bugs that need fix, network stability, compatibility that needs worked on.

Things need massively balanced, Ascension is broken, some towers suck completely, upgrades arent fair, like Ramsters arent worth upgrading at all.

Hard Counter mobs need replaced with challenging mobs that let us use whatever we want but need to use them differently in order to win.

More modes need brought in, like Defense mode and Onslaught mode.

Unless the launch fixes all this stuff, kiss your franchise goodbye cause you will have failed as a company and no one will trust your name again.
