Andrelian's death was not in vain, for along with that… err… pleasant anecdote came a detailed drawing and a brief description of a new addition to the Old Ones’ army:

“Later phases of Chaos contain these enormous brutes. They appear to be powered by the evil sky magic called electricity. I can only speculate on the exact impact of their hammers, but I’m sure whatever they do will be positively shocking!

Even in the face of death, I cannot ignore a good pun.”

Is Nightmare being replaced with Chaos so we will just have Chaos I, Chaos II, Chaos III, Chaos IV, & Chaos V, or is Chaos after Nightmare so we will have N1, N2, N3, N4, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5? Or is Chaos a totally separate game mode?

The Old Ones' Nightmare strategy didn't work, so they're replacing Nightmare with Chaos.

Question: Are all shards made equal? Like for example all purge evil shards start off at the same % and scales at the same speed and has the same max level? Or does shard have ipw too?

Question:

Is the Goblin Siege Roller supposed to destroy EV2's proton beams? If so, it makes her only use her reflector beam and Proton Charge on Nightmare (or Chaos now) and above.

With correct placement u can build protons without being destroyed by the roller.. :)

Make sure exp scales right when ascension hits, dont wanna be doing campaign maps for ascension exp.

I'm assuming Chaos 1 will be for ipwr 750 + and scale up until it reaches chaos V with 1400+ gear?

if so, how are people supposed to gear up for chaos 1 with the removal of nightmare 1-4

New difficulty -- awesome.I just hope its gonna be really hard , by hard I mean players throwing desktops and crashing keyboards.A lot of changes ofc u need more time ..

Nice. The new enemies gives the Roman Numerals a good reason to exist now. 

The change of name stops us comparing DD2 Nightmare to DD1 Nightmare.


I am glad the ipow of the loot is going right up as item hunting is a big attraction to the game.

I hope the difficulty jump will be great between each difficulty level. Will make it longer to complete / more of a challenge. Before with Nightmare it was the best strategy to jump to III / IV to get the best stuff (even if I die on the second round) and ignore the previous difficulties.


However will it still be the case of joining a match on a high difficulty and 'leaching'? I didn't like doing that personally but it was a possibility.


Will it still be the case of playing certain levels with the slightly higher ipow (Throne Room) and skipping others (Sewers)?


The campaign revamp was cool as it encouraged us to replay the maps we long forgotten. 

One way would be locking the next difficulty until you complete all levels in the current difficulty. However this is restricting and although I would like it I am sure many others would not.


Instead I would love to see a completion icon over each level in each difficulty so I know I am 100%ing each difficulty before moving on to the next, maybe with a little bonus for doing so? (E.g. Special Pet, Cosmetic item, Defender title, extra EXP or just a trophy in our tavern)

Its just nice to have goals to achieve. 


Can't wait for this update. The missus and I haven't been playing for a while as we had hit the end of the game (could complete all levels and all our items were more than powerful enough).


These new difficulties will get us right back in to the game.

Finally a Siege Roller nerf, I haven't played any maps apart from the few that can't spawn it since I always play either solo or with RL friends and have found him almost impossible to beat with the heroes I own. I think that even without all the new content that would be enough to get me back into the game. Now if only local coop was a thing on PC... Seriously though you guys are doing an amazing job and I can't wait to see what else you will come up.

In the livestream they said they nerfed the PDT so people would build other stuff too but that it remained strong just not overpowered as it is now

Not sure how I feel about the changes, so I'll just have to wait until the patch comes out to see the specifics.

I was sort of hoping for actual mechanics changes to the rollers, but I can't complain that at least I wont have to deal with 2-3 of them at once playing solo.

Either way, very interesting developments.  Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Excited, but isn't what's being described also a worry re game design of 'more difficulty = more enemy, more enemy hp...' thus continuing the scaling up of hero and mob...?

All sounds good. Curious to see how the farming will be in this new update. Can not wait for this update. It all sounds very exciting.
