Greetings, Defenders!

Welcome back to Influence, where you help us make decisions about Dungeon Defenders II!

Our next patch, Loot & Survive, is coming soon™. It contains pretty much everything you could want while defending Etheria -- a new leveling/progression curve, level cap increase to 50, rewards & Skill Sphere choices as you level up, a completely new loot/stat system, Onslaught Mode, Nightmare mode, an economy balance to make gold more meaningful, and oh so much more.

Because of the scope of these changes, we must wipe some of the profile data for the game. This data will simply not exist anymore after the update. However, we’ve received feedback from many of you that a full wipe (reset) would be preferred to a partial wipe. So, we’d like to put this decision up to you -- the players most invested in Dungeon Defenders II.

For the full details of the upcoming wipe and to make your voice heard, head to the Influence voting page!

I hate how we have to level up to 25 to get a costume for our characters and the Points that Leveling takes a very long time to do and the point that Multiplayer games suck because you can just never get into a good one that doesn't have little kids screwing around...

It is there as a bonus for the ones already having spent a lot of time in the game and already had level 25 heroes, with the option for late comers to get it as well if they put in a last bit of effort.

All in all it does not take too long, I did it fast enough. And besides, its not like costumes changes the game, its just a nice gift from the devs for the ones that have been alpha testing it.

I don't really care either way as the difference between full and partial is very small. I am sad though that the rewards are only to players who have reached 25 on 1 or 4 heroes and wish it was just given across the board. I'm 24 on 1 and 23 on the other 3. :(

You'd think that but... I have a 5mo old who takes maybe 1 1hr long nap a day. Makes it very hard to play for any length of time as usually just getting through 1 5 wave round takes an hour. :(

Be it full or partial, tokens need to be kept, this also seems like what the majority wants to keep. All my chars are lvl 25 with lvled up cosmetics to fit my taste, I would have never continued playing if I knew tokens were going to be wiped anyways and if they suddenly become pointless after the update then I've just wasted my time and that's not cool.

I am mainly concerned with keeping my costumes, as those are both difficult to obtain and have no actual gameplay mechanics.  Gold, eh, if it becomes useful, it's okay that I lose my 6 mil.  Characters, I'd prefer not to have to level again, but it's not the worst thing.  I've grown attached to my Purrlin, but if he must go.

Maybe I'm interpreting this incorrectly, but the original developer's description above makes me feel like Trendy had intended to only do a partial wipe.....

"Because of the scope of these changes, we must wipe some of the profile data for the game. This data will simply not exist anymore after the update. However, we’ve received feedback from many of you that a full wipe (reset) would be preferred to a partial wipe."

.... and then decided later to put it up to a vote based on feedback. I've seen in many pro full-wipe comments that there is a feeling that we can best help Trendy by wiping all data, and maybe that's true. If that really is the case though, wouldn't it have been Trendy's original plan to full wipe? Would they really leave us as players an opportunity to vote to leave potentially damaging code intact? I don't think so. If/when you vote, do so based on what you actually want, not what you think Trendy needs you to do!

From what I can tell, partial wipe and full wipe will both enable the game to evolve and be better in the exact same way.  The only difference is that full wipe punishes the people who invested time/effort into gameplay and it sends a message to the community saying that "it's ok to disregard and discount people's time/effort". And full wipe will make people who haven't farmed as much, want refunds, or somehow think it's better for game improvements (while it's the same as partial wipe), happy..

Trendy, if a full wipe is easier or better, don't make it a war between your players, tell us what is behind the scene that makes removing tokens/costume XPs necessary, and then we can make informed decisions . We all want the game to be better.

Im in for a full wipe (6 lvl 25's, all uber spheres, 40Mil, ~260K uber lightning dmg)
Maybe we could get an exp boost (for example +20% exp for 1-2 days) for another achievement? (ex. 160+ item power in the time u've played), i know i'm greedy on this but it sounded like a cool idea.
Whats are ur thoughs  on this?
Sorry for the double post

I have to disagree with you, got likely stats as you, but less money, and I'am not interested to farm wyverntokens etc again, if I already have done it once. There is so much more new content coming, new difficulty, higher hero lvl and more uberspheres, so there is enough to play without losing it all. So I prefer partial wipe. And people are complaining, that its pre alpha and players should see this coming, but if there is possibility to make it as partial wipe, its allways better than do full one. I think that full wipe hasn't got anything to offer for me and I will lose all the 350+ hours testing I have done for this game and multiple bugs I have reported. If it's gonna be full wipe I wont touch this game anymore.

Putting your user base to a vote like this is going to create a divide and whichever the results, lots of players will downvote the game on Steam and walk away because they are unhappy with the outcome.

There are better ways to handle this problem. For example, the new loot system can be introduced in such a way that it makes the old loot obsolete. Other games successfully do this. It then puts the ownership and choice on the player, to salvage their obsolete loot or keep playing with it even though it is under-powered in the new system.

If full wipes are really necessary for development of the game, then they should happen regularly as part of the early access policy. For example, full wipe every 2 weeks. That sets the expectation across the board. Allowing your core user base to play for 300+ hours and then wiping their progress is both mean and short sited.

Yeah the way the vote is going, I'm following your first paragraph. No need to regrind this stuff when there is other games out there, trendy can keep their grind fest lovers

Sometimes companies just need to do their own dirty work. "We're wiping, you knew it may happen deal with it" But relying on the stupidity of the masses on the internet for a choice like this, is obsurd.

Who says they arn't trolling just because people have stated they don't want to lose stuff?

They are going to revamp the wyvern system token, stop crying...

It was a stupid system to begin with, using a mmo with subscriptions system to keep people from evolving too quickly was a dubious idea and they know it. They didn't change it right away because they knew a wipe would be coming.

Now a full wipe is where things are at. You can't imagine how frustrating it is for people when legacy *** is coming into the game (I'm looking at you POE). So yeah, changes in values, items, progress = WIPE.

Never voted in any influence but hell this one got all my votes in a split second.

Lets stop being sarcastic and condescending towards fellow-players on the other side! Since this is seemingly a vote for preference (and not for necessity), there is no right or wrong choice.

I don;t think wyvern  tokens being kept should be in the same vote as costume exp. Costume exp not something that effects game play and it's a pain to have to grind that out again.

Thank you, Trendy for creating a game that while still in pre-alpha completely blew my expectations out of the water. I watch all of the dev streams and I'm glad that my little $24 could help support you guys in any small way. I'll continue to support any decisions that need to be made to bring this PRE-ALPHA game closer to being a finished product. You guys are doing a really good job. I, also, appreciate the compensation you're providing for the progress we're losing. You do you, Trendy. Keep up the good work.
